Abstract

Abstract In this article, single, and two‐qubit central spin systems interacting with spin baths are considered and their dynamical properties are discussed. The cases of interacting and non‐interacting spin baths are considered and the quantum speed limit (QSL) time of evolution is investigated. The impact of the size of the spin bath on the quantum speed limit for a single qubit central spin model is analyzed. The quantum correlations for (non‐)interacting two central spin qubits are estimated and their dynamical behavior with that of QSL time under various conditions are compared. How QSL time could be availed to analyze the dynamics of quantum correlations is shown.

Quantum speed limit time of a spin qubit in noninteracting spin bath

Muhammad Musadiq, Salman Khan, Muhammad Javed +1 more

We study the dynamic of quantum speed limit (QSL) time of a qubit coupled to a bath of noninteracting spins. The investigations are carried under both exact and approximate solutions of the model and the results of the two approaches are compared with each other. Under the exact solution and in the low temperature limit, QSL time becomes independent of the number of spins in the environment with potential capacity for quantum speed up. Beyond a critical value of temperature, there exists a frequency of the spins that reduces the capacity for speeding up quantum evolution. The effects of driving time, nonuniform frequencies of the bath’s spins and coupling strength on QSL time are also investigated.

Quantum speed limit in a qubit-spin-bath system

Lu Hou, Bin Shao, Yong-Bo Wei +1 more

We investigate the behavior of quantum speed limit (QSL) time for a typical non-Markovian system, a central spin coupled to a spin star configuration. We connect the QSL time with an external control and show that the effectiveness of the external magnetic field, as well as the coupling strength, is related to the fundamental bounds that affect the maximum speed at which a quantum system can evolve in its state space. We also demonstrate that a spin bath with larger size may shorten the QSL time, while the upper state population plays an important role for the acceleration of quantum evolution in the memory surrounding.

Dynamics of two central spins immersed in spin baths

Devvrat Tiwari, Shounak Datta, Samyadeb Bhattacharya +1 more

In this article we derive the exact dynamics of a two-qubit (spin $1/2$) system interacting centrally with separate spin baths composed of qubits in a thermal state. Furthermore, each spin of the bath is coupled to every other spin of the same bath. The corresponding dynamical map is constructed. It is used to analyze the non-Markovian nature of the two qubit central spin dynamics. We further observe the evolution of quantum correlations like entanglement and discord under the influence of the environmental interaction. Moreover, we demonstrate the comparison between this exact two-qubit dynamics and the locally acting central spin model in a spin bath. This work is a stepping stone towards the realization of non-Markovian heat engines and other quantum thermal devices.

Quantum speed limit time, non-Markovianity and quantum phase transition in Ising spins system

Muhammad Musadiq, Salman Khan

Abstract We study the dynamics of quantum speed limit (QSL) time of a central spin, uniformly interacting with the spins of an Ising spin chain placed in a transverse magnetic field, and the non-Markovianity of the spin environment. Both pure and time dependent mixed initial states of the central spin are taken into account. For a pure initial state, both the quantities work as indicators for quantum phase transition (QPT) and can locate the critical point (CP). For a time dependent mixed initial state of the central spin, QSL time also shows anomalous behavior in the vicinity of the CP, a signature of signaling QPT. The numerical simulations show that the spin environment has potential capacity for speeding up quantum evolution, which can be manipulated through the strength of the applied magnetic field.

Experimental investigation of geometric quantum speed limits in an open quantum system

Diego Paiva Pires, Eduardo Ribeiro DeAzevedo, Diogo O. Soares-Pinto +2 more

Abstract The quantum speed limit (QSL) is a fundamental lower bound on the evolution time for quantum systems, and its tightness has been observed to be dependent on the properties of the physical process. However, experimental studies exploring the QSL in open quantum systems are still missing. Here, we studied geometric quantum speed limits of a qubit subject to decoherence in an ensemble of chloroform molecules in a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance experiment. We controlled the system-reservoir interaction and the spin relaxation rates by adding a paramagnetic salt, allowing the observation of both Markovian and non-Markovian open system dynamics for the qubit. We used two distinguishability measures of quantum states to assess the speed of the qubit evolution: the quantum Fisher information (QFI) and Wigner-Yanase skew information (WY). For non-Markovianity and low salt concentrations, we found crossovers between QSLs related to those metrics. The WY metric sets the tighter QSL for high concentrations and Markovian dynamics. We also show that QSLs are sensitive even to small fluctuations in spin magnetization.

Variation of quantum speed limit under Markovian and non-Markovian noisy environment

Natasha Awasthi, Dheeraj Kumar Joshi, Surbhi Sachdev

Abstract The time required for a given quantum system to evolve is known as the quantum speed limit (QSL), which can be used to characterize the speed of evolution of a quantum system. We study QSL time for Markovian and non-Markovian dynamics. Investigating the effect of QSL under non-unitary evolution is of fundamental interest. In this work, we derive QSL time for maximally entangled state and apply its results under various noise channels. We discuss measure of QSL, how correlations affect the rate of QSL. Further, we carried an investigation on connection between non-Markovianity and QSL. We show that the non Markovian evolution can speed up quantum evolution, therefore lead to smaller QSL time. We have established the connections between correlated channels, information loss and non-Markovianity. This theory may suggest some further connections to retrieve back information from surrounding and preserves decoherence.
