Fast adiabatic preparation of multisqueezed states by jumping along the path

Abstract

Multisqueezed states, also known as generalized squeezed states, are valuable quantum non-Gaussian resources, because they can feature nonclassical properties such as large phase-space Wigner negativities. In this paper, we introduce a shortcuts to adiabaticity (STA) method for the fast preparation of multisqueezed states. In contrast to previous STA methods, which rely on the use of counterdiabatic control to suppress unwanted nonadiabatic effects, our method simplifies the process and accelerates state preparation by selecting an appropriate sampling along a quantum evolution path. We demonstrate the high fidelity and fast preparation of multisqueezed states, as well as hybrid entangled states between a bosonic mode and a qubit.

Shortcuts to Adiabaticity with Inherent Robustness and without Auxiliary Control

Yiyao Liu, Zhenyu Wang

Shortcuts to adiabaticity (STA) are fast methods to realize the same final state evolution of quantum adiabatic process. We develop a general theory to construct a new kind of STA by solely sampling the points of the adiabatic path of the original adiabatic Hamiltonian. In contrast to previous methods, our approach does not require any additional control resources, has inherent robustness, and does not use any complicated unitary transformation. Based on path sampling, the resulting STA protocols are simple and can avoid points of adiabatic path that are challenging to implement. As applications of our theory, we demonstrate reduction of the effects of both dissipation and dephasing noise by a novel robust three-level control, as well as reliable and fast ground state evolution in an adiabatic quantum computing model. Our theory offers a new route to design robust and fast control methods for general quantum systems.

Experimental preparation of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states in an Ising spin model by partially suppressing the nonadiabatic transitions

Yunlan Ji, Ji Bian, Xi Chen +4 more

The creation of multipartite entangled states is a key task of quantum information processing. Among the various implementations, shortcut to adiabaticity (STA) offers a fast and robust means for generating entanglement. The traditional counterdiabatic driving, as a conventional and simple method for STA, suppresses transitions with an auxiliary Hamiltonian, but its complex interactions in many-body systems may hamper the feasibility of experimental implementation. To avoid this drawback, a flexible and efficient way was proposed theoretically by Chen et al. [Phys. Rev. A 93, 052109 (2016)] by substituting the counterdiabatic terms. Inspired by this work, we devise a practical protocol for preparing the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state on the Ising spin model via STA by partial suppression of the nonadiabatic transitions, which can obviously reduce the complexity in experiments compared with the original method. We also experimentally demonstrate the viability of our scheme with a nuclear magnetic resonance quantum simulator. This work provides an alternative method to realize fast coherent quantum control for a multiqubit system in experiments.

Fast adiabatic evolution by oscillating initial Hamiltonians

Francesco Petiziol, Benjamin Dive, Florian Mintert +1 more

We propose a method to produce fast transitionless dynamics for finite-dimensional quantum systems without requiring additional Hamiltonian components not included in the initial control setup, remaining close to the true adiabatic path at all times. The strategy is based on the introduction of an effective counterdiabatic scheme: a correcting Hamiltonian is constructed which approximatively cancels nonadiabatic effects, inducing an evolution tracking the adiabatic states closely. This can be absorbed into the initial Hamiltonian by adding a fast oscillation in the control parameters. We show that a consistent speedup can be achieved without requiring strong control Hamiltonians, using it both as a stand-alone shortcut to adiabaticity and as a weak correcting field. A number of examples are treated, dealing with quantum state transfer in avoided-crossing problems and entanglement creation.

Reversing adiabatic state preparation in few-level quantum systems

Leonardo Romanato, Najmeh Eshaqi-Sani, Luca Lepori +3 more

We present a detailed study of an adiabatic state preparation in an effective three-level quantum system. States can be prepared with high speed and fidelity by adding a counterdiabatic quantum control protocol. As a second step, we invert the preparation protocol to get back to the initial state. This describes an overall cyclic evolution in state space. Using counterdiabatic terms, the resulting composed fast evolution can be repeated many times. We then analyze the control of Berry's phase along the adiabatic cyclic path and show that Berry's phase can act as a sensitive detector of nonperfect state transfer.

Transitionless quantum driving of the Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid

Léonce Dupays, Adolfo del Campo

Shortcuts to adiabaticity (STA) make the fast preparation of many-body states possible, circumventing the limitations of adiabatic strategies. We propose a fast STA protocol for generating interacting states in the Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid by counterdiabatic driving, stirring the dynamics with an auxiliary control field. To this end, we exploit the equivalence between the time-dependent Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid and an ensemble of quantum oscillators with driven mass and frequency. We specify the closed-form expression of the counterdiabatic control and demonstrate its efficiency in suppressing excitations.

Fast generation of W state via superadiabatic-based shortcut in circuit quantum electrodynamics*

Xuemei Wang, Anqi Zhang, Peng Xu +1 more

We propose a scheme to fast prepare the three-qubit W state via superadiabatic-based shortcuts in a circuit quantum electrodynamics (circuit QED) system. We derive the effective Hamiltonian to suppress the unwanted transitions between different eigenstates by counterdiabatic driving, and obtain the W state with high-fidelity based on the superadiabatic passage. The numerical simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can accelerate the evolution, and is more efficient than that with the adiabatic passage. In addition, the proposed scheme is robust to the decoherence caused by the resonator decay and qubit relaxation, and does not need additional parameters, which could be feasible in experiment.
