Crosscap states in the XXX spin-1/2 spin chain

Abstract

We consider integrable boundary states in the XXX spin-1/2 spin chain. We begin by briefly reviewing the algebraic Bethe Ansatz as well as integrable boundary states in spin chains. Then a recently discovered class of integrable states known as crosscap states is described and expanded. In these states each spin is entangled with its antipodal spin. We present a novel proof of the integrability of both a crosscap state that is known in the literature and one that has not previously been studied. We then use the machinery of the algebraic Bethe Ansatz to derive the overlaps between the crosscap states and off-shell Bethe states.

Integrable crosscap states: from spin chains to 1D Bose gas

Miao He, Yunfeng Jiang

Abstract The notion of a crosscap state, a special conformal boundary state first defined in 2d CFT, was recently generalized to 2d massive integrable quantum field theories and integrable spin chains. It has been shown that the crosscap states preserve integrability. In this work, we first generalize this notion to the Lieb-Liniger model, which is a prototype of integrable non-relativistic many-body systems. We then show that the defined crosscap state preserves integrability. We derive the exact overlap formula of the crosscap state and the on-shell Bethe states. As a byproduct, we prove the conjectured overlap formula for integrable spin chains rigorously by coordinate Bethe ansatz. It turns out that the overlap formula for both models take the same form as a ratio of Gaudin-like determinants with a trivial prefactor. Finally we study quench dynamics of the crosscap state, which turns out to be surprisingly simple. The stationary density distribution is simply a constant. We also derive the analytic formula for dynamical correlation functions in the Tonks-Girardeau limit.

On exact overlaps in integrable spin chains

Yunfeng Jiang, Balázs Pozsgay

Abstract We compute the exact overlaps between integrable boundary states and on-shell Bethe states for integrable spin chains. Our method is based on the coordinate Bethe Ansatz and does not rely on the “rotation trick” of the corresponding lattice model. It leads to a rigorous proof of the factorized overlap formulae in a number of cases, some of which were hitherto inaccessible to earlier methods. As concrete examples, we consider the compact XXX and XXZ Heisenberg spin chains, and the non-compact SL(2, ℝ) spin chain.

Integrable crosscap states in $$ \mathfrak{gl} $$(N) spin chains

Tamás Gombor

Abstract We study the integrable crosscap states of the integrable quantum spin chains and we classify them for the $$ \mathfrak{gl} $$ gl (N) symmetric models. We also give a derivation for the exact overlaps between the integrable crosscap states and the Bethe states. The first part of the derivation is to calculate sum formula for the off-shell overlap. Using this formula we prove that the normalized overlaps of the multi-particle states are ratios of the Gaudin-like determinants. Furthermore we collect the integrable crosscap states which can be relevant in the AdS/CFT correspondence.

Recursive formulas for the overlaps between Bethe states and product states in XXZ Heisenberg chains

Lorenzo Piroli, Pasquale Calabrese

We consider the problem of computing the overlaps between the Bethe states of the XXZ spin-1/2 chain and generic states. We derive recursive formulas for the overlaps between some simple product states and off-shell Bethe states within the framework of the algebraic Bethe ansatz. These recursive formulas can be used to prove in a simple and straightforward way the recently obtained results for the overlaps of the Bethe states with the Néel state, the dimer state, and the q -deformed dimer state. However, these recursive formulas are derived for a broader class of states and represent a concrete starting point for the computation of rather general overlaps. Our approach can be easily extended to other one-dimensional Bethe ansatz integrable models.

Quantum Entanglement of Bethe States

Yu Hao, Yunfeng Jiang, Bi-Quan Yang +1 more

We investigate the quantum entanglement of Bethe states across a family of integrable spin chains, including the XXX$_{\frac{1}{2}}$ model, its higher-spin generalizations (XXX$_s$), and the non-compact $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$ chain. For on-shell eigenstates, we perform a comprehensive scan of the bipartite entanglement entropy across the entire spectrum of finite chains with periodic boundary conditions, and identify the Bethe solutions that minimize and maximize the entanglement. These extremal solutions follow systematic, spin-dependent patterns in the Bethe quantum numbers. In the XXX$_{\frac{1}{2}}$ spin chain, for the antiferromagnetic chain, the state with minimal entropy always coincides with the lowest-energy state (the ground state) within a given fixed-magnon sector. For the higher-spin XXX$_s$ model, however, the lowest-entropy state is not always identical to the ground state, and can even be the state of highest energy. By contrast, the Bethe roots that maximize entropy exhibit considerably more intricate structure. Our analysis further reveals how special Bethe root configurations, such as singular and strange solutions, affect entanglement, and it uncovers characteristic entanglement features in the non-compact $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$ chain that are absent from compact spin chains. For off-shell Bethe states, we develop an optimization algorithm that extremizes the entanglement entropy over rapidity distributions, enabling us to explore the maximum entanglement achievable by a Bethe state without imposing the Bethe ansatz equations.

Crosscap states with tunable entanglement as exact eigenstates of local spin chain Hamiltonians

Márton Mestyán, Balázs Pozsgay

Abstract It has been observed recently that various spin chain Hamiltonians admit special zero energy ‘crosscap’ eigenstates. These states are made up of maximally entangled Bell pairs prepared on antipodal sites of a periodic chain. We generalize the states by allowing the antipodal pairs to have non-maximal, tunable entanglement. We give sufficient conditions for such states to be exact zero energy eigenstates of a local Hamiltonian. The conditions are naturally satisfied in many models which have a global U (1) symmetry. These models include well known integrable models such as the XX model, the Bariev model, the folded XXZ model, and also a variety of non-integrable models. Using the zero-energy crosscap states we also derive a family of exact zero modes with sub-volume law entanglement.
