Current statistics in the q -boson zero range process

Abstract

Abstract We obtain exact formulas of the first two cumulants of particle current in the q -boson zero range process on a ring via exact perturbative solution of the TQ-equation. The result is represented as an infinite sum of double contour integrals. We perform the asymptotic analysis of the large system size limit N → ∞ of the expressions obtained. For | q | ≠ 1 the leading terms of the second cumulant reproduce the N 3/2 scaling expected for models in the Kardar–Parisi–Zhang universality class. The scaling q ≍ exp ( − α / N ) → 1 corresponds to the crossover between the Kardar–Parisi–Zhang and Edwards–Wilkinson universality classes. Under this scaling the sum converges to an integral, resulting in the crossover scaling function derived previously for the asymmetric simple exclusion process and conjectured to be universal.

Crossover scaling functions in the asymmetric avalanche process

Anastasia Trofimova, Alexander M. Povolotsky

Abstract We consider the particle current in the asymmetric avalanche process on a ring. It is known to exhibit a transition from the intermittent to continuous flow at the critical density of particles. The exact expressions for the first two scaled cumulants of the particle current are obtained in the large time limit t → ∞ via the Bethe ansatz and a perturbative solution of the TQ -equation. The results are presented in an integral form suitable for the asymptotic analysis in the large system size limit N → ∞. In this limit the first cumulant, the average current per site or the average velocity of the associated interface, is asymptotically finite below the critical density and grows linearly and exponentially times power law prefactor at the critical density and above, respectively. The scaled second cumulant per site, i.e. the diffusion coefficient or the scaled variance of the associated interface height, shows the O ( N −1/2 ) decay expected for models in the Kardar–Parisi–Zhang universality class below the critical density, while it is growing as O ( N 3/2 ) and exponentially times power law prefactor at the critical point and above. Also, we identify the crossover regime and obtain the scaling functions for the uniform asymptotics unifying the three regimes. These functions are compared to the scaling functions describing crossover of the cumulants of the avalanche size, obtained as statistics of the first return area under the time space trajectory of the Vasicek random process.

Bethe ansatz solution of zero-range process with nonuniform stationary state

Alexander M. Povolotsky

The eigenfunctions and eigenvalues of the master equation for zero-range process with totally asymmetric dynamics on a ring are found exactly using the Bethe ansatz weighted with the stationary weights of particle configurations. The Bethe ansatz applicability requires the rates of hopping of particles out of a site to be the q numbers [n](q). This is a generalization of the rates of hopping of noninteracting particles equal to the occupation number n of a site of departure. The noninteracting case can be restored in the limit q-->1. The limiting cases of the model for q=0, infinity correspond to the totally asymmetric exclusion process, and the drop-push model, respectively. We analyze the partition function of the model and apply the Bethe ansatz to evaluate the generating function of the total distance traveled by particles at large time in the scaling limit. In case of nonzero interaction, q not equal 1, the generating function has the universal scaling form specific for the Kardar-Parizi-Zhang universality class.

Spectrum in multi-species asymmetric simple exclusion process on a ring

Chikashi Arita, Atsuo Kuniba, Kazumitsu Sakai +1 more

The spectrum of Hamiltonian (Markov matrix) of a multi-species asymmetric simple exclusion process on a ring is studied. The dynamical exponent concerning the relaxation time is found to coincide with the one-species case. It implies that the system belongs to the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang or Edwards-Wilkinson universality classes depending on whether the hopping rate is asymmetric or symmetric, respectively. Our derivation exploits a poset structure of the particle sectors, leading to a new spectral duality and inclusion relations. The Bethe ansatz integrability is also demonstrated.

Bethe Ansatz Solution of the Asymmetric Exclusion Process with Open Boundaries

Jan de Gier, Fabian H. L. Eßler

We derive the Bethe ansatz equations describing the complete spectrum of the transition matrix of the partially asymmetric exclusion process with the most general open boundary conditions. For totally asymmetric diffusion we calculate the spectral gap, which characterizes the approach to stationarity at large times. We observe boundary induced crossovers in and between massive, diffusive, and Kardar-Parisi-Zhang scaling regimes.

Efficient Computation of Cumulant Evolution and Full Counting Statistics: Application to Infinite Temperature Quantum Spin Chains

Angelo Valli, Cătălin Paşcu Moca, Miklós Antal Werner +4 more

We propose a numerical method to efficiently compute quantum generating functions for a wide class of observables in one-dimensional quantum systems at high temperature. We obtain high-accuracy estimates for the cumulants and reconstruct full counting statistics from the quantum generating functions. We demonstrate its potential on spin S=1/2 anisotropic Heisenberg chain, where we can reach timescales hitherto inaccessible to state-of-the-art classical and quantum simulations. Our results challenge the conjecture of the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang universality for isotropic integrable quantum spin chains.
