Abstract

Quantum magnonics is an emerging research field, with great potential for applications in magnon based hybrid systems and quantum information processing. Quantum correlation, such as entanglement, is a central resource in many quantum information protocols that naturally comes about in any study toward quantum technologies. This applies also to quantum magnonics. Here, we investigate antiferromagnetic coupling of two ferromagnetic sublattices that can have two different magnon modes. We show how this may lead to experimentally measurable bipartite continuous-variable magnon-magnon entanglement. The entanglement can be fully characterized via a single squeezing parameter or, equivalently, entanglement parameter. The clear relation between the entanglement parameter and the Einstein, Podolsky, and Rosen (EPR) function of the ground state opens up for experimental quantification magnon-magnon continuous-variable entanglement and EPR nonlocality. We propose a practical experimental realization to measure the EPR function of the ground state, in a setting that relies on magnon-photon interaction in a microwave cavity.

Stationary quantum entanglement and steering between two distant macromagnets

Ji-kun Xie, H. Y. Yuan, Sheng-li Ma +3 more

Abstract Generating and manipulating magnon quantum states for quantum information processing is a central topic in quantum magnonics. The conventional strategy amplifies the nonlinear interaction among magnons to manifest their quantum correlations at cryogenic temperatures, which is challenging for magnets with vanishingly small nonlinearities. Here we propose an unconventional approach to prepare entangled states of two distant magnon modes by applying a two-tone Floquet field to each magnet inside a microwave cavity. The Floquet driving can effectively generate parametric interaction between magnons and photons, and thus opens an indirect entanglement channel between the two magnon modes mediated by cavity photons. By optimizing the relative ratio of the magnon–photon coupling and the detuning between the magnon modes, the two magnon modes can reach a stationary and robust entanglement, of which the strength is enhanced compared with entanglement generated via magnetic nonlinearities. Furthermore, one-way steering between the two magnets is realized by engineering unequal damping rates of the two magnets while the steering asymmetry can be efficiently modulated by tuning the coupling strength of magnons and cavity photons. The essential physics of our findings universally applies to a wide class of magnets with small nonlinearities and may find promising applications in engineering robust magnon quantum states for quantum information science.

Nonreciprocal Transmission and Entanglement in a cavity-magnomechanical system

Zhi‐Bo Yang, Liu, Jin-Song, Ai‐Dong Zhu +2 more

Quantum entanglement, a key element for quantum information is generated with a cavity-magnomechanical system. It comprises of two microwave cavities, a magnon mode and a vibrational mode, and the last two elements come from a YIG sphere trapped in the second cavity. The two microwave cavities are connected by a superconducting transmission line, resulting in a linear coupling between them. The magnon mode is driven by a strong microwave field and coupled to cavity photons via magnetic dipole interaction, and at the same time interacts with phonons via magnetostrictive interaction. By breaking symmetry of the configuration, we realize nonreciprocal photon transmission and one-way bipartite quantum entanglement. By using current experimental parameters for numerical simulation, it is hoped that our results may reveal a new strategy to built quantum resources for the realization of noise-tolerant quantum processors, chiral networks, and so on.

Distant entanglement via photon hopping in a coupled cavity magnomechanical system

Amjad Sohail, Jia‐Xin Peng, Abdelkader Hidki +2 more

We theoretically propose a scheme to generate distant bipartite entanglement between various subsystems in coupled magnomechanical systems where both the microwave cavities are coupled through single photon hopping coupling strength Γ. Each cavity contains a magnon mode and phonon mode and this gives six excitation modes in our model Hamiltonian which are cavity-1 photons, cavity-2 photons, magnon and phonon in cavity-1, and magnon and phonon in cavity-2. We found that significant bipartite entanglement exists between indirectly coupled subsystems in coupled microwave cavities for an appropriate set of parameters regime. Moreover, we also obtain suitable cavity and magnon detuning parameters for a significant distant bipartite entanglement in different bipartitions. In addition, it can be seen that a single photon hopping parameter significantly affects both the degree as well as the transfer of quantum entanglement between various bipartitions. Hence, our present study related to coupled microwave cavity magnomechanical configuration will open new perspectives in coherent control of various quantum correlations including quantum state transfer among macroscopic quantum systems.

Enhanced magnon-magnon entanglement in the vicinity of an angular momentum compensation point of a ferrimagnet in a cavity

Jaechul Shim, Kyung‐Jin Lee

Highly entangled states are the key to the realization of quantum information processing. We theoretically investigate magnon-magnon entanglement in a compensated ferrimagnet. We show that the steady-state magnon-magnon entanglement largely enhances in the vicinity of angular momentum compensation point $({T}_{A})$ when magnons are coupled with photons in a cavity. The origin of this enhancement is that the ground state of ferrimagnet can be close to the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen state near ${T}_{A}$. This feature is unique to ferrimagnets with different Land\'e g factors between sublattices and makes the magnon entanglement of ferrimagnets higher than that of ferromagnets and antiferromagnets. Our result will invigorate research on quantum information processing based on magnon-magnon entanglement.

Quantum entanglement between two antiferromagnets in the microcavities

Xiao-Xiao Yang, Tie-Jun Wang, Chuan Xi Wang

Abstract Magnons are being currently developed as qubits for quantum storage and information processing. Here, in this work, we focus on a hybrid quantum system containing two antiferromagnets, and entanglement between magnons in the antiferromagnets can be generated through strong coupling mediated by the same microwave mode. Moreover, we numerically simulate the process with feasible parameters. The influence of the system parameters, such as the magnon-photon coupling rate, detuning, bias magnetic field and dissipation of entanglement, are discussed. By adjusting some of the experimental parameters, we show that two antiferromagnets can produce a large entanglement, which is a result that has not been previously found in other quantum systems. Our findings may provide a potential platform for the completion of related quantum tasks in the future.
