Abstract

We present an error-detected hyperparallel Toffoli (hyper-Toffoli) gate for a three-photon system based on the interface between polarized photon and cavity-nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center system. This hyper-Toffoli gate can be used to perform double Toffoli gate operations simultaneously on both the polarization and spatial-mode degrees of freedom (DoFs) of a three-photon system with a low decoherence, shorten operation time, and less quantum resources required, in compared with those on two independent three-photon systems in one DoF only. As the imperfect cavity-NV-center interactions are transformed into the detectable failures rather than infidelity based on the heralding mechanism of detectors, a near-unit fidelity of the quantum hyper-Toffoli gate can be implemented. By recycling the procedures, the efficiency of our protocol for the hyper-Toffoli gate is improved further. Meanwhile, the evaluation of gate performance with achieved experiment parameters shows that it is feasible with current experimental technology and provides a promising building block for quantum compute.

Universal hyperparallel hybrid photonic quantum gates with dipole-induced transparency in the weak-coupling regime

Bao‐Cang Ren, Guanyu Wang, Fu‐Guo Deng

We present the dipole induced transparency (DIT) of a diamond nitrogen-vacancy center embedded in a photonic crystal cavity coupled to two waveguides, and it is obvious with the robust and flexible reflectance and transmittance difference of circularly polarized lights between the uncoupled and the coupled cavities even in the bad cavity regime (the Purcell regime). With this DIT, we propose two universal hyperparallel hybrid photonic quantum logic gates, including a hybrid hyper-controlled-not gate and a hybrid hyper-Toffoli gate, on photon systems in both the polarization and the spatial-mode degrees of freedom (DOFs), which are equal to two identical quantum logic gates operating simultaneously on the systems in one DOF. They can be used to perform more quantum operations with less resources in the quantum information protocols with multiqubit systems in several DOFs, which may depress the resources consumed and the photonic dissipation. Moreover, they are more robust against asymmetric environment noise in the weak-coupling regime, compared with the integration of two cascaded quantum logic gates in one DOF.

A heralded and error-rejecting three-photon hyper-parallel quantum gate through cavity-assisted interactions

Jizhen Liu, Hai‐Rui Wei, Ning‐Yang Chen

Hyper-parallel quantum computation is a promising and fruitful area of research with its high capacity and low loss rate characters. In this paper, we propose a heralded, compact, scalable, and deterministic error-rejecting scheme for implementing three-photon hyper-parallel Toffoli gate simultaneously acting on polarization and spatial degrees of freedom. It is a practical and unity gate without strong coupling strength limitations, since the undesired performances caused by the side leakage and the limited coupling strength are detected by the single-photon detectors. The success of our proposal can be heralded by the detectors, and the efficiency can be further improved by repeating the operation processes when the detectors are clicked. The evaluation of gate performance with experimental parameters shows that it is feasible with current experimental technology.

High-Fidelity Photonic Three-Degree-of-Freedom Hyperparallel Controlled-Phase-Flip Gate

Guan-Yu Wang, Hai‐Rui Wei

Encoding computing qubits in multiple degrees of freedom (DOFs) of a photonic system allows hyperparallel quantum computation to enlarge channel capacity with less quantum resource, and constructing high-fidelity hyperparallel quantum gates is always recognized as a fundamental prerequisite for hyperparallel quantum computation. Herein, we propose an approach for implementing a high-fidelity photonic hyperparallel controlled-phase-flip (CPF) gate working with polarization, spatial-mode, and frequency DOFs, through utilizing the practical interaction between the single photon and the diamond nitrogen vacancy (NV) center embedded in the cavity. Particularly, the desired output state of the gate without computation errors coming from the practical interaction is obtained, and the robust fidelity is guaranteed in the nearly realistic condition. Meanwhile, the requirement for the experimental realization of the gate is relaxed. In addition, this approach can be generalized to complete the high-fidelity photonic three-DOF hyperparallel CPFN gate and parity-check gate. These interesting features may make the present scheme have potential for applications in the hyperparallel quantum computation.

Robust universal photonic quantum gates operable with imperfect processes involved in diamond nitrogen-vacancy centers inside low-Q single-sided cavities

Ming Li, Mei Zhang

Robust universal quantum gates with an extremely high fidelity hold an important position in large-scale quantum computing. Here, we propose a scheme for several robust universal photonic quantum gates on a two-or three-photon system, including the controlled-NOT gate, the Toffoli gate, and the Fredkin gate, assisted by low-Q single-sided cavities. In our scheme, the quantum gates are robust against imperfect process occurring with the photons and the electron spins in diamond nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers inside low-Q cavities. Errors due to the imperfect process are transferred to some heralding responses, which may lead to a direct recycling procedure to remedy the success probability of the quantum gates. As a result, the adverse impact of the imperfect process on fidelity is eliminated, greatly relaxing the restrictions on implementation of various quantum gates in experiments. Furthermore, the scheme is designed in a compact and heralded style, which can increase the robustness against environmental noise and local fluctuation, thus decreasing the operation time, the error probability, and the quantum resource consumption in a large-scale integrated quantum circuit. The near-unity fidelity and not-too-low efficiency with current achievable experimental techniques guarantees the feasibility of the scheme.

Robust hyperparallel photonic quantum entangling gate with cavity QED

Bao‐Cang Ren, Fu‐Guo Deng

Under the balance condition of the diamond nitrogen vacancy center embedded in an optical cavity as a result of cavity quantum electrodynamics, we present a robust hyperparallel photonic controlled-phase-flip gate for a two-photon system in both the polarization and spatial-mode degrees of freedom (DOFs), in which the noise caused by the inequality of two reflection coefficients can be depressed efficiently. This gate doubles the quantum entangling operation synchronously on a photon system and can reduce the quantum resources consumed largely and depress the photonic dissipation efficiently, compared with the two cascade quantum entangling gates in one DOF. It has a near unit fidelity. Moreover, we show that the balance condition can be obtained in both the weak coupling regime and the strong coupling regime, and the high-fidelity quantum gate operation is easier to be realized in the balance condition than the ones in the ideal condition in experiment.

Implementations of two-photon four-qubit Toffoli and Fredkin gates assisted by nitrogen-vacancy centers

Hai-Rui Wei, Pei-Jin Zhu

It is desirable to implement an efficient quantum information process demanding fewer quantum resources. We designed two compact quantum circuits for determinately implementing four-qubit Toffoli and Fredkin gates on single-photon systems in both the polarization and spatial degrees of freedom (DoFs) via diamond nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in resonators. The gates are heralded by the electron spins associated with the diamond NV centers. In contrast to the ones with one DoF, our implementations reduce the quantum resource and are robust against the decoherence. Evaluations of fidelities and efficiencies of our gates show that our schemes may be implemented with current technology.
