Abstract

We study quasi-particle dynamics in a quasi-periodic Ising model with temporally fluctuating transverse fields. Specifically, we calculate the dynamical exponents of the standard deviation of a quasi-particle spreading under a field chosen randomly from binary values $\pm h$ at every time interval. We find that the short-time behavior of the dynamical exponents depends on the interval of the temporally fluctuating fields. We also reveal how the quasi-particle dynamics affects the relaxation of spin-spin correlation functions. The dynamics can be explained via the overlap between the eigenvectors of a Hamiltonian with $\pm h$.

Effects of Gaussian disorder on the dynamics of the random transverse Ising model

Zhongqiang Liu, Xiang-Mu Kong, Xiaosong Chen

The effects of Gaussian disorder on the dynamics of the one-dimensional spin-1/2 random transverse Ising model are studied in the high-temperature limit by the recursion method. Both spin autocorrelation functions and the corresponding spectral densities are calculated for three types of disordered cases. It is found that when the standard deviation ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{J}$ of the exchange coupling (or the standard deviation ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{B}$ of the random transverse field) is small, the dynamics of the system undergoes two crossovers in sequence as the mean value of the exchange coupling (or the random transverse field) varies: from a central-peak behavior to a collective-mode one, and then to the precession of free spins in an external transverse magnetic field. However, when ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{J}$ or ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{B}$ are large enough, there is no crossover, i.e., the dynamics of the system shows a central-peak behavior and a disordered behavior, respectively.

Dynamics of correlation spreading in low-dimensional transverse-field Ising models

Ryui Kaneko, Ippei Danshita

We investigate the dynamical spreading of spatial correlations after a quantum quench starting from a magnetically disordered state in the transverse-field Ising model at one (1D) and two spatial dimensions (2D). We analyze specifically the longitudinal and transverse spin-spin correlation functions at equal time with use of several methods. From the comparison of the results in 1D obtained by the linear spin-wave approximation (LSWA) and those obtained by the rigorous analytical approach, we show that the LSWA can asymptotically reproduce the exact group velocity in the limit of strong transverse fields while it fails to capture the detailed time dependence of the correlation functions. By applying the LSWA to the 2D case, in which the rigorous analytical approach is unavailable, we estimate the propagation velocity to be $Ja/(2\ensuremath{\hbar})$ at the strong-field limit, where $J$ is the Ising interaction and $a$ is the lattice spacing. We also utilize the tensor-network method based on the projected-entangled pair states for 2D and quantitatively compute the time evolution of the correlation functions for a relatively short time. Our findings provide useful benchmarks for quantum simulation experiments of correlation spreading and theoretical refinement of the Lieb-Robinson bound in the future.

Dynamics of the Ising Chain with Four-Spin Interactions in a Disordered Transverse Magnetic Field

O. F. de Alcantara Bonfim, B. Boechat, Claudette E. Cordeiro +2 more

We study the time dependent behavior of the four-spin interactions Ising chain in the presence of a disordered transverse magnetic field. In order to analyze the effects of field randomness in the dynamical behavior of the system we calculate the time-dependent correlation function and the longitudinal relaxation function of the infinite chain. We consider a bi-modal distribution for the field energy strength, where one of its values equals the exchange coupling energy while the other value can be lower or higher than the coupling energy. We find that an increasing concentration of weaker fields produces an enhancement of the central mode behavior. However, when the concentration of stronger fields increases, the system undergoes a crossover from central mode to collective-type dynamics.

Crossover of the dynamical behavior in two-dimensional random transverse Ising model

Shu-Xia Chen, Yin-Yang Shen, Xiang-Mu Kong

The dynamics of the two-dimensional spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ random transverse Ising model is studied by means of the recurrence relations method. Both the autocorrelation functions and the corresponding spectral densities are calculated in the cases that the exchange couplings or fields satisfy three typical distributions, respectively. For the cases of Gaussian and double-Gaussian distribution, when the standard deviation of the random variable is small, the dynamics of the system undergoes a crossover from a central-peak behavior to a collective-mode one, the result is similar to that of the bimodal distribution. While the standard deviation is large enough, the crossover disappears and the dynamics of the system shows a central-peak behavior or a disordered behavior.

Dynamical behavior of the four-body transverse Ising model with random bonds and fields

B. Boechat, Claudette E. Cordeiro, O. F. de Alcantara Bonfim +2 more

We study the effect of random bonds and fields on the dynamical behavior of the one-dimensional transverse Ising model with four-spin interactions. We consider finite chains of increasing size to determine the time-dependent correlation function and the longitudinal relaxation function of the infinite chain. In this fully disordered system we observe a crossover from a collective modetype of dynamics to that of a central regime.
