Abstract

We present a Law of Large Numbers principle for uniformly continuous random quantum dynamical semigroups. Random iterates of independent copies of these semigroups are shown to be Chernoff equivalent to the quantum dynamical semigroup by the average generator.

Markov Approximations of the Evolution of Quantum Systems

John Edward Gough, Yu. N. Orlov, Vsevolod Zhanovich Sakbaev +1 more

Abstract The convergence in probability of a sequence of iterations of independent random quantum dynamical semigroups to a Markov process describing the evolution of an open quantum system is studied. The statistical properties of the dynamics of open quantum systems with random generators of Markovian evolution are described in terms of the law of large numbers for operator-valued random processes. For compositions of independent random semigroups of completely positive operators, the convergence of mean values to a semigroup described by the Gorini–Kossakowski–Sudarshan–Lindblad equation is established. Moreover, a sequence of random operator-valued functions with values in the set of operators without the infinite divisibility property is shown to converge in probability to an operator-valued function with values in the set of infinitely divisible operators.

Feynman—Chernoff Iterations and Their Applications in Quantum Dynamics

Yu. N. Orlov, Vsevolod Zhanovich Sakbaev

The notion of Chernoff equivalence for operator-valued functions is generalized to the solutions of quantum evolution equations with respect to the density matrix. A semigroup is constructed that is Chernoff equivalent to the operator function arising as the mean value of random semigroups. As applied to the problems of quantum optics, an operator is constructed that is Chernoff equivalent to a translation operator generating coherent states.

Operator Random Walks and Quantum Oscillator

Abstract We investigate asymptotic properties of a sequence whose elements are probability distributions which correspond to compositions of independent random operators. We prove the following statements: 1) a sequence whose elements are the expected values which corresponds to compositions of independent identically distributed random semigroups converges to a semigroup which is generated by the expected value of the random generator; 2) an analog of the law of large numbers for a sequence whose elements are compositions of independent identically distributed random semigroups; 3) a sequence whose elements are compositions of random shift operators on position space converges to a semigroup generated by the Laplace operator; 4) a sequence whose elements are compositions of random shift operators on position space and random shift operators in momentum space converges to a semigroup generated by the Hamiltonian of the quantum oscillator; 5) a sequence whose elements are compositions of random shift operators on phase space converges to a semigroup generated by the Hamiltonian of the quantum oscillator.

Feynman formulas as a method of averaging random Hamiltonians

Yu. N. Orlov, Vsevolod Zhanovich Sakbaev, Oleg Georgievich Smolyanov

We propose a method for finding the mathematical expectation of random unbounded operators in a Hilbert space. The method is based on averaging random one-parameter semigroups by means of the Feynman-Chernoff formula. We also consider an application of this method to the description of various operations that assign quantum Hamiltonians to the classical Hamilton functions.

The Law of Large Numbers for Discrete Generalized Quantum Channels

Sviatoslav V. Dzhenzher, Vsevolod Zhanovich Sakbaev

We consider random linear operators $$\Omega\to\mathcal{L}(\mathcal{T}_{p},\mathcal{T}_{p})$$ acting in a $$p$$ th Schatten class $$\mathcal{T}_{p}$$ in a separable Hilbert space $$\mathcal{H}$$ for some $$1\leqslant p<\infty$$ . Such a superoperator is called pre-channel since it is an extension of a quantum channel to a wider class of operators without requirements of trace-preserving and positivity. Instead of sum of i.i.d. variables there may be considered the composition of random semigroups $$e^{A_{i}t/n}$$ in the Banach space $$\mathcal{T}_{p}$$ . The law of large numbers is known in the case $$p=2$$ in the form of the usual law of large numbers for random operators in a Hilbert space. We obtain the law of large numbers for the case $$1\leqslant p\leqslant 2$$ .

Dynamics of Singular Quantum States Generated by Averaging Random Shifts

Vladimir Mikhailovich Busovikov, V. Zh. Sakbaev

Abstract Random walks in a real separable Hilbert space correspond to a composition of random unitary operators in the space of functions square integrable with respect to a translation-invariant measure, as well as to a composition of random unitary channels in the space of quantum states. Conditions on the distribution of random walks that are necessary and sufficient for the continuity of the mathematical expectations of their representations in the Hilbert space and the space of quantum states are obtained. The dynamics of the set of quantum states obtained by averaging random shifts over the semigroup (with respect to the convolution operation) of centered Gaussian measures on the Hilbert space is studied. It is shown that, depending on the property of the covariance operator of the Gaussian measure to have a nuclear square root, such dynamics is either a strongly continuous quantum dynamical semigroup or instantaneously destroys the set of normal states. In the latter case, the dynamics of singular quantum states is described in terms of the evolution of mean values on an operator algebra that implements a representation of canonical commutation relations.
