Abstract

We introduce and study a class of two-dimensional integrable quantum field theories that carry an internal $\mathbb{Z}_n$ structure. These models extend factorised scattering beyond the conventional framework, featuring both the usual hierarchy of integer-spin conserved charges and an additional tower of fractional-spin ones. Our construction relies on a reparametrisation of rapidity space that lifts standard scattering amplitudes to a multiplet related by an internal cyclic symmetry. This construction is naturally embedded within a generalised Gibbs ensemble, which provides the natural framework for a consistent graded Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz. This leads to new Y-systems encoding the graded spectrum. In a special case, these functional relations match those obtained via the ODE/IM correspondence from the monodromy analysis of the quantum cubic oscillator. Even in the simplest models, for one sign of the auxiliary temperature, the finite-volume ground-state energy spectrum undergoes an infinite sequence of level crossings as the coupling strength increases. A preliminary analysis also suggests that these theories exhibit structural connections with cyclic orbifolds. Within this setup, one can consistently include extra CDD factors that realise fractional-spin analogues of the $T\bar{T}$ deformation. In analytically tractable cases, a Hagedorn-like behaviour is observed for a sign of the flow parameter, and the deformed spectrum develops a finite limiting temperature.

Generalised Gibbs Ensembles from the ODE/IM Correspondence: the Lee--Yang Model

Sujay K. Ashok, Max Downing, Faisal Karimi +2 more

We introduce a systematic scheme for constructing the ODE/IM counterpart of generalised Gibbs ensembles, and apply it to the chiral sector of the Lee--Yang conformal field theory. We encode the chemical potentials in a deformation of the cubic oscillator, fixed order by order by requiring that the large-energy WKB period reproduces exactly the driving term of the corresponding thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equation; the subleading WKB periods then yield, as predictions, the deformed eigenvalues of the local conserved charges. We work out the spin-5 ensemble in detail for two states of the model: the ground state, in the module of the primary $ϕ$, dual to the deformed cubic oscillator, and the primary of the identity module, dual to the same oscillator supplemented by an apparent singularity, a double pole whose position is fixed by a trivial-monodromy condition. In both cases, the Stokes multiplier obeys the Lee--Yang Y-system, and the deformed eigenvalues match, to the orders checked, an independent conformal-field-theory computation. The Borel resummation of the resulting series for the ground-state energy reproduces the numerical TBA solution over many orders of magnitude in the chemical potential. The scheme relies only on general features of the ODE/IM correspondence and applies to generalised Gibbs ensembles in other integrable models.

Modular Properties of Generalised Gibbs Ensembles: The Deformed KdV Hierarchy

Faisal Karimi

We construct a set of conserved charges which are deformations of quantum KdV charges. They are associated with the modular transformation of a GGE with the spin-$σ$ KdV charge inserted with chemical potential $α_σ$. The charges are formal power series in the chemical potential, with coefficients given by local integrals of motion. We define local recursion relations and equivalent flow equations, prove commutativity to all orders, and establish uniqueness of the currents modulo total derivatives for a fixed generating series. We show that the eigenvalues of these deformed charges can be obtained from the thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz in two models. In the $c=1/2$ free fermion theory, the deformed charges reduce to explicit linear combinations of undeformed KdV charges, and their ground-state eigenvalues agree with the TBA expansion to all orders. In the Lee-Yang model, we find numerical agreement through cubic order in the spin-$5$ deformation for the first few charges evaluated on low-lying states.

Form Factors and Correlation Functions of $\mathrm{T}\overline{\mathrm{T}}$-Deformed Integrable Quantum Field Theories

Olalla A. Castro-Alvaredo, Stefano Negro, Fabio Sailis

The study of $\mathrm{T}\overline{\mathrm{T}}$-perturbed quantum field theories is an active area of research with deep connections to fundamental aspects of the scattering theory of integrable quantum field theories, generalised Gibbs ensembles, and string theory. Many features of these theories, such as the peculiar behaviour of their ground state energy and the form of their scattering matrices, have been studied in the literature. However, so far, very few studies have approached these theories from the viewpoint of the form factor program. From the perspective of scattering theory, the effects of a $\mathrm{T}\overline{\mathrm{T}}$ perturbation (and higher spin versions thereof) is encoded in a universal deformation of the two-body scattering matrix by a CDD factor. It is then natural to ask how these perturbations influence the form factor equations and, more generally, the form factor program. In this paper, we address this question for free theories, although some of our results extend more generally. We show that the form factor equations admit general solutions and how these can help us study the distinct behaviour of correlation functions at short distances in theories perturbed by irrelevant operators.

Generalised $T\bar{T}$-deformations of classical free particles

Benjamin Doyon, Friedrich Hübner, Takato Yoshimura

Deformations of many-body Hamiltonians by certain products of conserved currents, referred to as $T\bar{T}$-deformations, are known to preserve integrability. Generalised $T\bar{T}$-deformations, based on the complete space of pseudolocal currents, were suggested [B. Doyon, J, Durnin, T. Yoshimura, Scipost Physics 13, 072 (2022)] to give rise to integrable systems with arbitrary two-body scattering shifts, going beyond those from known models or standard CDD factors. However, locality properties were not clear. We construct explicit generalised $T\bar{T}$-deformations of the system of classical free particles. We show rigorously that they are Liouville integrable Hamiltonian systems with finite-range interactions. We show elastic, factorised scattering, with a two-particle scattering shift that can be any continuously differentiable non-negative even function of momentum differences, fixed by the $T\bar{T}$-deformation function. We show that the scattering map (or wave operator) has a finite-range property allowing us to trace carriers of asymptotic momenta even at finite times - an important characteristics of many-body integrability. We evaluate the free energy and prove the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz with Maxwell-Boltzmann statistics, including with space-varying potentials and in finite and infinite volumes. We give equations for the particles' trajectories where time appears explicitly, generalising the contraction map of hard rod systems: the effect of generalised $T\bar{T}$-deformations is to modify the local metric perceived by each particle, adding extra space in a way that depends on their neighbours. The systems generalise the gas of interacting Bethe ansatz wave packets recently introduced in the Lieb-Liniger model. They form a new class of models that, we believe, most clearly make manifest the structures of many-body integrability.

Y -systems for generalised Gibbs ensembles in integrable quantum field theory

Olalla A. Castro-Alvaredo

Abstract The thermodynamic Bethe ansatz approach to the study of integrable quantum field theories was introduced in the early 90s. Since then it has been known that the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations can be recast in the form of Y -systems. These Y -systems have a number of interesting properties, notably in the high-temperature limit their solutions are constants from which the central charge of the ultraviolet fixed point can be obtained and they are typically periodic functions, with period proportional to the dimension of the perturbing field. In this letter we discuss the derivation of Y -systems when the standard thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations are replaced by generalised versions, describing generalised Gibbs ensembles. We shown that for many integrable quantum field theories, there is a large class of distinct generalised Gibbs ensembles which share the same Y -system.
