Particle-Hole Ansatz in the Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard Model

Abstract

A recurrence relation ansatz between annihilation operators applied to the hopping interaction term of the Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard model (JCHM) reduces the JCHM to that of the ordinary Jaynes-Cummings model (JCM), albeit, with a boson energy depending on the hopping strength. This allows us to calculate the phase diagram for the Mott-to-superfluid phase transition and the critical hopping strength as a function of the detuning.

Mott Insulator to Superfluid Phase Transition in Bravais Lattices via the Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard Model

C. B. Gomes, André M. C. Souza, Francisco A. G. Almeida

The Properties of the Mott insulator to superfluid phase transition are obtained through the fermionic approximation in the Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard model on linear, square, SC, FCC, and BCC Bravais lattices. For varying excitation number and atom-cavity frequency detuning. We find that the Mott lobes and the critical hopping are not scalable only for the FCC lattice. At the large excitation number regime, the critical hopping is scalable for all the lattices and it does not depend on the detuning.

Strong coupling expansion for the Bose–Hubbard and Jaynes–Cummings lattice models

Christoph Heil, Wolfgang von der Linden

A strong coupling expansion based on the Kato-Bloch perturbation theory, which has recently been proposed by Eckardt et al (2009 Phys. Rev. B 79 195131) and Teichmann et al (2009 Phys. Rev. B 79 224515), is implemented in order to study various aspects of the Bose-Hubbard and Jaynes-Cummings lattice models. The approach, which allows us to generate numerically all diagrams up to a desired order in the interaction strength, is generalized for disordered systems and for the Jaynes-Cummings lattice model. Results for the Bose-Hubbard and Jaynes-Cummings lattice models will be presented and compared with results from the variational cluster approach and density matrix renormalization group. Our focus will be on the Mott insulator to superfluid transition.

Nearest-Neighbor Tunneling Ansatz in the Bose-Hubbard Model

Moorad Alexanian

A recently introduced recurrence-relation ansatz applied to the Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard model is here applied to the Bose-Hubbard model that reduced the model to an easily soluble model. The results obtained for the two-point density correlations resemble somewhat those obtained recently also but in a much more complicated fashion. Our ansatz may be of value for the solution of many-body quantum mechanical problems.

Phase diagrams of the Bose-Fermi-Hubbard model: Hubbard operator approach

Stasyuk, Mysakovych, Володимир Олександрович Краснов

The phase transitions in the Bose-Fermi-Hubbard model are investigated. The boson Green's function is calculated in the random phase approximation (RPA) and the formalism of the Hubbard operators is used. The regions of existence of the superfluid and Mott insulator phases are established and the (µ, t) (the boson chemical potential vs. hopping parameter) phase diagrams are built at different values of boson-fermion interaction constant (in the regimes of fixed chemical potential or fixed concentration of fermions). The effect of temperature change on this transition is analyzed and the phase diagrams in the (T, µ) plane are constructed. The role of thermal activation of the ion hopping is investigated by taking into account the temperature dependence of the transfer parameter. The reconstruction of the Mott-insulator lobes due to this effect is analyzed.

Quantum phase diagrams of the Jaynes–Cummings Hubbard models in non-rectangular lattices

Jun Zhang, Ying Yan Jiang

In this paper, we investigate systematically the quantum phase transition between the Mott-insulator and superfluid states of the Jaynes–Cummings Hubbard model in triangular, square, honeycomb and kagomé lattices. With the help of Green's function method, by treating the hopping term in the Jaynes–Cummings Hubbard model as perturbation, we calculate the phase boundaries of Jaynes–Cummings Hubbard models on different geometrical lattices analytically up to second order for both detuning and . It is shown that the Mott phase becomes more unstable when increasing the polariton number n . Meanwhile, the Mott lobe of n = 0 is enlarged while other Mott lobes shrink as the detuning parameter increases.
