Abstract

Abstract Quantum entanglement is important quanum resources in quantum information sicence. Here we propose an approach to preparing atomic quantum entanglement in a hybrid atom-cavity-fiber system. Using quantum Zeno dynamics method, the system evolution states are always split into a series of Zeno invariant subspaces consisting of dark and bright states. By choosing the initial state of the system, the bright states are all neglected and only dark states are kept to build the effective Hamiltonian. By tuning the system parameters, two-atom multiple-dimensional entanglement, two-atom Bell state, and three-atom GHZ state can be realized by one step. Our proposal provides a way to perform quantum information processing with dark states.

Noise-induced distributed entanglement in atom-cavity-fiber system

Dongxiao Li, Xiao-Qiang Shao, Jin-Hui Wu +1 more

The distributed quantum computation plays an important role in large-scale quantum information processing. In the atom-cavity-fiber system, we put forward two efficient proposals to prepare the steady entanglement of two distant atoms with dissipation. The atomic spontaneous emission and the loss of fiber are exploited actively as powerful resources, while the effect of cavity decay is inhibited by quantum Zeno dynamics and quantum-jump-based feedback control. These proposals do not require precisely tailored Rabi frequencies or coupling strength between cavity and fiber. Furthermore, we discuss the feasibility of extending the present schemes into the systems consisting of two atoms at the opposite ends of the $n$ cavities connected by $(n-1)$ fibers, and the corresponding numerical simulation reveals that a high fidelity remains achievable with current experimental parameters.

Achieving three-dimensional entanglement between two spatially separated atoms by using the quantum Zeno effect

Siping Liu, Jiahua Li, Rong Yu +1 more

Based on the quantum Zeno effect [B. Misra and E. C. G. Sudarshan, J. Math. Phys. 18, 756 (1977)], we propose a scheme to achieve three-dimensional (3D) entanglement between two distant five-level atoms. In our scheme, the two atoms are trapped individually in two spatially-separated double-mode cavities connected by an optical fiber. It is found that the effective quantum Zeno dynamics of the composite cavity-fiber-cavity coupled system gives rise to the deterministic creation of the 3D entangled state with high fidelity. Moreover, only one step operation is required to complete the generation of the 3D entangled state. The numerical simulations clearly show that the proposed scheme is robust against the deviation of the system parameters and insensitive to various decoherence factors, including atomic spontaneous emissions, cavity decays and fiber photon leakages. We justify our scheme by considering the experimental feasibility within the currently available technology.

Controllable entanglement preparations between atoms in spatially-separated cavities via quantum Zeno dynamics

Wen-An Li, Lian-Fu Wei

By using quantum Zeno dynamics, we propose a controllable approach to deterministically generate tripartite GHZ states for three atoms trapped in spatially separated cavities. The nearest-neighbored cavities are connected via optical fibers and the atoms trapped in two ends are tunably driven. The generation of the GHZ state can be implemented by only one step manipulation, and the EPR entanglement between the atoms in two ends can be further realized deterministically by Von Neumann measurement on the middle atom. Note that the duration of the quantum Zeno dynamics is controllable by switching on/off the applied external classical drivings and the desirable tripartite GHZ state will no longer evolve once it is generated. The robustness of the proposal is numerically demonstrated by considering various decoherence factors, including atomic spontaneous emissions, cavity decays and fiber photon leakages, etc. Our proposal can be directly generalized to generate multipartite entanglement by still driving the atoms in two ends.

Deterministic generation of a three-dimensional entangled state via quantum Zeno dynamics

Wenan Li, Guang-Yao Huang

A scheme is proposed for the generation of a three-dimensional entangled state for two atoms trapped in a cavity via quantum Zeno dynamics. Because the scheme is based on the resonant interaction, the time required to produce entanglement is very short compared with the dispersive protocols. We show that the resulting effective dynamics allows for the creation of robust qutrit-qutrit entanglement. The influence of various decoherence processes such as spontaneous emission and photon loss on the fidelity of the entangled state is investigated. Numerical results show that the scheme is robust against the cavity decay since the evolution of the system is restricted to a subspace with null-excitation cavity fields. Furthermore, the present scheme has been generalized to realize $N$-dimensional entanglement for two atoms.

Fast preparation of a three-dimensional entangled state via transitionless quantum driving

Zhaotan Zhang, J. Wang, J. P. Wang +3 more

A scheme for preparing a three-dimensional entangled state of two atoms is proposed. In the present scheme, two atoms are placed in two cavities that are spatially separated and connected by a fiber. With the help of quantum Zeno dynamics, the shortcuts to adiabaticity can be constructed through transitionless quantum driving to fast achieve the preparation of a three-dimensional entangled state. During this process, we consider the influence of fluctuations about system parameters and various decoherence factors on the fidelity. Numerical simulation results demonstrate that this scheme can not only realize the preparation of a three-dimensional entangled state with a high fidelity, but is also insensitive to parameter fluctuations. Moreover, our scheme can be extended to realize the N-dimensional entanglement of two atoms.

We propose a scheme for generating a four-dimensional entanglement between two atoms trapped in two separate cavities connected by an optical fiber. Based on quantum Zeno dynamics, the entangled state is obtained only in one step. We also numerically investigate the influence of photon leakage and atomic spontaneous emission on the fidelity of the entangled state. The result shows that our scheme is robust against the cavity decay and very promising for realization with current experimental technology.
