Abstract

We examine the impact of long-range Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction in the extended $XY$ model on the phase diagram as well as the static and dynamical properties of quantum and classical correlation functions. It is known that in the nearest-neighbor $XY$ model with DM interaction, the transition from the gapless chiral phase to a gapped one occurs when the strengths of the DM interaction and anisotropy coincide. We exhibit that the critical line gets modified with the range of interactions which decay according to power law. Specifically, instead of being gapless in the presence of a strong DM interaction, a gapped region emerges which grows with the increase of the moderate fall-off rate (quasi-long-range regime) in the presence of a transverse magnetic field. The gapless chiral phase can also be separated from a gapped one by the decay patterns of quantum mutual information and classical correlation with distant sites of the ground state which are independent of the fall-off rate in the gapless zone. We observe that the corresponding critical lines that depend on the fall-off rate can also be determined from the effective central charge involved in the scaling of entanglement entropy. We illustrate that in a nonequilibrium setting, the relaxation dynamics of classical correlation, the decay rate of total correlation, and the growth rate of entanglement entropy can be employed to uncover whether the evolving Hamiltonian and the Hamiltonian corresponding to the initial state are gapped or gapless.

Phase boundaries in an alternating-field quantum XY model with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction: Sustainable entanglement in dynamics

Saptarshi Roy, Titas Chanda, Tamoghna Das +3 more

We report all phases and corresponding critical lines of the quantum anisotropic transverse XY model with uniform and alternating transverse magnetic fields (ATXY) in the presence of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction by using appropriately chosen order parameters. We prove that when DM interaction is weaker than the anisotropy parameter, it has no effect at all on the zero-temperature states of the XY model with uniform transverse magnetic field (UXY), which is not the case for the ATXY model. However, when DM interaction is stronger than the anisotropy parameter, we show the appearance of a new gapless chiral phase---in the XY model with uniform as well as alternating field. We further observe that first derivatives of nearest neighbor two-site entanglement with respect to magnetic fields can detect all the critical lines present in the system. We also find that the factorization surface at zero temperature present in this model without DM interaction becomes a volume on the introduction of the latter. Moreover, DM interaction turns out to be good to generate bipartite entanglement sustainable at large times, leading to a proof of ergodic nature of bipartite entanglement in this system.

The effects of the Dzyaloshinskii—Moriya interaction on the ground-state properties of theXYchain in a transverse field

Ming Zhong, Hui Xu, Xiaoxian Liu +1 more

The effects of the Dzyaloshinski—Moriya (DM) interaction on the ground-state properties of the anisotropic XY chain in a transverse field have been studied by means of correlation functions and entanglement. Different from the case without the DM interaction, the excitation spectra ∊ k of this model are not symmetrical in the momentum space and are not always positive. As a result, besides the ferromagnetic (FM) and the paramagnetic (PM) phases, a gapless chiral phase is induced. In the chiral phase, the von Neumann entropy is proportional to log 2 L ( L is the length of a subchain) with the coefficient A ≈ 1/3, which is the same as that of the XY chain in a transverse field without the DM interaction for γ = 0 and 0 < h ≤ 1. And in the vicinity of the critical point between the chiral phase and the FM (or PM) phase, the behaviors of the nearest-neighbor concurrence and its derivative are like those for the anisotropy transition.

Quantum and classical correlations in the one-dimensional XY model with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction

Ben‐Qiong Liu, Bin Shao, Jungang Li +2 more

We study the effect of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction on pairwise quantum discord, entanglement, and classical correlation in the anisotropic $\mathrm{XY}$ spin-half chain. Analytical expressions for both quantum and classical correlations are obtained from the spin-spin correlation functions. These pairwise quantities exhibit interesting behaviors in relation to the relative strengths of the physical parameters. For the infinite chain, we show that the quantum discord can be useful to highlight the quantum phase transition, especially for the long-distance spins, where entanglement decays rapidly. We observe nonanalyticities of the derivatives of both quantum and classical correlations with respect to the magnetic intensity at the critical point; interestingly, the DM interaction weakens the critical behavior in the derivatives of these correlations. While the DM interaction suppresses the standard behaviors of the $\mathrm{XY}$ model, it enhances surprisingly the pairwise entanglement for the third nearest neighbor spins.

Quantum coherence of XY model with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction

Yi Tian-Cheng, Ding Yue-Ran, Jie Ren +2 more

In this paper, we study the quantum coherence of one-dimensional transverse XY model with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, which is given by the following Hamiltonian:HXY=∑i=1N((1+γ/2) σixσi+1x+(1-γ/2) σiyσi+1y-hσiz) ∑i=1ND(σixσi+1y-σiyσi+1x).(8)Here, 0 ≤ γ ≤ 1 is the anisotropic parameter, h is the magnitude of the transverse magnetic field, D is the strength of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction along the z direction. The limiting cases such as γ=0 and 1 reduce to the isotropic XX model and the Ising model, respectively. We use the Jordan-Winger transform to map explicitly spin operators into spinless fermion operators, and then adopt the discrete Fourier transform and the Bogoliubov transform to solve the Hamiltonian Eq.(8) analytically. When the DM interactions appear, the excitation spectrum becomes asymmetric in the momentum space and is not always positive, and thus a gapless chiral phase is induced. Based on the exact solutions, three phases are identified by varying the parameters:antiferromagnetic phase, paramagnetic phase, and gapless chiral phase. The antiferromagnetic phase is characterized by the dominant x-component nearest correlation function, while the paramagnetic phase can be characterized by the z component of spin correlation function. The two-site correlation functions Grxy and Gryx (r is the distance between two sites) are nonvanishing in the gapless chiral phase, and they act as good order parameters to identify this phase. The critical lines correspond to h=1, γ=2D, and h=√4D2 -γ2 + 1 for γ>0. When γ=0, there is no antiferromagnetic phase. We also find that the correlation functions undergo a rapid change across the quantum critical points, which can be pinpointed by the first-order derivative. In addition, Grxy decreases oscillatingly with the increase of distance r. The correlation function Grxy for γ=0 oscillates more dramatically than for γ=1. The upper boundary of the envelope is approximated as Grxy~r-1/2, and the lower boundary is approximately Grxy~r-3/2, so the long-range order is absent in the gapless chiral phase. Besides, we study various quantum coherence measures to quantify the quantum correlations of Eq.(8). One finds that the relative entropy CRE and the Jensen-Shannon entropy CJS are able to capture the quantum phase transitions, and quantum critical points are readily discriminated by their first derivative. We conclude that both quantum coherence measures can well signify the second-order quantum phase transitions. Moreover, we also point out a few differences in deriving the correlation functions and the associated density matrix in systems with broken reflection symmetry.

Dynamical relaxation behavior of an extended XY chain with a gapless phase following a quantum quench

Kaiyuan Cao, Yayun Hu, Peiqing Tong +1 more

We investigate the dynamical relaxation behavior of the two-point correlation in extended XY models with a gapless phase after quenches from various initial states. Specifically, we study the XY chain with gapless phase induced by the following additional interactions: Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and the XZY-YZX type of three-site interaction. When quenching from the gapped phase, we observe that the additional interactions have no effect on the relaxation behavior. The relaxation behavior is $\ensuremath{\delta}{C}_{mn}(t)\ensuremath{\sim}{t}^{\ensuremath{-}3/2}$ and $\ensuremath{\sim}{t}^{\ensuremath{-}1/2}$ for the quench to the commensurate phase and the incommensurate phase, respectively. However, when quenching from the gapless phase, we demonstrate that the scaling behavior of $\ensuremath{\delta}{C}_{mn}(t)$ is changed to $\ensuremath{\sim}{t}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ for the quench to the commensurate phase, and the decay of $\ensuremath{\delta}{C}_{mn}(t)$ follows $\ensuremath{\sim}{t}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ or $\ensuremath{\sim}{t}^{\ensuremath{-}1/2}$ for the quench to the incommensurate phase depending on the parameters of prequench Hamiltonian. We also establish the dynamical phase diagrams based on the dynamical relaxation behavior of $\ensuremath{\delta}{C}_{mn}(t)$ in the extended XY models.

Induced effects of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction on the thermal entanglement in spin-1/2 Heisenberg chains

E. Mehran, S. Mahdavifar, Rouhollah Jafari

The nearest-neighbor spins in the one-dimensional spin-1/2 $XX$ model with the added Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction are entangled at zero temperature. In the presence of a transverse magnetic field (TF) they remain entangled up to a quantum critical field, ${h}_{c}$. Using the fermionization technique, we have studied the mutual effect of the DM interaction and a TF on the thermal entanglement (TE) in this model. The critical temperature where the entanglement disappears is specified. It is found that the TE in the finite-temperature neighborhood of the quantum critical field shows a scaling behavior with the critical exponent equal to the critical gap exponent. We also argue that thermodynamical properties like the specific heat and the magnetocaloric effect (instead of the usual internal energy and the magnetization) can detect the mentioned quantum entanglement in solid systems. In addition, we suggest a tactic to find all critical temperatures, which is based on the derivative of the entanglement witness with respect to the temperature.
