Abstract

We propose to use the steered quantum coherence (SQC) as a signature of quantum phase transitions (QPTs). By considering various spin chain models, including the transverse-field Ising model, $\mathit{XY}$ model, and $\mathit{XX}$ model with three-spin interaction, we showed that the SQC and its first-order derivative succeed in signaling different critical points of QPTs. In particular, the SQC method is effective for any spin pair chosen from the chain, and the strength of SQC, in contrast to entanglement and quantum discord, is insensitive to the distance (provided it is not very short) of the tested spins, which makes it convenient for practical use as there is no need for careful choice of two spins in the chain.

Steered Quantum Coherence as a Signature of Topological Quantum Phase Transitions in the Extended XY Model

Abstract In recent years, there has been a surge of interest in exploring coherence measures and correlation measures to characterize topological quantum phase transitions (TQPTs). Here, motivated by the continued push in this direction, the steered quantum coherence (SQC) in the extended XY model is studied to analyze its capability in characterizing TQPTs. It is shown that the first derivative of SQC succeeds in signaling different critical points of TQPTs. In particular, it is found that the SQC is a long‐range correlation and the first derivative of SQC can always accurately identify TQPTs for different site distance.

Steered Quantum Coherence and Quantum Criticality in the XY Model with Dzyaloshinsky–Moriya Interaction

Yu-Xia Xie

The critical behaviors of the steered quantum coherence (SQC) in the transverse field XY model with Dzyaloshinsky–Moriya (DM) interaction are explored. It is found that there is an inflexion for the SQC at the critical field of quantum phase transition (QPT) for two long‐distance spins, and there is a divergence for the derivative of the SQC with respect to the magnetic field at the critical field of QPT for any two spins in the chain. Moreover, SQC shows distinct behaviors in different phase regions of the model, which is also a signature of the QPT. Furthermore, the SQC method is robust in studying quantum criticality even under environmental coupling.

Quantum coherence and quantum phase transitions

Yanchao Li, Hai‐Qing Lin

We study the connections between local quantum coherence (LQC) based on Wigner-Yanase skew information and quantum phase transitions (QPTs). When applied on the one-dimensional Hubbard, XY spin chain with three-spin interaction, and Su-Schrieffer-Heeger models, the LQC and its derivatives are used successfully to detect different types of QPTs in these spin and fermionic systems. Furthermore, the LQC is effective as the quantum discord (QD) in detecting QPTs at finite temperatures, where the entanglement has lost its effectiveness. We also demonstrate that the LQC can exhibit different behaviors in many forms compared with the QD.

Quantum Correlations in Infinite XY Spin-1/2 Chains and Quantum Phase Transition

Xiaodong Tan, Shou-Sheng Huang, Bai-Qi Jin

We examine the ability of quantum discord (QD) and entanglements (concurrence, EoF and negativity) to detect the critical points associated to quantum phase transitions (QPTs) for XY models, i.e., the isotropic XY model with three-spin interactions at zero temperature, and the anisotropic XY model in a transverse magnetic field h at finite temperatures. For the case of zero temperature, we found that both entanglements and QD can spotlight the critical points of QPTs for these two models. Moreover, QD versus distance M exhibits the long-range behavior of quantum correlation for the anisotropic XY model, while entanglement is short-ranged. For the case of finite temperatures, we found that negativity has the same behaviors with concurrence at or near transition points. Moreover, QD for the anisotropic XY model can increase with temperature even in the absence of a magnetic field.

Quantum Renormalization of Spin Squeezing in Spin Chains

Leila Balazadeh, G. Najarbashi, Ali Tavana

By employing quantum renormalization group (QRG) method, we investigate quantum phase transitions (QPT) in the Ising transverse field (ITF) model and in the XXZ Heisenberg model, with and without Dzyaloshinskii Moriya (DM) interaction, on a periodic chain of N lattice sites. We adopt a new approach called spin squeezing as an indicator of QPT. Spin squeezing, through analytical expression of a spin squeezing parameter, is calculated after each step of QRG. As the scale of the system becomes larger, (after many QRG steps), the ground state (GS) spin squeezing parameters show an abrupt change at a quantum critical point (QCP). Moreover, in all of the studied models, the first derivative of the spin squeezing parameter with respect to the control parameter is discontinuous, which is a signature of QPT. The spin squeezing parameters develop their saturated values after enough QRG iterations. The divergence exponent of the first derivative of the spin squeezing parameter in the near vicinity of the QCP is associated with the critical exponent of the correlation length.

Thermal quantum and classical correlations and entanglement in the XY spin model with three-spin interaction

Yanchao Li, Hai‐Qing Lin

Pairwise quantum discord (QD) and classical correlation (CC) are studied in the $\mathit{XY}$ spin chain with three-spin interaction. We analyze their capability in detecting quantum phase transitions (QPTs) at both zero and finite temperatures and find that the pairwise QD of two neighboring spins is more reliable than that of any other distances in identifying QPTs. Both the QD and CC detect quantum critical points associated with first- and higher-order QPTs caused by field and three-spin interactions at finite temperatures. In addition, we find a different finite-size scaling behavior for QD from previous reports for the transverse field Ising case and show some interesting phenomena of QD and entanglement of formation for finite temperatures.
