Abstract

AC Stark shifts have an impact on the dynamics of atoms interacting with a near-resonant quantized single-mode cavity field, which is relevant to a single atom micromaser. In this study, we demonstrate that, when the field is in a squeezed coherent state, atomic lineshapes are highly sensitive to the squeezing parameter. Furthermore, we show that, when considering a superposition of squeezed coherent states with equal amplitude, the displacement of the transition lines depends significantly, not only on the squeezing parameter, but also on its sign.

Phase squeezing in a three-level atom micromaser

Luis Roa

I consider a lossless micromaser with cascade three-level atoms in a coherent superposition of its three levels. I find that for some values of the atomic flight time and some probability amplitudes for the intermediate atomic level, the field evolves to a pure state which is the well-known general squeezed state, and the squeeze and displacement parameters are functions of the atomic input parameters. Therefore it is possible to choose atomic parameters which produce squeezing in the phase or in the amplitude of the field inside the cavity.

Influence of AC-Stark shift on cavity field spectra in the non-degenerate Raman process

The cavity field spectrum of an atom interacting with two-mode field through non-degenerate Raman coupling with the presence of AC-Stark shift in an ideal cavity is investigated. The results for the atom in the low-level state and the initial fields in pure number states, coherent states, and squeezed vacuum states are calculated. When the initial fields are in number states, the three-peak structure of each model cavity field spectra appear for weak fields, and two-peak or single-peak structure appear for strong fields. When both field modes are in a superposition of number states initially, the cavity field spectra are generally of two-peak structure. With the increase of γ=g2/g1,one peak rises and the other peak reduces.

Effect of the dynamic Stark shift on dipole squeezing in two-photon processes

Tahira Nasreen, M. S. K. Razmi

Atomic-dipole squeezing in the presence of the Stark shift in two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model for an atom initially prepared in a coherent superposition of states, interacting with the coherent- or squeezed-vacuum-state field, is studied. Closed expressions for dispersive and absorptive components of the dipole for the coherent-field input under the large-n\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{} approximation are derived. It is shown that atomic-dipole squeezing is sensitive to both the phase of the initial field and the relative phase between the two atomic levels. Our results show that, for certain choices of these phases, permanent dipole squeezing can be obtained.

Multi-Photon Processes for One-Mode Intensity Dependent Coupling Hamiltonian in the Presence of Stark Shift

N. H. Abdel-Wahab

We have investigated the interaction between a one-mode coherent field and a two-level atom. The interaction is multi-photon processes and the Stark shift and the number operator are taken into account. We obtained the wave function when the atom is initially in a superposition state. The effects of the number operator and the dynamic Stark shift on the sub-poissonian distribution, amplitude-squared squeezing and the Q -function for two-photon processes are investigated. The results show that these phenomena are affected by the presence of these parameters.

Generation of higher-order atomic dipole squeezing in a high-Q micromaser cavity. (VIII). Multi-photon interaction

Rui‐Hua Xie, Qin Rao

In our preceding serial works, we have investigated the generation of higher-order atomic dipole squeezing (HOADS) in a high-Q micromaser cavity, discussing the effects of dynamic Stark shift, atomic damping, atomic coherence and nonlinear one-photon processes and different initial states (for example, correlated and uncorrelated states, superposition states, squeezed vacuum). In this paper, we continue to study HOADS in a high-Q micromaser cavity, but consider that the atom interacts with the optical field via a multi-photon transition process and that the initial atom is arbitrarily prepared. For a vacuum initial field, we demonstrate that HOADS cannot occur if the atom is initially prepared in a chaotic state and that a coherent atomic state generates less efficient and stable HOADS than an arbitrary one. It is found that large detuning may lead to enhanced and strong HOADS.

Effects of Stark shift on the cavity field spectra of an atom interacting with two modes squeezed vacuum fields

The cavity field spectrum of an atom interacting with two-mode squeezed vacuum fields in the presence of Stark shift is investigated. The expression of cavity field spectrum and some numerical results are presented. The effects of Stark shift and initial field intensity on the spectrum structure are discussed. It is found that the peak positions are sensitive to the Stark-shift while the peak heights are not under the condition of weak initial fields.Whenn1=n2≥2,the central peak of each mode rises and the other peaks reduce along with the accretion of the Stark-shift coefficients.Various spectral structures may be gained by changing of the Stark-shift coefficients or initial fields.
