Abstract

In this work, we determine the generator polynomials for the Hermitian hulls and Hermitian sums of cyclic codes defined over the composite ring $\mathbb{F}_2 \times (\mathbb{F}_2 + v\mathbb{F}_2)$, where $v^2 = v$. Based on these structures, we develop quantum error-correcting (QEC) codes by applying the Hermitian dual version of Quantum Construction~X to the obtained Hermitian hulls and sums. Moreover, by employing matrix product code methods on linear complementary dual (LCD) codes defined over the same ring, we derive families of entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting (EAQEC) codes.

Entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting codes via quasi-cyclic codes with complementary duals

Hajime Matsui, Kakeru Kaneko

Abstract It is known that entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting codes (EAQECCs), a type of quantum error correction codes, can be easily constructed using linear codes that satisfy the property called linear complementary duals (LCD). For quasi-cyclic (QC) codes, which are a class of linear codes, we have already published the methods for constructing the codes with properties such as self-orthogonality, self-duality and reversibility according to the prime-factor decomposition of $$-1+x^m$$ - 1 + x m , which reduce the amount of calculation by assembling several small generator polynomial matrices into a large generator polynomial matrix. In this paper, we propose a method to construct LCD–QC codes according to the prime-factor decomposition. The main idea of this method is to decompose the generator polynomial matrix of the QC code into several small generator polynomial matrices corresponding to the prime factors and perform LCD determination, which leads to a reduction in the amount of calculation. As an application of our construction method, we create EAQECCs from the constructed LCD–QC codes, compare those minimum weights with the maximum values of the minimum weights of existing EAQECCs and find 15 EAQECCs with larger minimum weights than the existing ones.

Quaternary conjucyclic codes with an application to EAQEC codes

Md Ajaharul Hossain, Ramakrishna Bandi

Conjucyclic codes are part of a family of codes that includes cyclic, constacyclic, and quasi-cyclic codes, among others. Despite their importance in quantum error correction, they have not received much attention in the literature. This paper focuses on additive conjucyclic (ACC) codes over $ \mathbb{F}_4 $ and investigates their properties. Specifically, we derive the duals of ACC codes by using a trace inner product and obtain the trace hull and its dimension. Also, we establish a necessary and sufficient condition for an additive code to have a complementary dual (ACD). Additionally, we identify a necessary condition for an additive conjucyclic complementary pair of codes over $ \mathbb{F}_4 $. Furthermore, we show that the trace code of an ACC code is cyclic and provide a condition for the trace code of an ACC code to be LCD. To demonstrate the practical application of our findings, we construct some good entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting (EAQEC) codes using the trace code of ACC codes.

Hulls and sums of separable constacyclic codes over $\mathbb{F}_q \times (\mathbb{F}_q+v\mathbb{F}_q)$ and new quantum codes

Yu Qian, Yu Wang, Liqi Wang

We establish the generator polynomials of the Euclidean and Hermitian duals of separable constacyclic codes over $\mathcal{S} = \mathbb{F}_q \times (\mathbb{F}_q+v\mathbb{F}_q)$, with $q$ an odd prime power and $v^2=v$, and we derive the generator polynomials of their Gray images, respectively. The generator polynomials of the Euclidean hulls and Hermitian hulls of separable constacyclic codes over $\mathcal{S}$ and their Gray images are presented, respectively. Furthermore, we provide the generator polynomials of the Euclidean sums and Hermitian sums of separable constacyclic codes and their Gray images, respectively. Finally, we propose two methods to yield quantum error-correcting codes (QECCs) from the hulls and sums of separable constacyclic codes over $\mathcal{S}$, and generate new QECCs that outperform the existing ones in terms of parameters.

Cyclic codes over F2 × (F2 + vF2) and binary quantum codes

Fatma Çalışkan, Refia Aksoy

In the present study, we define cyclic codes over the commutative principal ideal ring F2 ? (F2 + vF2) with v2 = v and obtain some results on cyclic codes over F2 ? (F2 + vF2). We also investigate the dual of a cyclic code over F2 ? (F2 + vF2) depending on two inner products. We determine a generator polynomial of cyclic codes and give the calculation of the number of cyclic codes over F2 ? (F2 + vF2). Furthermore, we show that the Gray images of a cyclic code over F2 ? (F2 + vF2) of length n are binary quasi-cyclic codes of length 3n and of index 3. We find numerous binary codes as Gray images of cyclic codes over F2 ? (F2 + vF2) and tabulate the optimal ones. Moreover, we show that it is possible to obtain binary quantum error-correcting codes (QECCs) from cyclic codes over F2 ? (F2 + vF2).

Entanglement-Assisted Quantum Codes from Cyclic Codes

Francisco Revson F. Pereira, Stefano Mancini

Entanglement-assisted quantum-error-correcting (EAQEC) codes are quantum codes which use entanglement as a resource. These codes can provide better error correction than the (entanglement unassisted) codes derived from the traditional stabilizer formalism. In this paper, we provide a general method to construct EAQEC codes from cyclic codes. Afterwards, the method is applied to Reed-Solomon codes, BCH codes, and general cyclic codes. We use the Euclidean and Hermitian construction of EAQEC codes. Three families have been created: two families of EAQEC codes are maximal distance separable (MDS), and one is almost MDS or almost near MDS. The comparison of the codes in this paper is mostly based on the quantum Singleton bound.

QEC and EAQEC Codes from Hermitian Sums and Hulls of Cyclic Codes over F2×(F2+vF2)\mathbb{F}_2 \times (\mathbb{F}_2+v\mathbb{F}_2)F2×(F2+vF2)

Hulls and sums of separable constacyclic codes over Fq×(Fq+vFq)\mathbb{F}_q \times (\mathbb{F}_q+v\mathbb{F}_q)Fq×(Fq+vFq) and new quantum codes
