Abstract

Squeezed states of optical fields are important resources for photonic quantum application and have been widely discussed and experimentally studied. Stable amplitude squeezed state light with a noise reduction of-3.97dB was generated based on periodically poled KTiOPO4 in an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) resonator by utilizing the optical parametric down-conversion (OPDC) technique. The imaging experiments of resolution target has shown that the imaging resolution with squeezed state light as light source is 1.25times that of that with coherent light and the quality of the imaging with squeezed light as light source is better.

A stable amplitude squeezed state light was generated by utilizing the optical parametric down-conversion (OPDC) technique based on periodically poled KTiOPO4(PPKTP) in an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) resonator. We observed a -4.93dB of squeezing in homodyne measurement. The imaging experiments of resolution target were conducted. It shown that the imaging resolution with squeezed state light as light source was 1.26 times that of the resolution with coherent light as light source. The squeezed state light was applied for imaging of real objects and we found that the imaging with squeezed light as light source is more distinct and has less distortion.

Experimental study on the imaging of the squeezed state light at 1064 nm

L. Chen, Shulei Bi, Bao zhu Lu

Stable, low noise, infrared squeezed state tight at 1064 nm is generated by utilizing optical parametric down-conversion (OPDC) technique based on periodically poled KTiOPO 4 in a optical parametric amplifier (OPA) resonator. A non-classical noise reduction of 2.58 dB below the shot noise is observed through balanced homodyne detection. The squeezed state light is used to set up an imaging system for high-resolution imaging, and it is found that the resolution of image based on the amplitude-squeezed light is 1.26 times larger than that of infrared coherent light under the same intensity. The experimental results indicate that squeezed light is an important non-classical light, which can overcome the coherent laser shot-noise, the classical diffraction limit and limit of quantum noise.

Experimental study on the imaging of the squeezed-state light with a virtual object

Baozhu Lu, BI Si-wen, Fei Feng +2 more

A stable amplitude squeezed-state light was generated by utilizing the nondegenerate optical parametric amplifier based on periodically poled KTiOPO4 crystal at 1064 nm. We observed −4.93 dB of squeezing with a local oscillator phase locked in homodyne measurement. The imaging experiments of the resolution target have shown that the imaging resolution, which was based on squeezed-state light, is 1.41 times as much as the resolution that was acquired using coherent light as light source. In addition, the squeezed-state light was applied for imaging of the virtual object. It was found that the characters on the board were much more easily discerned with squeezed light as a light source than with coherent light. This result paves the way for further improvements of imaging resolution by use of the squeezed-state light.

Squeezed light is an important non-classical light field. In this paper, we demonstrated a designed active imaging system which use squeezed state light instead of coherent light as light source. The squeezed state light is generated by utilizing the degenerate optical parametric amplifier based on periodically poled KTiOPO4 crystal. In order to obtain better imaging results, microlens arrays are used for homogenizing the squeezed light. We describe experiment setup and present some design result.

Current development of experimental investigation of squeezed light and its applications

Genta Masada

Squeezed light is a nonclassical state of electro-magnetic field and has noise suppressed below the standard quantum limit in one quadrature component while increased in the other. One of the important applications of squeezed lights is quantum enhanced sensing such as gravitational wave detector with ultimate resolution. Another important application is continuous variables quantum teleportation which utilizes two mode squeezed lights as an essential resource for quantum entanglement. In these applications the final outcome is limited by squeezing level. So it is important to generate highly squeezed light. Over the past few decades a considerable number of the experiments have been performed to generate highly squeezed lights. One of the successful methods is utilization of a sub-threshold optical parametric oscillator (OPO) which includes a nonlinear optical crystal. In this article we will introduce current development of experimental investigation of continuous-wave highly squeezed light by utilizing the OPO and current topics about applications of squeezed light.

Two-mode squeezed light source for quantum illumination and quantum imaging

Genta Masada

We started to research quantum illumination radar and quantum imaging by utilizing high quality continuous-wave two-mode squeezed light source as a quantum entanglement resource. Two-mode squeezed light is a macroscopic quantum entangled state of the electro-magnetic field and shows strong correlation between quadrature phase amplitudes of each optical field. One of the most effective methods to generate two-mode squeezed light is combining two independent single-mode squeezed lights by using a beam splitter with relative phase of 90 degrees between each optical field. As a first stage of our work we are developing two-mode squeezed light source for exploring the possibility of quantum illumination radar and quantum imaging. In this article we introduce current development of experimental investigation of single-mode squeezed light. We utilize a sub-threshold optical parametric oscillator with bow-tie configuration which includes a periodically-polled potassium titanyl phosphate crystal as a nonlinear optical medium. We observed the noise level of squeezed quadrature −3.08±0.13 dB and anti-squeezed quadrature at 9.29±0.13 dB, respectively. We also demonstrated the remote tuning of squeezing level of the light source which leads to the technology for tuning the quantum entanglement in order to adapt to the actual environmental condition.
