Abstract

We study the holographic information quantities, including the holographic entanglement entropy (HEE), the holographic mutual information (HMI) and the minimum cross section of the entanglement wedge (EWCS), over a special black brane geometry, which has a vanishing ground-state entropy. Thanks to the zero entropy density at the ground state, we expect to extract novel, even singular informational properties in the zero-temperature limit. Surprisingly, we do not observe any singular behavior of entanglement-related physical quantities in the zero-temperature limit. Nevertheless, we find a peculiar property from this model that in the low-temperature region, the HEE decreases with the temperature, which is contrary to that in most holographic models. We argue that this novel phenomenon is brought by the singular property of the zero-temperature limit. In addition, we also compare the features of the information quantities in this special black brane geometry with those in Reissner-Nordstrom anti--de Sitter (RN-AdS) black brane geometry. It is shown that the HEE and HMI of this vanishing ground-state entropy model are always larger than those of RN-AdS geometry, while the EWCS behaves oppositely. Our results indicate that the HMI and EWCS could have different abilities in describing mixed state entanglement.

Entanglement wedge minimum cross-section in holographic massive gravity theory

Peng Liu, Chao Niu, Zi-Jian Shi +1 more

Abstract We study the entanglement wedge cross-section (EWCS) in holographic massive gravity theory, in which a first and second-order phase transition can occur. We find that the mixed state entanglement measures, the EWCS and mutual information (MI) can characterize the phase transitions. The EWCS and MI show exactly the opposite behavior in the critical region, which suggests that the EWCS captures distinct degrees of freedom from that of the MI. More importantly, EWCS, MI and HEE all show the same scaling behavior in the critical region. We give an analytical understanding of this phenomenon. By comparing the quantum information behavior in the thermodynamic phase transition of holographic superconductors, we analyze the relationship and difference between them and provide two mechanisms of quantum information scaling behavior in the thermodynamic phase transition.

Non-conformal behavior of holographic entanglement measures

M. Ali-Akbari, M. Asadi, B. Amrahi

Abstract We evaluate the holographic entanglement entropy, HEE, holographic mutual information, HMI, and holographic entanglement of purification, EoP, in a non-conformal model at zero and finite temperature. In order to find the analytical results we consider some specific regimes of the parameter space. We find that the non-conformal effects decrease the redefined HEE and increase the redefined HMI and EoP in the all studied regimes. On the other side, the temperature effects increase (decrease) the redefined HEE (HMI) in the all studied regimes while it has no definite effect on the redefined EoP. Finally, from the information point of view, we find that in the vicinity of the phase transition the zero temperature state is more favorable than the finite temperature one.

Some Aspects of Holographic Entanglement of Purification

Komeil Babaei Velni, M. Reza Mohammadi Mozaffar, Mohammad Hassan Vahidinia

We consider the minimal area of the entanglement wedge cross section (EWCS) in Einstein gravity. In the context of holography, it is proposed that this quantity is dual to different information measures, e.g., entanglement of purification, logarithmic negativity and reflected entropy. Motivated by these proposals, we examine in detail the low and high temperature corrections to this quantity and show that it obeys the area law even in the finite temperature. We also study EWCS in nonrelativistic field theories with nontrivial Lifshitz and hyperscaling violating exponents. The resultant EWCS is an increasing function of the dynamical exponent due to the enhancement of spatial correlations between subregions for larger values of $z$. We find that EWCS is monotonically decreasing as the hyperscaling violating exponent increases. We also obtain this quantity for an entangling region with singular boundary in a three dimensional field theory and find a universal contribution where the coefficient depends on the central charge. Finally, we verify that for higher dimensional singular regions the corresponding EWCS obeys the area law.

Entanglement measures for nonconformal D-branes

Arindam Lala

We study various entanglement measures associated with certain nonconformal field theories. We consider nonconformal $\mathrm{D}p$-brane backgrounds, which are dual to these field theories, for our holographic analysis. Restricting our interests in $p=1$, 2, 4, we explicitly compute properties of holographic entanglement entropy and the entanglement wedge cross section, ${\mathrm{E}}_{W}$, corresponding to two parallel strip shaped boundary subregions in these setups. We study low and high temperature behaviors of these quantities analytically as well as by using numerical methods. In all cases, the ${\mathrm{E}}_{W}$ decreases monotonically with temperature. We observe discontinuous jumps in ${\mathrm{E}}_{W}$, while the width of (as well as the separation between) the subregions reaches critical values in all the cases considered. However, the corresponding holographic mutual information ${\mathtt{I}}_{M}$ continuously decreases to zero for the aforementioned configurations. We also notice that the conjectured inequality ${\mathrm{E}}_{W}\ensuremath{\ge}{\mathtt{I}}_{M}/2$ still holds for nonconformal field theories as well. We analytically determine the critical separation between these subregions that triggers a phase transition in the holographic mutual information.

Diagnosing Critical Behavior in AdS Einstein-Maxwell-Scalar Theory via Holographic Entanglement Measures

Zhe Yang, Guangzai Ye, Jian-Pin Wu +1 more

We investigate the holographic mixed-state entanglement measures in the Einstein-Maxwell-Scalar (EMS) theory. Several quantities are computed, including the holographic entanglement entropy (HEE), mutual information (MI), entanglement wedge cross-section (EWCS), and butterfly velocity ($v_B$). Our findings demonstrate that these measures can effectively diagnose phase transitions. Notably, EWCS and MI, as mixed-state entanglement measures, exhibit behavior opposite to that of the HEE. Additionally, we study the butterfly velocity, a dynamic quantum information measure, and observe that it behaves differently from the static quantum information measures. We analyze the butterfly velocity and find that its non-monotonic behavior arises from the competition between two contributions in its expression, which the analytic structure suggests may be correlated with distinct physical interpretations. Moreover, we examine the scaling behavior of the holographic entanglement measures and find that all the critical exponents are equal to $1$, which is twice that of the scalar field. We also explore the inequality between EWCS and MI, noting that the growth rate of MI consistently exceeds that of EWCS during phase transitions. These features are expected to be universal across thermodynamic phase transitions, with the inequalities becoming more significant as one moves away from the critical point.

Aspects of Hyperscaling Violating geometries at finite cutoff

Salomeh Khoeini-Moghaddam, Farzad Omidi, Chandrima Paul

Abstract Recently, it was proposed that a $$ T\overline{T} $$ T T ¯ deformed CFT is dual to a gravity theory in an asymptotically AdS spacetime at finite radial cutoff. Motivated by this proposal, we explore some aspects of Hyperscaling Violating geometries at finite cutoff and zero temperature. We study holographic entanglement entropy, mutual information (HMI) and entanglement wedge cross section (EWCS) for entangling regions in the shape of strips. It is observed that the HMI shows interesting features in comparison to the very small cutoff case: it is a decreasing function of the cutoff. It is finite when the distance between the two entangling regions goes to zero. The location of its phase transition also depends on the cutoff, and decreases by increasing the cutoff. On the other hand, the EWCS is a decreasing function of the cutoff. It does not show a discontinuous phase transition when the HMI undergoes a first-order phase transition. However, its concavity changes. Moreover, it is finite when the distance between the two strips goes to zero. Furthermore, it satisfies the bound EW ≥ $$ \frac{I}{2} $$ I 2 for all values of the cutoff.
