Abstract

Quantum error correction is fundamentally important for quantum information processing and computation. Quantum error correction codes have been studied and constructed since the pioneering papers of Shor and Steane. Optimal (called MDS) $q$-qubit quantum codes attaining the quantum Singleton bound were constructed for very restricted lengths $n \leq q^2+1$. Entanglement-assisted quantum error correction (EAQEC) code was proposed to use the pre-shared maximally entangled state for the enhancing of error correction capability. Recently there have been a lot of constructions of MDS EAQEC codes attaining the quantum Singleton bound for very restricted lengths. In this paper we construct such MDS EAQEC $[[n, k, d, c]]_q$ codes for arbitrary $n$ satisfying $n \leq q^2+1$ and arbitrary distance $d\leq \frac{n+2}{2}$. It is proved that for any given length $n$ satisfying $O(q^2)=n \leq q^2+1$ and any given distance $d$ satisfying $ O(q^2)=d \leq \frac{n+2}{2}$, there exist at least $O(q^2)$ MDS EAQEC $[[n, k, d, c]]_q$ codes with different $c$ parameters. Our results show that there are much more MDS entanglement-assisted quantum codes than MDS quantum codes without consumption of the maximally entangled state. This is natural from the physical point of view. Our method can also be applied to construct MDS entanglement-assisted quantum codes from the generalized MDS twisted Reed-Solomon codes.

A new method for constructing EAQEC MDS codes

Peng Hu, Xiusheng Liu

Entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting (EAQEC) codes make use of preexisting entanglement between the sender and receiver to boost the rate of transmission. It is possible to construct an EAQEC code from any classical linear code, unlike standard quantum error-correcting codes, which can only be constructed from dual-containing codes. However, the number $c$ of pre-shared maximally entangled states is usually calculated by computer search. In this paper, we first give a new formula for calculating the number $c$ of pre-shared maximally entangled states. Then, using this formula, we construct three classes of new entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting maximum-distance-separable ( EAQEC MDS) codes.

Constructions of q-ary entanglement-assisted quantum MDS codes with minimum distance greater than q+1

he entanglement-assisted stabilizer formalism provides a useful framework for constructing quantum error-correcting codes (QECC), which can transform arbitrary classical linear codes into entanglement-assisted quantum error correcting codes (EAQECCs) by using pre-shared entanglement between the sender and the receiver. In this paper, we construct five classes of entanglement-assisted quantum MDS (EAQMDS) codes based on classical MDS codes by exploiting one or more pre-shared maximally entangled states. We show that these EAQMDS codes have much larger minimum distance than the standard quantum MDS (QMDS) codes of the same length, and three classes of these EAQMDS codes consume only one pair of maximally entangled states.

Applications of Constacyclic Codes to Some New Entanglement-Assisted Quantum MDS Codes

Jian‐Zhang Chen, Youqin Chen, Dong Yu +3 more

Generally, it is not easy to construct quantum maximal-distance-separable (MDS) codes with the minimum distance greater than$\frac {q}{2}+1$. The minimum distance of quantum MDS codes can achieve$\frac {q}{2}+1$or exceed$\frac {q}{2}+1$by adopting pre-shared entanglement. In this work, some new families of entanglement-assisted quantum MDS codes that satisfy the quantum Singleton bound are constructed and the number of maximally entangled states required is determined to make the minimum distance of some constructed codes achieve$\frac {q}{2}+1$or exceed$\frac {q}{2}+1$by utilizing the decomposition of the defining set and$q^{2}$-cyclotomic cosets of constacyclic codes with length$\frac {q^{2}+1}{\gamma }$, where$\gamma =t^{2}+1$,$t$is a power of 2 and$q=t^{e}>4$with$e\equiv 1~\textrm {mod}~4$or$e\equiv 3~\textrm {mod}~4$. Moreover, the parameters of these codes constructed in this paper are more general relative to the ones in the literature and the minimum distance of some codes constructed in this paper is larger than$\frac {q}{2}+1$.

Entanglement-Assisted Quantum Codes from Cyclic Codes

Francisco Revson F. Pereira, Stefano Mancini

Entanglement-assisted quantum-error-correcting (EAQEC) codes are quantum codes which use entanglement as a resource. These codes can provide better error correction than the (entanglement unassisted) codes derived from the traditional stabilizer formalism. In this paper, we provide a general method to construct EAQEC codes from cyclic codes. Afterwards, the method is applied to Reed-Solomon codes, BCH codes, and general cyclic codes. We use the Euclidean and Hermitian construction of EAQEC codes. Three families have been created: two families of EAQEC codes are maximal distance separable (MDS), and one is almost MDS or almost near MDS. The comparison of the codes in this paper is mostly based on the quantum Singleton bound.

MDS codes with Hermitian hulls of arbitrary dimensions and their quantum error correction.

Lanqiang Li, Shixin Zhu, Li Liu +1 more

The Hermitian hull of linear codes plays an important role in coding theory and quantum coding theory. In this paper, we first construct some infinite classes of MDS codes over finite field by considering generalized Reed-Solomon codes or extended generalized Reed- Solomon codes and determine their Hermitian hulls. The results indicate that these codes constructed have Hermitian hulls of (almost) arbitrary dimensions. Furthermore, based on these MDS codes constructed with Hermitian hulls of arbitrary dimensions, we obtain several infinite classes of entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting (EAQEC) MDS codes whose maximally entangled states c can take almost all values. Moreover, most of the EAQEC MDS codes constructed are new in the sense that their parameters are different from all the previously known ones.

Construction of entanglement-assisted quantum MDS codes

Abstract Entanglement-assisted quantum error correction codes (EAQEECs) can improve the reliability of transmission, which make use of pre-existing entanglement between two parties. In this paper, we construct two classes of entanglement-assisted quantum maximum distance separable (EAQMDS) codes via generalized Reed-Solomon (GRS) codes. Consequently, the results show that some of these EAQMDS codes have much larger minimum distance than ones available in the literature. Meanwhile, many of these EAQMDS codes are new in the sense that the parameters of these codes are not covered by the previously known ones. (Abstract)
