Abstract

We present a novel mechanism for generating a wide bandwidth squeezed optical output field in an opto-magnomechanical system. In this system, the magnon (mechanical) mode in the yttrium-iron-garnet crystal is coupled to the microwave field (optical field) through magnetic dipole (radiation pressure) interaction. The magnetostrictive force induced by the yttrium-iron-garnet crystal causes a mechanical displacement and creates a quadrature squeezed magnon mode. Eventually, this quadrature squeezed mechanical mode is transferred to the output optical field through state-swap interaction. Our results demonstrate the optimal parameter range for obtaining a stable squeezed optical output field with a wide bandwidth. Moreover, the squeezed light field exhibits strong robustness to environmental temperature. The new scheme we propose has potential applications in quantum precision measurements, quantum wireless networks, quantum radar, etc.

Entanglement between microwave fields and squeezing of the optical output field in an opto-magnomechanical ring cavity

Jinhao Jia, Juan Huang, Fengxuan Zhang +1 more

We propose a scheme to generate entanglement between microwave fields and achieve strong squeezing of the optical output field in an opto-magnomechanical ring cavity. The system consists of two elastic yttrium iron garnet crystals with attached mirror pads inside two separate microwave cavities, and an extra fixed mirror outside the microwave cavities is utilized to complete the optical ring cavity with the two mirror pads. A magnon mode supported by the yttrium iron garnet crystal couples directly to the microwave cavity mode via magnetic dipole interaction and couples indirectly to the optical cavity mode via magnomechanical displacement, which is caused by magnetostrictive interaction and also couples the magnon mode to a phonon mode. A squeezed light is fed into the ring cavity to entangle the two phonon modes. To activate the beam splitter interaction, each magnon mode and optical cavity mode is driven by a strong red-detuned driving field. Consequently, the stationary entanglement between the two microwave cavities is obtained. The transfer efficiency of the entanglement is [Formula: see text]. To ensure the squeezing of the magnon mode generated by magnetostrictive interaction transferred into the optical field, we remove two microwave cavities. The squeezing of the optical output field can reach up to [Formula: see text] dB at 10 mK and survives up to an environmental temperature about 500 mK. Our scheme may find various useful applications in quantum wireless fidelity network and the enhancement of sensitivity of measurements.

High-efficiency entanglement of microwave fields in cavity opto-magnomechanical systems

Ke Di, Shuai Tan, Liyong Wang +4 more

We demonstrate a scheme to realize high-efficiency entanglement of two microwave fields in a dual opto-magnomechanical system. The magnon mode simultaneously couples with the microwave cavity mode and phonon mode via magnetic dipole interaction and magnetostrictive interaction, respectively. Meanwhile, the phonon mode couples with the optical cavity mode via radiation pressure. Each magnon mode and optical cavity mode adopts a strong red detuning driving field to activate the beam splitter interaction. Therefore, the entangled state generated by the injected two-mode squeezed light in optical cavities can be eventually transferred into two microwave cavities. A stationary entanglement E a 1 a 2 =0.54 is obtained when the input two-mode squeezed optical field has a squeezing parameter r = 1. The entanglement E a 1 a 2 increases as the squeezing parameter r increases, and it shows the flexible tunability of the system. Meanwhile, the entanglement survives up to an environmental temperature about 385 mK, which shows high robustness of the scheme. The proposed scheme provides a new mechanism to generate entangled microwave fields via magnons, which enables the degree of the prepared microwave entanglement to a more massive scale. Our result is useful for applications which require high entanglement of microwave fields like quantum radar, quantum navigation, quantum teleportation, quantum wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) network, etc.

Generating squeezing and enhancing entanglement in an opto-magnomechanical system via pump modulation

Qi Guo, Jinglan Liu, Cheng‐Hua Bai +3 more

We propose schemes for generating quantum squeezing and enhancing entanglement in an opto-magnomechanical configuration by periodically modulating the driving field. The system consists of an optical cavity and a ferrimagnetic yttrium-iron-garnet micro-bridge supporting a magnon mode and a mechanical vibration mode, in which the mechanical mode couples to the optical mode and the magnon mode via radiation pressure and magnetostrictive interaction, respectively. The optical mode and the magnon mode are driven by classical fields, and the amplitude of the laser field driving the optical cavity is periodically modulated. We find that when the classical fields are red-detuned and their anti-Stokes sidebands scattered by the mechanical motion resonate with the corresponding driven modes, all the modes in the system will be squeezed simultaneously, and the mechanical squeezing can exceed the 3-dB limit. Furthermore, when the driving laser field is red-detuned and the microwave field is blue-detuned, both the bipartite and tripartite entanglements will be generated, and compared to the case without periodical modulation, the entanglements are significantly enhanced. We also show that the schemes have strong robustness against the system dissipations and environmental temperature. Our schemes may provide efficient quantum resources for quantum precision measurement and quantum information processing.

Generating Squeezing and Enhancing Entanglement Based on Magnon‐Induced Brillouin Light Scattering via Pump Modulation

A‐Peng Liu, Cheng‐Hua Bai, Qi Guo

ABSTRACT We study a dissipative opto‐magnomechanical system implemented using a yttrium iron garnet (YIG) sphere, which supports a magnon mode and two optical whispering‐gallery modes coupled via magnon‐induced Brillouin scattering. Besides, another mechanical mode is considered, which interacts with the optical and magnon modes through radiation pressure and magnetostriction, respectively. This hybrid system is under combined optical driving for the optical modes and microwave driving for the magnon mode and the amplitude of the microwave field is periodically modulated. We apply different parametric approximations by strongly driving one of the optical modes for preparing squeezing and entangled states, respectively. When the classical driving fields are red‐detuned, strong mechanical squeezing beyond the 3‐dB limit is achieved, along with simultaneous squeezing of all three modes. In addition, when the microwave field is red‐detuned and the optical laser is blue‐detuned, significant bipartite and tripartite entanglement is generated. These quantum entanglements are markedly enhanced by periodic modulation compared to the non‐modulated case. The proposed configurations exhibit strong robustness against system dissipation and environmental temperature, suggesting their potential as quantum resources for metrology and information processing applications.

Microwave‐Optics Entanglement Via Cavity Optomagnomechanics

Zhiyuan Fan, Liu Qiu, Simon Gröblacher +1 more

Abstract Microwave‐optics entanglement is a vital component for building hybrid quantum networks. Here, a new mechanism for preparing stationary entanglement between microwave and optical cavity fields in a cavity optomagnomechanical system is proposed. It consists of a magnon mode in a ferrimagnetic crystal that couples directly to a microwave cavity mode via the magnetic dipole interaction and indirectly to an optical cavity through the deformation displacement of the crystal. The mechanical displacement is induced by the magnetostrictive force and coupled to the optical cavity via radiation pressure. Both the opto‐ and magnomechanical couplings are dispersive. Magnon–phonon entanglement is created via magnomechanical parametric down‐conversion, which is further distributed to optical and microwave photons via simultaneous optomechanical beamsplitter interaction and electromagnonic state‐swap interaction, yielding stationary microwave‐optics entanglement. The microwave‐optics entanglement is robust against thermal noise, which will find broad potential applications in quantum networks and quantum information processing with hybrid quantum systems.

Quantum-state engineering in cavity magnomechanics formed by two-dimensional magnetic materials

Chun-Jie Yang, Qingjun Tong, Jun‐Hong An

Abstract Cavity magnomechanics has become an ideal platform to explore macroscopic quantum effects. Bringing together magnons, phonons, and photons in a system, it opens many opportunities for quantum technologies. It was conventionally realized by an yttrium iron garnet, which exhibits a parametric magnon–phonon coupling m ˆ † m ˆ ( b ˆ † + b ˆ ) , with m ˆ and b ˆ being the magnon and phonon modes. Inspired by the recent realization of two-dimensional (2D) magnets, we propose a cavity magnomechanical system using a 2D magnetic material with both optical and magnetic drivings. It features the coexisting photon–phonon radiation-pressure coupling and quadratic magnon–phonon coupling m ˆ † m ˆ ( b ˆ † + b ˆ ) 2 induced by the magnetostrictive interaction. A stable squeezing of the phonon and bi- and tri-partite entanglements among the three modes are generated in the regimes with a suppressed phonon number. Compared with previous schemes, ours does not require any extra nonlinear interaction and reservoir engineering and is robust against the thermal fluctuation. Enriching the realization of cavity magnomechanics, our system exhibits its superiority in quantum-state engineering due to the versatile interactions enabled by its 2D feature.
