Abstract

We simulate an optomechanical system via a cavity QED scenario with a movable atom and investigate its application in the tiny mass sensing. We find that the steady-state solution of the system exhibits a multiple stability behavior, which is similar to that in the optomechanical system. We explain this phenomenon by the opto-mechanical interaction term in the effective Hamiltonian. Due to the dressed states formed by the effective coupling between the vibration degree of the atom and the optical mode in the cavity, we observe a narrow transparent window in the output field. We utilize this vibration induced transparency phenomenon to perform the tiny mass sensing. We hope our study will broaden the application of the cavity QED system to quantum technologies.

Multiple optomechanically induced transparency and slow/fast light in a multicavity system with two-level atoms

Tianyu Zhou, Guixia Pan

Abstract We investigate the phenomenon of optomechanically induced transparency assisted by a hybrid two-cavity optomechanical system. The system consists of two optical cavities and four mechanical resonators, and each optical cavity is filled with two-level atomic ensembles. Our study demonstrates that the characteristics of optomechanically induced transparency vary with different coupling parameters. Specifically, the number of transparent windows increases with the introduction of atomic ensembles and Coulomb interaction. Furthermore, the positions of the transparent points can be manipulated by the coupling parameters. It is found that increasing the Coulomb coupling between mechanical oscillators shifts the transparent points further apart. Furthermore, we also explore the slow/fast light effect by analyzing the phase and group delay of the probe field. Our approach enables the control of multiple optomechanically induced transparency and provides potential applications in quantum information processing.

Electromagnetically induced transparency in cavity optomechanical system with -type atomic medium

Teng Qi, Yan Han, Ling Zhou

We study an ensemble of identical -type atoms confined inside a cavity optomechanical system. We show that when the atoms have no absorption and dispersion the output field of the optomechanical system present a transparency phenomenon. The oscillation of the mirror does not affect the transparency of the atomic medium while the existence of the atomic medium results in two transparency windows of the output cavity field. We also show that the frequency of the oscillation mirror affects the analogy transparency of the output cavity field.

Multiple optomechanically induced transparency in the hybrid optomechanical system with the two-level and three-level atomic ensembles

Abstract We investigate the optomechanically induced transparency in a hybrid optomechanical system, which consists of two optical cavities and a mechanical resonator. The two-level and three-level atomic ensembles are trapped in the two optical cavities, respectively. We focus on the changes in the number and width of transparency windows and the position of transparent points under different conditions influenced by various interactions. Five transparency windows can be observed when all the interactions are on. The introduction of two-level and three-level atomic ensembles can increase the number of transparency windows and also provide better flexibility for controlling the width of the transparency windows. Specifically, the two-level and three-level atomic ensembles contribute one and two transparency windows, respectively. The stronger coupling results in the larger transparency windows and movement of the transparent points. Moreover, we also study the slow/fast light phenomenon through the variation of phase and group delay. These results may contribute to the research of nonlinear optics and have potential applications in optical signal processing and communication.

Enhanced multicolor optomechanically induced transparency in electro-optical hybrid system

Guixia Pan, Ruijie Xiao, Chengbo Zhai

Abstract We investigate the tunable multicolor optomechanically induced transparency through electro-optical hybrid system. The system consists an optical cavity fulled with three-level atomic ensemble and two charged mechanical oscillators coupled via Coulomb interaction. Under different coupling strengths, the system can exhibit the phenomena of optomechanical induced transparency increase. Specifically, the number of the transparency windows increases with the presence of charged mechanical resonators and atoms. Furthermore, the induced transparency phenomena are strongly manipulated by the coupling strength between the optical mode and the mechanical mode, or between the optical mode and the atoms and the Rabi frequency, or between the Coulomb coupling between the two charged mechanical modes. It is found that the larger coupling strength between the cavity field and the atoms and the mechanical oscillator, the wider transparent windows. Our approach is feasible for storage of light and has potential applications in quantum information processing.

Tunable subluminal and superluminal light with optomechanical-induced transparency under steady-state configuration

Salman Khan, Muhammad Awais Chatha

Abstract We study a two-cavity optomechanical system in which one cavity ( A ) encloses a mechanical resonator and the other cavity ( C ) encloses a two-level atom are, respectively, driven by a strong pump and a weak probe fields. In addition to a direct pathway, the excitations in cavity C and the enclosed atom can also be caused through an indirect pathway. The interference between the two possible routs for excitations produces a controllable transparency window in the probe transmission spectrum of cavity C . The coupling strength between cavity C and the atom works as an additional parameter to the coupling strength between the two cavities which helps to manipulate the dynamical properties of the system and hence to control the width of the transparency window. Furthermore, we show that the single setup can be used to produce an optical switch from two different physical behaviors of the model, and to realize subluminal and superluminal behaviors in the output spectrum at probe frequency of cavity C .

Optomechanical electromagnetically induced transparency in inverted atomic configurations: a comparative view

A. Asghari Nejad, Hassan Randjbar Askari, Hamid Reza Baghshahi

Abstract We study electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT), which is affected by cavity optomechanics in different atomic configurations ( V and Λ ). The cavity mode is depicted as a probe field, and a classical driving field is applied to the atomic medium as the control laser in each system. Interaction between the cavity mode, atomic media and the oscillating mirror of the cavity can change the susceptibility of the atomic ensemble. Equations of motion demonstrate a system of nonlinear equations for each system. Nonlinearity of equations is a result of interaction between the cavity mode and atomic transitions. The equations are solved via a perturbation method. The results show two different aspects of atom-assisted optomechanics in V -type system: a common transparency window and an amplifying process in a transparency window that does not occur in the Λ configuration, notable as a considerable difference between the proposed systems. It is shown that classical field detuning leads to different changes in the susceptibility of both systems; other values of cavity detuning, except in the resonant case, can guarantee the occurrence of EIT in the system. For the initial value of the cavity field, a negative region appears in absorption spectrum of the V -type atomic ensemble. Meanwhile, the Λ configuration does not show a such process. According to our results, in the appearance of the transparency window, the position of movable mirror changes significantly.
