Abstract

We theoretically study the radiance properties of a pair of qubits inside a single-mode cavity driven by a two-photon drive. Our results show that, when the two qubits are strongly coupled to the cavity field, the collective radiation emitted from the qubits exhibits hyperradiance which can be detected as a signature of two qubit entanglement in the weak-driving regime. We quantify the entanglement in terms of concurrence. Additionally, we study the radiance behaviour in the presence of an intracavity Kerr-nonlinear medium that leads to two-photon blockade. Our results suggest that this system with nonlinearity may act as a quadrature-squeezed and hyperradiant two-photon source.

Hybrid photon blockade with hyperradiance in a two-qubit cavity QED system

Zhuorui Wang

We investigate a hybrid photon blockade (HPB) scheme in a driven two-qubit cavity QED system arising from the combination of eigenenergy-level anharmonicity (ELA) and quantum destructive interference (QDI). By tuning the qubit and drive detunings, we identify parameter regimes that combine the brightness of ELA-based conventional photon blockade with the strong antibunching of QDI-based unconventional photon blockade. Interestingly, these regimes are accompanied by hyperradiance, indicating that inter-emitter correlations give rise to enhanced collective emission. The HPB mechanism retains parametric generality under coupling asymmetry and is accessible through detuning control, offering a feasible route toward high-quality single-photon sources.

Squeezed light generated with hyperradiance without nonlinearity

Jun Li, Chengjie Zhu, Yaping Yang

We propose that the squeezed light accompanied by hyperradiance is induced by quantum interference in a linear system consisting of a high-quality optical cavity and two coherently driven two-level qubits. When two qubits are placed in the cavity with a distance of integer multiple and one-half of wavelengths (i.e., they have the opposite coupling coefficient to the cavity), we show that squeezed light is generated in the hyperradiance regime under the conditions of strong coupling and weak driving. Simultaneously, Klyshko's criterion alternates up and down at unity when the photon number is even or odd. Moreover, the orthogonal angles of the squeezed light can be controlled by adjusting the frequency detuning between the driving field and the qubits. It can be implemented in a variety of quantum systems, including but not limited to two-level systems such as atoms, ions, quantum dots in single-mode cavities.

Electromagnetic field induced strong two photon blockade with hyperradiant behavior

W. Li, Chengjie Zhu, Yaping Yang

We theoretically study the electromagnetic field controlled photon correlation and radiation properties in a two-atom-cavity quantum electrodynamic (QED) system with different atom-cavity coupling strengths. When two three-level atoms are coherently driven by a probe field and a strong control field, forming a ladder type electromagnetically induced transparency configuration, there exist four different excitation pathways via the two photon processes, yielding four different frequencies for realizing two photon blockades. Carefully choosing the intensity of the control field, resonant single-photon and two-photon excitation can be achieved at the same probe field frequency. Thus, two photon blockade phenomenon can be significantly improved and the collective radiation behavior becomes superradiance or even hyperradiance. Our system presented here can be considered to be a converter of a weak coherent light to two correlated photons.

A Photon Blockade in a Coupled Cavity System Mediated by an Atom

Ming-Cui Li, Aixi Chen

We investigate theoretically the photon statistics in a coupled cavity system mediated by a two-level atom. The system consists of a linear cavity weakly driven by a continuous laser, and a nonlinear cavity containing an atom inside. We find that there exists a photon blockade in the linear cavity for both parameter regimes where the coupling strength between the atom and the nonlinear cavity is greater (or less) than the dissipation rate of the linear cavity. We also extend our model by pumping the two cavities simultaneously and find that the conventional photon blockade is apparent in the linear cavity, whereas the unconventional photon blockade appears in the nonlinear cavity. These results show that our work has potential applications for a single photon source in a weakly nonlinear system.

Hybrid photon blockade with hyperradiance in two-qubit cavity QED system

Zhuorui Wang, Jun Li

We investigate a hybrid photon blockade (HPB) scheme in a driven two-qubit cavity QED system arising from the combination of eigenenergy-level anharmonicity (ELA) and quantum destructive interference (QDI). By tuning the detuning of a single qubit and pumping field, we identify precise parametric regimes that fully integrate the advantages of high brightness in ELA-based conventional photon blockade and strong antibunching in QDI-based unconventional photon blockade. Interestingly, these regimes are accompanied by hyperradiance, indicating that inter-emitter correlations give rise to enhanced collective emission. The HPB mechanism exhibits parametric generality across varying coupling asymmetries and remains accessible via detuning control, offering a feasible route for generating high-quality single-photon source in diverse quantum platforms.

Quantum signatures of collective behavior of a coherently driven two atom system coupled to a single-mode of the electromagnetic field

Marc-Oliver Pleinert, Joachim von Zanthier, G. S. Agarwal

We present a study of the quantum statistical properties of light emitted by two coherently driven atoms coupled to a single-mode cavity, an ideal setup to precisely investigate various aspects of collective behavior over a wide range of couplings to cavity and external drive. At high pumping and coupling, we predict the possibility of steady-state hyperradiance accompanied by (super-)bunching for an out of phase radiation. The mean photon number can be up to $2$ orders of magnitude higher than in the single atom case. The highest nonclassicality in the sense of the smallest Mandel $Q$ parameter is found when spontaneous emission, cavity decay, coherent pumping, and atom-cavity coupling are comparable. A quantum version of the negative binomial distribution with parameters directly related to $Q$ characterizes the photon distribution in the cavity and its quantum features.
