A scheme for conditional quantum phase gate via bimodal cavity and a Λ-type three-level atom

We propose a scheme to implement a two-qubit conditional quantum phase gate for the intracavity field via a single three-level Λ-type atom driven by two modes in a high-Q cavity. The quantum information is encoded on the Fock states of the bimodal cavity. The gate's averaged fidelity is expected to reach 99.8%.

Origin of the Reaction of Probe Spectra on the Coupling Pump Laser Absorption

Harry Friedmann, T. Zigdon, A. D. Wilson‐Gordon

In this paper it is shown that the effect of the probe spectrum on the pump absorption results from a probe-frequency-dependent modulation of the populations of the states involved in the transitions interacting with the radiation. We distinguish between two elementary situations: 1. simple two-level systems and V-tvpe three-level systems and 2. Lambda-tvpe three-level systems. In a four-level V-type configuration, where the two vertical legs represent the transitions that interact with the pump(s), and the diagonal leg represents the transition that interacts with the probe. There are two contributions to the pump spectrum. The left-hand transition corresponds to a Lambda-tvpe situation and the right-hand transition to a V-type situation.

Enhanced Kerr nonlinear effect of Raman transition in a Λ-type three-level atomic system

Haibin Wu, Chang Hong, Ma Jie +3 more

We report a theoretical study of linear and nonlinear susceptibilities of Raman transition in a Λ-type three-level atomic system. In the Raman transition, if t he population of atoms is all prepared in the ground state which interacts with the control light, the linear susceptibility equals zero, while the third-order nonlinear susceptibility does not equal zero. By decreasing the nonradiative dec ay rate γ12 between the two ground states of the atoms, the Kerr no nlinear refractive index for cross-phase modulation can be significantly enhance d.
