Abstract

Correlation relations for the spin measurements on a pair of entangled particles scattered by the two separate arms of interferometers in hybrid setups of different types are investigated. Concurrence, entanglement of formation, quantum fidelity, Bures distance are used to clarify how the geometric phase affects the initial bipartite state. This affect causes a quantum interference due to the movement of charged particles in regions where electromagnetic fields are not present. We shown that in some cases the geometric phase information is carried over to the final bipartite entangled state.

Relation between concurrence and Berry phase of an entangled state of two spin-(1/2) particles

We have studied here the influence of the Berry phase generated due to a cyclic evolution of an entangled state of two spin-(1/2) particles. It is shown that the measure of formation of entanglement is related to the cyclic geometric phase of the individual spins.

Geometric phase for entangled spin pairs

Erik Sjöqvist

The entanglement dependence of the noncyclic geometric phase is analyzed. A pair of noninteracting spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ particles prepared in an arbitrarily entangled state and precessing in an external time-independent uniform magnetic field is considered. It is shown that the geometric phase reduces to a sum of one-particle geometric phases for product states and takes on the two values corresponding to the phase factors $\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1$ for maximally entangled states. If only one of the particles is affected by the magnetic field it is demonstrated that the influence of entanglement on the geometric phase may be interpreted as an effective reduction of the degree of polarization of the affected particle. The generalization to more than two precessing spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ particles, in the particular case where Schmidt decompositions exists, is briefly outlined. The geometric phase for a pair of spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ particles with a spin-spin interaction is calculated. In this model we show that the noncyclic geometric phase for a certain class of states may be interpreted solely in terms of the solid angle enclosed by the geodesically closed curve on a two-sphere parametrized by the evolving Schmidt coefficients. This suggests a geometric interpretation of Schmidt decompositions for spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ pairs analogous to that of the Poincar\'e sphere for a single spin $\frac{1}{2}.$

Geometric phase and quantum correlations for a bipartite two-level system

Fernando C. Lombardo, Paula I. Villar

We calculate the geometric phase of a bipartite two-level system coupled to an external environment. We compute the correction to the unitary geometric phase through a kinematic approach. To this end, we analyse the reduced density matrix of the bipartite system after tracing over the environmental degrees of freedom, for arbitrary initial states of the composite system. In all cases considered, the correction to the unitary phase has a similar structure as a function of the degree of the entanglement of the initial state. In the case of a maximally entangled state (MES), the survival phase is only the topological phase, and there is no correction induced by the environments. Further, we compute the quantum discord and concurrence of the bipartite state and analyse possible relations among these quantities and the geometric phase acquired during the non-unitary system's evolution.

Separable states and geometric phases of an interacting two-spin system

Chengwang Niu, Guofu Xu, Longjiang Liu +3 more

It is known that an interacting bipartite system evolves as an entangled state in general, even if it is initially in a separable state. Due to the entanglement of the state, the geometric phase of the system is not equal to the sum of the geometric phases of its two subsystems. However, there may exist a set of states in which the nonlocal interaction does not affect the separability of the states, and the geometric phase of the bipartite system is then always equal to the sum of the geometric phases of its subsystems. In this article, we illustrate this point by investigating a well-known physical model. We give a necessary and sufficient condition in which a separable state remains separable so that the geometric phase of the system is always equal to the sum of the geometric phases of its subsystems.

Berry's geometric phase for two spin-1/2 particles in an entangled quantum system

Qing‐Hu Zhong

The entanglement dependence of Berry's geometric phase is studied in the case of two spin-1/2 particles with a spin-spin interaction.Berry's phases for two spin-1/2 entanglement particles in the presence of spin-spin interaction and noninteraction are calculated, respectively. The expression of calculating geometric phase, when entanglement vanishes,is obtained. Moreover, the geometric phase is discussed when only one of the two particles is affected by the external magnetic field. It is shown that its geometric phase is not equal to that of single particle which is acted by the external magnetic field, and the result is related toαthat affect the strength of entanglement. A general entanglement-dependence geometric phase is formulated.
