Abstract

Abstract We study the thermodynamics of the antiperiodic XXZ chain with anisotropy parameter η = i π 3 by means of the t − W scheme. We parameterize the eigenvalues of both the transfer matrix and the corresponding fused transfer matrix by their zero points instead of Bethe roots. Based on the patterns of the zero points distribution and the reconstructed entropy, we obtain the nonlinear integral equations describing the thermodynamics of the model and compute its free energy at a finite temperature.

Scattering matrix of elementary excitations in the antiperiodic XXZ spin chain with η = i π 3

Pei Sun, Jintao Yang, Yi Qiao +2 more

We study the thermodynamic limit of the antiperiodic XXZ spin chain with the anisotropic parameter η=πi3. We parameterize eigenvalues of the transfer matrix by their zero points instead of Bethe roots. We obtain patterns of the distribution of zero points. Based on them, we calculate the ground state energy and the elementary excitations in the thermodynamic limit. We also obtain the two-body scattering matrix of elementary excitations. Two types of elementary excitations and three types of scattering processes are discussed in detailed.

Root patterns and energy spectra of quantum integrable systems without U(1) symmetry: the antiperiodic XXZ spin chain

Xiong Le, Yi Qiao, Junpeng Cao +3 more

Abstract Finding out root patterns of quantum integrable models is an important step to study their physical properties in the thermodynamic limit. Especially for models without U(1) symmetry, their spectra are usually given by inhomogeneous T − Q relations and the Bethe root patterns are still unclear. In this paper with the antiperiodic XXZ spin chain as an example, an analytic method to derive both the Bethe root patterns and the transfer-matrix root patterns in the thermodynamic limit is proposed. Based on them the ground state energy and elementary excitations in the gapped regime are derived. The present method provides an universal procedure to compute physical properties of quantum integrable models in the thermodynamic limit.

Thermodynamic limit of the spin-$$ \frac{1}{2} $$ XYZ spin chain with the antiperiodic boundary condition

Zhirong Xin, Yusong Cao, Xiaotian Xu +3 more

Abstract Based on its off-diagonal Bethe ansatz solution, we study the thermodynamic limit of the spin- $$ \frac{1}{2} $$ 1 2 XYZ spin chain with the antiperiodic boundary condition. The key point of our method is that there exist some degenerate points of the crossing parameter ηm,l, at which the associated inhomogeneous T − Q relation becomes a homogeneous one. This makes extrapolating the formulae deriving from the homogeneous one to an arbitrary η with O(N−2) corrections for a large N possible. The ground state energy and elementary excitations of the system are obtained. By taking the trigonometric limit, we also give the results of antiperiodic XXZ spin chain within the gapless region in the thermodynamic limit, which does not have any degenerate points.

T − W relation and free energy of the Heisenberg chain at a finite temperature

Pengcheng Lu, Yi Qiao, Junpeng Cao +3 more

Abstract A new nonlinear integral equation (NLIE) describing the thermodynamics of the Heisenberg spin chain is derived based on the t − W relation of the quantum transfer matrices. The free energy of the system in a magnetic field is thus obtained by solving the NLIE. This method can be generalized to other lattice quantum integrable models. Taking the SU(3)-invariant quantum spin chain as an example, we construct the corre- sponding NLIEs and compute the free energy. The present results coincide exactly with those obtained via other methods previously.

Exact physical quantities of the XYZ spin chain in the thermodynamic limit

Zhirong Xin, Junpeng Cao, Wen‐Li Yang +1 more

A bstract The thermodynamic limits of the XYZ spin chain with periodic or twisted boundary conditions are studied. By using the technique of characterizing the eigenvalue of the transfer matrix by the T − Q relation and by the zeros of the associated polynomial, we obtain the constraints of the Bethe roots and the zeros for the eigenvalues. With the help of structure of Bethe roots, we obtain the distribution patterns of zeros. Based on them, the physical quantities such as the surface energy and excitation energy are calculated. We find that both of them depend on the parity of sites number due to the topological long-range Neel order on the Mobius manifold in the spin space. We also check our results with those obtaining by the density matrix renormalization group. The method provided in this paper can be applied to study the thermodynamic properties at the thermal equilibrium state with finite temperature.

Thermodynamics of an Ising-like XXZ chain in a longitudinal magnetic field in the framework of the quantum transfer matrix approach

P. N. Bibikov

Abstract Taking the Ising chain as a reference model we have derived a perturbative expression for the free energy density of the Heisenberg–Ising chain with strong easy-axis anisotropy. All calculations are performed on the ground of the quantum transfer matrix approach. The obtained result agrees with the direct high-temperature expansion. It also agrees with the low-temperature cluster expansion in the special subregime when quantum fluctuations are weak against thermodynamical ones.
