We calculate the critical exponents of the threshold singularity for the spectral density of the XXZ-spin chain at zero magnetic field for the lower threshold. We show that the corresponding phase shifts are momentum independent and coincide with predictions of the effective mobile impurity Hamiltonian approach.
Transition rates and dynamic spin structure factor at zero temperature for the spin-1/2 XXZ chain at critical regime in a magnetic field are numerically evaluated in terms of the exact determinant representations for the form factors and norms of the Bethe eigenstates. We have seen that the transition rates converges toward the constant function with the value 1 in the limit delta -> 0. The observed critical exponent of the singularity at the lower boundary is compared with the one predicted from the comformal field theory. We confirm that they are in good agreement. Further we have discovered that a small peak emerges near the upper boundary in the line shape of S(q,omega) for 0
Exact formulas for the singularities of the dynamical structure factor, Szz(q,omega), of the S=1/2 xxz spin chain at all q and any anisotropy and magnetic field in the critical regime are derived, expressing the exponents in terms of the phase shifts which are known exactly from the Bethe ansatz solution. We also study the long-time asymptotics of the self-correlation function 0|Sjz(t)Sjz(0)|0. Utilizing these results to supplement very accurate time-dependent density matrix renormalization group, for short to moderate times, we calculate Szz(q,omega) to very high precision.
The authors are concerned with the critical properties of the anisotropic Heisenberg chain, or XXZ model, with arbitrary integer or half-integer spin. The eigenspectra of these Hamiltonians, with periodic boundaries, are calculated for finite chains by solving numerically their associated Bethe ansatz equations. The resulting spectra are found to be in accord with the predictions of conformal invariance and the operator content is identified, for lattices with an even and odd number of sites. The results for spin 1 and spin 3/2 indicate that the conformal anomaly c for these models, in the gapless regime, has the value c=3S/(1+S), independent of the anisotropy, and the exponents vary continuously with the anisotropy as in the eight-vertex model. The operator content of these models indicate that the underlying field theory governing these critical spin-S models is described by composite fields formed by the product of Gaussian and Z(N) fields, with N=2S. Finally some of the irrelevant operators which produce the leading finite-size corrections of the eigenenergies are identified.
A quantum phase transition may occur in a system at zero temperature when a controlling parameter is tuned towards a critical point. An important question is whether such a critical point exists in a particular system and how stable it is. Here, we identify the critical point of a quantum phase transition as a singular point in the affine algebraic variety of the characteristic equation for the Hamiltonian describing the system, with an unstable critical point being associated with an isolated singular point which has a finite Tjurina number. The theory is illustrated by studying a model system of zero-dimensional (finite) Heisenberg spin chain with an impurity, which exhibits a nontrivial first-order quantum phase transition. Both analytical and numerical calculations show that the quantum phase transition always exists when the impurity has a Z2 symmetry but only remains in systems with an even number of spin sites when the Z2 symmetry is broken.
