Engineering Classical Capacity of Generalized Pauli Channels with Admissible Memory Kernels

Abstract

In this paper, we analyze the classical capacity of the generalized Pauli channels generated via memory kernel master equations. For suitable engineering of the kernel parameters, evolution with non-local noise effects can produce dynamical maps with a higher capacity than a purely Markovian evolution. We provide instructive examples for qubit and qutrit evolution. Interestingly, similar behavior is not observed when analyzing time-local master equations.

Engineering fidelity of the generalized Pauli channels via legitimate memory kernels

Katarzyna Siudzińska, Dariusz Chruściński

We analyze the fidelity of the generalized Pauli channels governed by memory kernel master equations. It is shown that by appropriate engineering of parameters of the corresponding memory kernel, the quantum evolution with nonlocal noise can have higher fidelity than the corresponding purely Markovian evolution governed by the Markovian semigroup. Similar engineering can substantially influence the evolution of quantum entanglement, entropy, and quantum coherence. Interestingly, by adding a nonlocal noise, one can protect the system against a sudden death of entanglement.

Memory kernel approach to generalized Pauli channels: Markovian, semi-Markov, and beyond

Katarzyna Siudzińska, Dariusz Chruściński

In this paper we analyze the evolution of generalized Pauli channels governed by the memory kernel master equation. We provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the memory kernel to give rise to legitimate (completely positive and trace-preserving) quantum evolution. In particular, we analyze a class of kernels generating the quantum semi-Markov evolution, which is a natural generalization of the Markovian semigroup. Interestingly, the convex combination of Markovian semigroups goes beyond the semi-Markov case. Our analysis is illustrated with several examples.

Markovian semigroup from mixing noninvertible dynamical maps

Katarzyna Siudzińska

We analyze the convex combinations of noninvertible generalized Pauli dynamical maps. By manipulating the mixing parameters, one can produce a channel with shifted singularities, additional singularities, or even no singularities whatsoever. In particular, we show how to use noninvertible dynamical maps to produce the Markovian semigroup. Interestingly, the maps whose mixing results in a semigroup are generated by the time-local generators and time-homogeneous memory kernels that are not regular; that is, their formulas contain infinities. Finally, we show how the generators and memory kernels change after mixing the corresponding dynamical maps.

We provided a class of legitimate memory kernels leading to completely positive trace preserving dynamical maps. Our construction is based on a simple normalization procedure.Interestingly, when applied to the celebrated Wigner-Weisskopf theory it gives the standard Markovian evolution governed by the local master equation.

Structure of completely positive quantum master equations with memory kernel

Heinz‐Peter Breuer, Bassano Vacchini

Semi-Markov processes represent a well-known and widely used class of random processes in classical probability theory. Here, we develop an extension of this type of non-Markovian dynamics to the quantum regime. This extension is demonstrated to yield quantum master equations with memory kernels which allow the formulation of explicit conditions for the complete positivity of the corresponding quantum dynamical maps, thus leading to important insights into the structural characterization of the non-Markovian quantum dynamics of open systems. Explicit examples are analyzed in detail.
