The Fast Recurrent Subspace on an N-Level Quantum Energy Transport Model

Abstract

The fast recurrent subspace (the biggest support of all invariant states) of a weak coupling limit type quantum Markov semigroup modeling a quantum transport open system of [Formula: see text]-energy levels is determined. This is achieved by characterizing the structure of all the invariant states and their spectra in terms of a natural generalization of the discrete Fourier transform operator. Finally, the attraction domains and long-time behaviour of the evolution are studied on hereditary subalgebras where faithful invariant states exist.

Transition Maps between Hilbert Subspaces and Quantum Energy Transport

Jorge R. Bolaños-Servín, Roberto B. Quezada, Josué I. Rios-Cangas

We use a natural generalization of the discrete Fourier transform to define transition maps between Hilbert subspaces and the global transport operator Z. By using these transition maps as Kraus (or noise) operators, an extension of the quantum energy transport model of describing the dynamics of an open quantum system of N-levels is presented. We deduce the structure of the invariant states which can be recovered by transporting states supported on the first level.

A characterization of quantum Markov semigroups of weak coupling limit type

Franco Fagnola, Roberto B. Quezada

We characterize generators of quantum Markov semigroups leaving invariant a maximal abelian purely atomic algebra and certain operator subspaces associated with it in a natural way. From this result, we also establish a characterization of generators of quantum Markov semigroups of weak coupling limit type associated with a nondegenerate Hamiltonian.

Stationary states of weak coupling limit-type Markov generators and quantum transport models

Alvaro Hernandez-Cervantes, Roberto B. Quezada

We prove that every stationary state in the annihilator of all Kraus operators of a weak coupling limit-type Markov generator consists of two pieces, one of them supported on the interaction-free subspace and the second one on its orthogonal complement. In particular, we apply the previous result to describe in detail the structure of a slightly modified quantum transport model due to Arefeva et al. (modified AKV’s model) studied first in [J. C. García et al., Entangled and dark stationary states of excitation energy transport models in many-particles systems and photosynthesis, Infin. Dimens. Anal. Quantum Probab. Relat. Decomposition and Classification of Generic Quantum Markov Semigroups: The Gaussian Gauge Invariant Case

Franco Fagnola, Skander Hachicha

We study the structure of generic quantum Markov semigroups, arising from the stochastic limit of a discrete system with generic Hamiltonian interacting with a Gaussian gauge invariant reservoir. We show that they can be essentially written as the sum of their irreducible components determined by closed classes of states of the associated classical Markov jump process. Each irreducible component turns out to be recurrent, transient or have an invariant state if and only if its classical (diagonal) restriction is recurrent, transient or has an invariant state, respectively. We classify invariant states and study convergence towards invariant states as time goes to infinity.

Gaussian quantum Markov semigroups on finitely many modes admitting a normal invariant state

Federico Girotti, Damiano Poletti

Gaussian quantum Markov semigroups (GQMSs) are of fundamental importance in modelling the evolution of several quantum systems. Moreover, they represent the noncommutative generalization of classical Orsntein-Uhlenbeck semigroups; analogously to the classical case, GQMSs are uniquely determined by a “drift” matrix Z and a “diffusion” matrix C , together with a displacement vector ζ . In this work, we completely characterize those GQMSs that admit a normal invariant state and we provide a description of the set of normal invariant states; as a side result, we are able to characterize quadratic Hamiltonians admitting a ground state in full generality and using a completely new approach compared to the ones used so far. Moreover, we study the behavior of such semigroups for long times: firstly, we clarify the relationship between the decoherence-free subalgebra and the spectrum of Z . Then, we prove that environment-induced decoherence takes place and that the dynamics approaches an Hamiltonian closed evolution for long times; we are also able to determine the speed at which this happens. Finally, we study convergence of ergodic means and recurrence and transience of the semigroup.

THE DECOHERENCE-FREE SUBALGEBRA OF A QUANTUM MARKOV SEMIGROUP WITH UNBOUNDED GENERATOR

Ameur Dhahri, Franco Fagnola, Rolando Rebolledo

Let [Formula: see text] be a quantum Markov semigroup on [Formula: see text] with a faithful normal invariant state ρ. The decoherence-free subalgebra [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text] is the biggest subalgebra of [Formula: see text] where the completely positive maps [Formula: see text] act as homomorphisms. When [Formula: see text] is the minimal semigroup whose generator is represented in a generalised GKSL form [Formula: see text], with possibly unbounded H, Lℓ, we show that [Formula: see text] coincides with the generalised commutator of [Formula: see text] under some natural regularity conditions. As a corollary we derive simple sufficient algebraic conditions for convergence towards a steady state based on multiple commutators of H and Lℓ. We give examples of quantum Markov semigroups [Formula: see text], with h infinite-dimensional, having a non-trivial decoherence-free subalgebra.
