Abstract

Abstract We discuss the application of the Jordanian quantum algebra $$\mathcal {U}_h (\mathfrak {sl}(2, \mathbb {R}))$$ U h ( sl ( 2 , R ) ) , a Hopf algebra deformation of the Lie algebra $$\mathfrak {sl}(2, \mathbb {R})$$ sl ( 2 , R ) , in order to generate sets of N qubit quantum states. We construct the associated h -deformed Dicke states using the Clebsch–Gordan coefficients for $$\mathcal {U}_h (\mathfrak {sl}(2, \mathbb {R}))$$ U h ( sl ( 2 , R ) ) , showing that the former exhibit completely different features than the q -Dicke states obtained from the standard quantum deformation $${\mathcal {U}}_q (\mathfrak {sl}(2, \mathbb {R}))$$ U q ( sl ( 2 , R ) ) . Moreover, the density matrices of these h -deformed Dicke states are compared to the experimental realizations of those of Dicke states, and several similarities are observed, indicating that the h -deformation could be used to describe noise and decoherence effects in experimental settings, as well as to control the degree of entanglement of the state in quantum computing protocols. In particular, h -Dicke states for $$N=2,3,4$$ N = 2 , 3 , 4 are presented, a method to construct the h -deformed analogs of W -states for arbitrary N is given, and some algebraic considerations for the explicit derivation of generic h -Dicke states are provided.

Quantum deformations of $\mathcal{U}(\mathfrak{sl}(2, \mathbb{R}))$. Part I: Fidelity and experimental benchmarking

V. Mariscal, J. J. Relancio, L. Santamaría-Sanz

This work explores the effects of both the standard quantum $q$-deformation and the non-standard $h$-deformation of the Hopf algebra $\mathcal{U}(\mathfrak{sl}(2, \mathbb{R}))$ on multi-qubit systems. By constructing the states of a Hilbert space of $N$ qubits through the Clebsch-Gordan coefficients associated with the deformed algebras, we show that these states naturally coincide with the eigenstates of the Hamiltonian of the $q$- and $h$-deformed Kittel-Shore models. We compare the resulting deformed states with those typically targeted in quantum information experiments, providing a bridge between algebraic constructions and experimentally relevant quantum resources. Fidelities with respect to the undeformed states are computed to establish how the quantum correlations are affected, both for few-qubit systems (including Dicke and non-Dicke states), and in the macroscopic limit ($N \to \infty$) through closed-form formulas derived for arbitrary Dicke states. The results reveal different behaviors between the two deformations. The $q$-deformation smoothly modifies the states and maintains a residual overlap with the original configurations, while the $h$-deformation rapidly makes the states orthogonal to their undeformed counterparts. Both models demand a standard $N^{-1}$ rescaling to preserve fidelity stability in the macroscopic limit.

Non-standard quantum algebras and finite dimensional P T -symmetric systems

Ángel Ballesteros, Romina Ramírez, M. Reboiro

Abstract In this work, P T -symmetric Hamiltonians defined on quantum s l ( 2 , R ) algebras are presented. We study the spectrum of a family of non-Hermitian Hamiltonians written in terms of the generators of the non-standard U z ( s l ( 2 , R ) ) Hopf algebra deformation of s l ( 2 , R ) . By making use of a particular boson representation of the generators of U z ( s l ( 2 , R ) ) , both the co-product and the commutation relations of the quantum algebra are shown to be invariant under the P T -transformation. In terms of these operators, we construct several finite dimensional P T -symmetry Hamiltonians, whose spectrum is analytically obtained for any arbitrary dimension. In particular, we show the appearance of Exceptional Points in the space of model parameters and we discuss the behaviour of the spectrum both in the exact P T -symmetry and the broken P T -symmetry dynamical phases. As an application, we show that this non-standard quantum algebra can be used to define an effective model Hamiltonian describing accurately the experimental spectra of three-electron hybrid qubits based on asymmetric double quantum dots. Remarkably enough, in this effective model, the deformation parameter z has to be identified with the detuning parameter of the system.

q-analog qudit Dicke states

David Raveh, Rafael I. Nepomechie

Abstract Dicke states are completely symmetric states of multiple qubits (2-level systems), and qudit Dicke states are their d -level generalization. We define here q -deformed qudit Dicke states using the quantum algebra s u q ( d ) . We show that these states can be compactly expressed as a weighted sum over permutations with q -factors involving the so-called inversion number, an important permutation statistic in Combinatorics. We use this result to compute the bipartite entanglement entropy of these states. We also discuss the preparation of these states on a quantum computer, and show that introducing a q -dependence does not change the circuit gate count.

Quantum Evolution of Hopf Algebra Hamiltonians

Michele Arzano, Antonio Del Prete, Domenico Frattulillo

In recent years, growing attention has been devoted to the possibility that theories with deformed symmetries, associated with certain models of non-commutative spacetime, may encode a fundamental form of decoherence. This effect should be described by a Lindblad-like evolution governed by the non-trivial Hopf algebra structure of the time-evolution generators. In this work we provide a detailed analysis of such possibility for similar Hopf algebra deformations of the Hamiltonian of a qubit. Starting from a critical examination of the very definition of time evolution through the generalized adjoint action, we explore whether a coherent and physically viable framework can be established. In particular, our analysis shows that a more general combination of adjoint actions always guarantees a von Neumann dynamics and, also in the case of deformed spacetime symmetries considered in the literature, a physically viable Lindblad evolution cannot be established.

Non-standard quantum algebras and finite dimensional $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric systems

Ángel Ballesteros, Romina Ramírez, M. Reboiro

In this work, $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric Hamiltonians defined on quantum $sl(2, \mathbb R)$ algebras are presented. We study the spectrum of a family of non-Hermitian Hamiltonians written in terms of the generators of the non-standard $U_{z}(sl(2, \mathbb R))$ Hopf algebra deformation of $sl(2, \mathbb R)$. By making use of a particular boson representation of the generators of $U_{z}(sl(2, \mathbb R))$, both the co-product and the commutation relations of the quantum algebra are shown to be invariant under the $\mathcal{PT}$-transformation. In terms of these operators, we construct several finite dimensional $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetry Hamiltonians, whose spectrum is analytically obtained for any arbitrary dimension. In particular, we show the appearance of Exceptional Points in the space of model parameters and we discuss the behaviour of the spectrum both in the exact $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetry and the broken $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetry dynamical phases. Quantum algebra deforming maps, Clebsch–Gordan coefficients, coproducts, R and U matrices

Thomas Curtright, G. I. Ghandour, COSMAS K. ZACHOS

Quantum algebra deforming maps explicitly define comultiplications that differ from the usual noncocommutative coproducts. Map-induced coproducts are connected to the usual ones by similarity transformations U that may be expressed either in terms of Clebsch–Gordan coefficients, or in a universal operator form. The product of two such U matrices yields the R matrix for a fixed value of the spectral parameter, which bears on the Yang–Baxterization of U as well as R. All this is explicitly illustrated for the tensor product 1/2⊗j of SU(2)q using several deforming maps whose coproducts are continuously connected by similarity transformations to form a two-parameter manifold. Some observations are made on the general structure of U and R matrices, and of coproduct manifolds, based on the solutions of hierarchies of partial difference equations. Applications of deforming maps and U matrices to the physics of spin-chains are outlined.
