Abstract

Abstract. We show that quantum trajectories become exponentially fast supported by one of their minimal invariant subspaces. The exponential convergence is established in expectation by using Lyapunov techniques and carrying out an in-depth study of the identifiability of the different subspaces. Additionally, we introduce a feedback control strategy that enables targeted convergence to a desired subspace. This convergence is also achieved at exponential speed.

On the robustness of feedback stabilization for discrete-time quantum trajectories beyond QND measurements

Maël Bompais, Nina H. Amini

In this paper, we present several refinements of the results in [1] concerning feedback stabilization of invariant subspaces of quantum trajectories. First, we consider a more realistic dynamics that accounts for potential measurement imperfections. Second, the strong controllability assumption can be replaced by a simpler and more natural condition whenever the channel is primitive on its minimal invariant subspaces. Finally, we show that the control strategy can be based on the estimated trajectory (starting from an estimated initial state) while still ensuring exponential stabilization towards the target subspace at the same rate, thereby demonstrating the robustness of the approach.

Exponential stabilization of spin-1/2 systems based on switching state feedback

Jie Wen, Yuanhao Shi, Jianfang Jia +1 more

The exponential stabilization of eigenstates by using switching state feedback strategy for quantum spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ systems is considered in this paper. In order to obtain faster state exponential convergence, we divide the state space into two subspaces, and use two different continuous state feedback controls in the corresponding subspace. The two continuous state feedback controls form the switching state feedback, under which the state convergence is faster than that under continuous state feedback. The exponential convergence and the superiority of switching state feedback are proved in theory and verified in numerical simulations. Besides, the influence of the control parameter on the state convergence rate is also studied.

Exponential stabilization of stochastic quantum systems via combined feedback

Jie Wen, Yuanhao Shi, Jianfang Jia +1 more

We propose a novel control strategy by combining state feedback with noise-assisted feedback to exponentially stabilize the target eigenstate for two-level stochastic quantum systems in this paper. The state space is divided into two subspaces, and the state feedback and noise-assisted feedback work in the corresponding subspace, respectively, to achieve the faster state convergence than that of using the two feedback controls individually. We prove the exponential stabilization of target eigenstate under the combined feedback, whose the effectiveness and superiority are verified in numerical simulations.

Rapid stabilization of stochastic quantum systems in a unified framework

Jie Wen, Fangmin Wang, Yuanhao Shi +2 more

Rapid stabilization of general stochastic quantum systems is investigated based on the rapid stability of stochastic differential equations. We introduce a Lyapunov–LaSalle-like theorem for a class of nonlinear stochastic systems first, based on which a unified framework of rapidly stabilizing stochastic quantum systems is proposed. According to the proposed unified framework, we design the switching state feedback controls to achieve the rapid stabilization of single-qubit systems, two-qubit systems, and N-qubit systems. From the unified framework, the state space is divided into two state subspaces, and the target state is located in one state subspace, while the other system equilibria are located in the other state subspace. Under the designed state feedback controls, the system state can only transit through the boundary between the two state subspaces no more than two times, and the target state is globally asymptotically stable in probability. In particular, the system state can converge exponentially in (all or part of) the state subspace where the target state is located. Moreover, the effectiveness and rapidity of the designed state feedback controls are shown in numerical simulations by stabilizing GHZ states for a three-qubit system.
