Abstract

The [Formula: see text]-qubit Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states are the maximally entangled states of [Formula: see text] qubits, which have had many important applications in quantum information processing, such as quantum key distribution and quantum secret sharing. Thus how to distinguish the GHZ states from other quantum states becomes a significant problem. In this work, by presenting a family of the generalized Clauser–Horne–Shimony–Holt (CHSH) inequality, we show that the [Formula: see text]-qubit GHZ states can be indeed identified by the maximal violations of the generalized CHSH inequality under some specific measurement settings. The generalized CHSH inequality is simple and contains only four correlation functions for any [Formula: see text]-qubit system, thus has the merit of facilitating experimental verification. Furthermore, we present a quantum phenomenon of robust violations of the generalized CHSH inequality in which the maximal violation of Bell’s inequality can be robust under some specific noises adding to the [Formula: see text]-qubit GHZ states.

Robust violation of a multipartite Bell inequality from the perspective of a single-system game

Gang-Gang He, Xing-Yan Fan, Fulin Zhang

Recently, Fan et al. [Mod. Phys. Lett. A 36, 2150223 (2021)] presented a generalized Clauser–Horne–Shimony–Holt (CHSH) inequality, to identify [Formula: see text]-qubit Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states. They showed an interesting phenomenon that the maximal violation of the generalized CHSH inequality is robust under some specific noises. In this work, we map the inequality to the CHSH game, and consequently to the CHSH* game in a single-qubit system. This mapping provides an explanation for the robust violations in [Formula: see text]-qubit systems. Namely, the robust violations, resulting from the degeneracy of the generalized CHSH operators correspond to the symmetry of the maximally entangled two-qubit states and the identity transformation in the single-qubit game. This explanation enables us to exactly demonstrate that the degeneracy is [Formula: see text].

The sequential non-locality sharing by four-partite GHZ state in a new Bell scenario

Xin-Yue Dang, Lin Zhang, Huihui Qin

Abstract Since it was revealed that there are certain bipartite entangled states whose violations of Clauser–Horne–Shimony–Holt Bell inequality can be observed by a single Alice and arbitrarily many sequential Bobs (Brown et al 2020 Phys. Rev. Lett. 125 090401), there are a series of analogs not only for bipartite systems but also for multipartite systems. For four-partite Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states, we construct a set of specific observables such that the quantum value of the Bell operator introduced in Zukowski and Brukner (2002 Phys. Rev. Lett. 88 210401) can be obtained analytically. Then, it is revealed that four-partite GHZ states can share numerous sequential non-localities by violating the corresponding Bell inequality.

Certifying optimal device-independent quantum randomness in quantum networks

Shuai Zhao, Rong Wang, Qi Zhao

Bell nonlocality provides a device-independent (DI) way to certify quantum randomness, based on which true random numbers can be extracted from the observed correlations without detail characterizations on devices for quantum state preparation and measurement. However, the efficiency of current strategies for DI randomness certification is still heavily constrained when it comes to non-maximal Bell values, especially for multiple parties. Here, we present a family of multipartite Bell inequalities that allows to certify optimal quantum randomness and self-test GHZ (Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger) states, which are inspired from the stabilizer group of the GHZ state. Due to the simple representation of stabilizer group for GHZ states, this family of Bell inequalities is of simple structure and can be easily expanded to more parties. Compared with the Mermin-type inequalities, this family of Bell inequality is more efficient in certifying quantum randomness when non-maximal Bell values achieved. Meanwhile, the general analytical upper bound for the Holevo quantity is presented, and achieves better performance compared with the MABK (Mermin-Ardehali-Belinskii-Klyshko) inequality, Parity-CHSH (Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt) inequality and Holz inequality at $N=3$, which is of particular interests for experimental researches on DI quantum cryptography in quantum networks.

Generalization of the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality self-testing maximally entangled states of any local dimension

Andrea Coladangelo

The Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality (CHSH) is one of the most popular and well-studied witnesses of Bell's theorem, separating classical from quantum correlations. In this work, for every $d\ensuremath{\ge}2$, we present a generalization of the CHSH inequality with the property that maximal violation is achieved uniquely by the maximally entangled state of local dimension $d$. This provides an avenue for device-independent certification of maximally entangled states of arbitrary local dimension.

Bell inequalities tailored to the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states of arbitrary local dimension

Remigiusz Augusiak, Alexia Salavrakos, Tura i Brugués, J. +1 more

Abstract In device-independent quantum information processing Bell inequalities are not only used as detectors of nonlocality, but also as certificates of relevant quantum properties. In order for these certificates to work, one very often needs Bell inequalities that are maximally violated by specific quantum states. Recently, in Salavrakos et al (2017 Phys. Rev. Lett. 119 040402) a general class of Bell inequalities, with arbitrary numbers of measurements and outcomes, has been designed, which are maximally violated by the maximally entangled states of two quantum systems of arbitrary dimension. In this work, we generalize these results to the multipartite scenario and obtain a general class of Bell inequalities maximally violated by the Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger states of any number of parties and any local dimension. We then derive analytically their maximal quantum and nonsignaling values. We also obtain analytically the bound for detecting genuine nonlocality and compute the fully local bound for a few exemplary cases. Moreover, we consider the question of adapting this class of inequalities to partially entangled Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger-like states for some special cases of low dimension and small number of parties. Through numerical methods, we find classes of inequalities maximally violated by these partially entangled states.
