Network nonlocality sharing via weak measurements in the generalized star network configuration

Abstract

Network nonlocality exhibits completely novel quantum correlations compared to standard quantum nonlocality. It has been shown that network nonlocality can be shared in a generalized bilocal scenario via weak measurements [Hou, Liu, and Ren, Phys. Rev. A 105, 042436 (2022)]. In this paper, we investigate network nonlocality sharing via weak measurements in a generalized star-shaped network configuration with arbitrary numbers of unbiased dichotomic input $k$, which includes $n$ branches and adds $(m\ensuremath{-}1)$ more parties in each branch to the original star network $(n,m=1,k=2)$ scenario. It is shown that network nonlocality sharing among all observers can be revealed from simultaneous violation of ${2}^{n}$ inequalities in the $(n,m=2,k=2)$ and $(n,m=2,k=3)$ scenarios for any $n$ branches. The noise resistance of network nonlocality sharing with a precise noise model is also analyzed.

Network Nonlocality Sharing in Generalized Star Network from Bipartite Bell Inequalities

Hao-Miao Jiang, Xiang-Jiang Chen, Liu-Jun Wang +1 more

This work investigates network nonlocality sharing for a broad class of bipartite Bell inequalities in a generalized star network with an $(n,m,k)$ configuration, comprising $n$ independent branches, $m$ sequential Alices per branch, and $k$ measurement settings per party. On each branch, the intermediate Alices implement optimal weak measurements, whereas the final Alice and the central Bob perform sharp projective measurements. Network nonlocality sharing is witnessed when the quantum values of the network correlations associated with relevant parties simultaneously violate a star-network Bell inequality generated from the given class of bipartite Bell inequalities. We streamline the calculation of the quantum values of the network correlations and derive an analytical expression for the bipartite quantum correlator, valid for arbitrary measurement settings and weak-measurement strengths. The network nonlocality sharing for Vértesi inequalities has been studied within the framework, and simultaneous violations are found in $(2,2,6)$ and $(2,2,465)$ cases, with the latter exhibiting greater robustness. Our approach suggests a practical route to studying network nonlocality sharing by utilizing diverse bipartite Bell inequalities beyond the commonly used CHSH-type constructions.

Network nonlocality sharing via weak measurements in the extended bilocal scenario

Wenlin Hou, Xiaowei Liu, Changliang Ren

Quantum network correlations have attracted strong interest because they may reveal new types of locality violations. Here we investigated network nonlocality sharing in the extended bilocal scenario via weak measurements, which adds one more observer to either end of the well-known entanglement-swapping scenario. Intriguingly, network nonlocality sharing can be revealed from the multiple violation of the Branciard-Rosset-Gisin-Pironio inequality by considering two contrasting motivations of intermediate observers, which has no counterpart in standard Bell scenarios. In addition, the noise resistance of network nonlocality sharing was also discussed.

Device-Independent Full Network Nonlocality for Arbitrary-Party and Unbounded-Input Scenario

Sneha Munshi, A. K. Pan

The nonlocality arising in a multiparty network involving multiple independent sources radically differs from the standard multipartite Bell nonlocality involving a single source. The notion of the full network nonlocality (FNN) [A. Pozas-Kerstjens et al., Full network nonlocality, Phys. Rev. Lett. 128, 010403 (2022)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.128.010403] characterizes the quantum correlations that cannot be reproduced by a local-nonlocal model featuring one local source and the rest of nonlocal no-signaling sources. However, the demonstration of FNN was limited to bilocal and trilocal star-shaped network scenarios involving three or two dichotomic measurements for edge parties. In this Letter, we first demonstrate that a large class of prevailing network inequalities does not exhibit FNN. We then introduce an elegant set of arbitrary-party and unbounded-input network inequalities in star-shaped and linear-chain networks whose optimal quantum violation exhibits FNN, certifying that the nonlocality is genuinely distributed to the entire network. Contrasting to existing demonstrations of FNN that inevitably require fixed-input and four-output elegant joint measurements for the central party, our generalized inequalities are more experimentally friendly, requiring only two output measurements. Moreover, our derivation of optimal quantum violation is fully analytic and devoid of assuming the dimension of the quantum system, thereby showcasing its potential for device-independent self-testing.

Nonlocal correlations in the star-network configuration

Armin Tavakoli, Paul Skrzypczyk, Daniel Cavalcanti +1 more

The concept of bilocality was introduced to study the correlations which arise in an entanglement-swapping scenario, where one has two sources which can naturally be taken to be independent. This additional constraint leads to stricter requirements than simply imposing locality, in the form of bilocality inequalities. In this work we consider a natural generalization of the bilocality scenario; namely, the star network consisting of a single central party surrounded by $n$ edge parties, each of which shares an independent source with the center. We derive inequalities which are satisfied by all local correlations in this scenario, for the cases when the central party performs (i) two dichotomic measurements (ii) a single Bell-state measurement. We demonstrate quantum violations of these inequalities and study both the robustness to noise and to losses.

Full Network nonlocality sharing in extended scenario via Optimal Weak Measurements

Zinuo Cai, Changliang Ren

Quantum networks, which can exceed the framework of standard bell theorem, flourish the investigation of quantum nonlocality further. Recently, a concept of full quantum network nonlocality (FNN) which is stronger than network nonlocality, has been defined and can be witnessed by Kerstjens-Gisin-Tavakoli (KGT) inequalities [Phys. Rev. Lett. 128 (2022)]. In this letter, we explored the recycling of FNN as quantum resources by analyzing the FNN sharing between different combinations of observers. The FNN sharing in extended bilocal scenario via weak measurements has been completely discussed. According to the different motivations of the observer-Charlie1, two types of possible FNN sharing, passive FNN sharing and active FNN sharing, can be investigated by checking the simultaneous violation of KGT inequalities between Alice-Bob-Charlie1 and Alice-Bob- Charlie2. Our results show that passive FNN sharing is impossible while active FNN sharing can be achieved by proper measurements, which indicate that FNN sharing requires more cooperation by the intermediate observers compared with Bell nonlocal sharing and network nonlocal sharing.
