We investigate the dynamics of rotating pseudo-spin-1/2 Bose–Einstein condensates (BECs) with Rashba spin–orbit coupling (SOC) in a quasicrystalline optical lattice (QOL). For given parameters, the system evolves from an initial heliciform-stripe phase into a final visible vortex necklace with a giant vortex and a hidden vortex necklace. Simultaneously, the corresponding spin texture undergoes a transition from a meron–antimeron pair to a half-antiskyrmion necklace. During the dynamic evolution process, the angular momentum increases gradually, and then approaches to a convergent value. Furthermore, typical quantum phases of rotating two-component BECs with SOC in different external potentials are summarized.

We investigate the dynamics of rotating spin-orbit-coupled spin-1 Bose–Einstein condensates (BECs) in an in-plane gradient magnetic field, which is confined in an anharmonic trap. In the case of rotating spin-orbit-coupled spin-1 BECs with given parameters, the system evolves from initial disk-shaped condensates into drastic turbulent oscillations and ghost vortices on the surface of the component densities due to surface wave excitations and then into two final vortex necklaces along the azimuthal direction with an irregular density hole, in which the vortices differ by one quantum number in turn. For the case of rotating spin-orbit-coupled spin-1 BECs with in-plane gradient magnetic field, with the dynamic evolution, the system undergoes a transition from an initial central polar-core vortex to violent turbulent oscillations and then to a final vortex chain along the diagonal of BECs, with the remaining vortices symmetrically distributed on both sides in the individual component. In addition, the corresponding spin texture undergoes a transition from plane-wave phase to double half-antiskyrmion necklaces for the former case and a transition from a structure similar to a quadrupole magnetic field to a half-antiskyrmion chain with the rest of the half-antiskyrmions on both sides. During the dynamic evolution process, the angular momentum increases gradually and then approaches a convergent value.
Abstract We consider the ground-state properties of Rashba spin–orbit-coupled pseudo-spin-1/2 Bose–Einstein condensates (BECs) in a rotating two-dimensional (2D) toroidal trap. In the absence of spin–orbit coupling (SOC), the increasing rotation frequency enhances the creation of giant vortices for the initially miscible BECs, while it can lead to the formation of semiring density patterns with irregular hidden vortex structures for the initially immiscible BECs. Without rotation, strong 2D isotropic SOC yields a heliciform-stripe phase for the initially immiscible BECs. Combined effects of rotation, SOC, and interatomic interactions on the vortex structures and typical spin textures of the ground state of the system are discussed systematically. In particular, for a fixed rotation frequency above the critical value, the increasing isotropic SOC favors a visible vortex necklace in each component which is accompanied by a hidden giant vortex plus a (several) hidden vortex necklace(s) in the central region. In the case of one-dimensional anisotropic SOC, large SOC strength results in the generation of hidden linear vortex string and the transition from initial component separation (component mixing) to component mixing (component separation). Furthermore, the peculiar spin textures including skyrmion lattice, skyrmion pair and skyrmion string are revealed in this system.
We consider a spin-1 ferromagnetic Bose–Einstein condensate with Rashba spin–orbit coupling (SOC) and dipole–dipole interaction (DDI) in a double-well potential. For the nonrotating case, the ground state of the system is obtained by using the imaginary time propagation method, and a ground-state phase diagram is given with respect to the SOC strength and the DDI strength. It is shown that the nonrotating system sustains rich exotic ground-state phases including the ox-horn phase with hidden vortices and antivortices, density droplet phase with vortex–antivortex pairs, modulated stripe phase with vortex–antivortex chains, checkerboard phase with visible vortex–antivortex chains and hidden vortex–antivortex pairs, and the triangular vortex–antivortex lattice phase. For the rotating case, the dynamics of the system is investigated by using a phenomenological dissipation model. The effects of SOC, DDI and rotation on the unique dynamic behaviors of the rotating system and the final steady-state structures are revealed and analyzed. In particular, the rotating system supports fascinating novel spin textures and skyrmion excitations, and experiences a series of topological structure transitions such as the transitions from an interlaced skyrmion–antiskyrmion lattice pair to a skyrmion–meron lattice pair and then to a meron lattice pair.
We investigate the ground-state phases and spin textures of spin–orbit-coupled dipolar pseudo-spin-1/2 Bose–Einstein condensates in a rotating two-dimensional toroidal potential. The combined effects of dipole–dipole interaction (DDI), spin–orbit coupling (SOC), rotation, and interatomic interactions on the ground-state structures and topological defects of the system are analyzed systematically. For fixed SOC strength and rotation frequency, we provide a set of phase diagrams as a function of the DDI strength and the ratio between inter- and intra-species interactions. The system can show rich quantum phases including a half-quantum vortex, symmetrical (asymmetrical) phase with quantum droplets (QDs), asymmetrical segregated phase with hidden vortices (ASH phase), annular condensates with giant vortices, triangular (square) vortex lattice with QDs, and criss-cross vortex string lattice, depending on the competition between DDI and contact interaction. For given DDI strength and rotation frequency, the increase of the SOC strength leads to a structural phase transition from an ASH phase to a tetragonal vortex lattice then to a pentagonal vortex lattice and finally to a vortex necklace, which is also demonstrated by the momentum distributions. Without rotation, the interplay of DDI and SOC may result in the formation of a unique trumpet-shaped Bloch domain wall. In addition, the rotation effect is discussed. Furthermore, the system supports exotic topological excitations, such as a half-skyrmion (meron) string, triangular skyrmion lattice, skyrmion–half-skyrmion lattice, skyrmion–meron cluster, skyrmion–meron layered necklace, skyrmion–giant-skyrmion necklace lattice, and half-skyrmion–half-antiskyrmion necklace.
Abstract We consider the topological defects and spin structures of spin-1 Bose–Einstein condensates with spin–orbit coupling (SOC) and dipole–dipole interaction (DDI) in a rotating harmonic plus quartic trap. The combined effects of SOC, DDI and rotation on the ground-state phases of the system are analyzed. Our results show that for fixed rotation frequency structural phase transitions can be achieved by adjusting the magnitudes of the SOC and DDI. A ground-state phase diagram is given as a function of the SOC and DDI strengths. It is shown that the system exhibits rich quantum phases including vortex string phase with isolated density peaks (DPs), triangular (square) vortex lattice phase with DPs, checkerboard phase, and stripe phase with hidden vortices and antivortices. For given SOC and DDI strengths, the system can display pentagonal vortex lattice with DPs, vortex necklace with DPs, and exotic topological structure composed of multi-layer visible vortex necklaces, a hidden giant vortex and hidden vortex necklaces, depending on the rotation frequency. In addition, the system sustains fascinating novel spin textures and skyrmion excitations, such as an antiskyrmion pair, antiskyrmion-half-antiskyrmion (antiskyrmion–antimeron) cluster, skyrmion–antiskyrmion lattice, skyrmion–antiskyrmion cluster, skyrmion–antiskyrmion–meron–antimeron lattice, double-layer half-antiskyrmion necklaces, and composite giant-antiskyrmion–antimeron necklaces.
We investigate the ground-state phases and spin textures of rotating binary dipolar Bose–Einstein condensates with Lee-Huang-Yang (LHY) correction and Raman-induced spin–orbit coupling (SOC) in a harmonic trap. Without rotation and SOC, the enhanced LHY correction can lead to structural phase transitions of the system. In the presence of SOC, a phase diagram as a function of the Raman coupling and LHY correction strengths is given. It is shown that the system exhibits rich and exotic quantum phases including quantum droplet (QD) phase with hidden vortex-antivortex pairs, droplet-stripe coexistence phase with hidden vortex-antivortex cluster, QD phase with visible triangular vortex lattice, annular stripe phase containing Anderson-Toulouse coreless vortex, and annular phase with vortex-antivortex pair necklace. In particular, for the rotation case, with the variation of Raman coupling strength the system displays complicated ground-state structures, such as layered structure of droplet necklaces and annular stripe with hidden layered vortex necklace and antivortex necklace, toroidal stripe phase with hidden antivortex necklace, and composite phase of visible square antivortex lattice and annular stripe. Furthermore, the system sustains fascinating novel spin textures and skyrmion excitations, including triangular half-antiskyrmion lattice, alternating meron-antimeron necklace, double-layer half-skyrmion necklace, and triangular half-skyrmion lattice.
