Abstract

We observe 69 $^{41}\mathrm{K}{\text{\ensuremath{-}}}^{6}\mathrm{Li}$ interspecies Feshbach resonances including 13 elastic $p$-wave resonances and 6 broad $d$-wave resonances of $^{41}\mathrm{K}$ atoms in different spin-state combinations at fields up to 600 G. Multichannel quantum-defect theory calculation is performed to assign these resonances and the results show perfect agreement with experimental values after improving input parameters. The observed broad $p$- and $d$-wave resonances display a fully resolved multiplet structure. They may serve as important simulators to nonzero partial-wave-dominated physics.

Feshbach spectroscopy and scattering properties of ultracold Li + Na mixtures

T. Schuster, R. Scelle, A. Trautmann +6 more

We have observed 26 interspecies Feshbach resonances at fields up to 2050 G in ultracold ${}^{6}\text{Li}+{}^{23}\text{Na}$ mixtures for different spin-state combinations. Applying the asymptotic bound-state model to assign the resonances, we found that most resonances have $d$-wave character. This analysis serves as guidance for a coupled-channel calculation, which uses modified interaction potentials to describe the positions of the Feshbach resonances well within the experimental uncertainty and to calculate their widths. The scattering length derived from the improved interaction potentials is experimentally confirmed and deviates from previously reported values in sign and magnitude. We give prospects for ${}^{7}\text{Li}+{}^{23}\text{Na}$ and predict broad Feshbach resonances suitable for tuning.

Exploring an Ultracold Fermi-Fermi Mixture: Interspecies Feshbach Resonances and Scattering Properties of Li6 and K40

E. Wille, F. M. Spiegelhalder, Gabriel Kerner +10 more

We report on the observation of Feshbach resonances in an ultracold mixture of two fermionic species, (6)Li and (40)K. The experimental data are interpreted using a simple asymptotic bound state model and full coupled channels calculations. This unambiguously assigns the observed resonances in terms of various s- and p-wave molecular states and fully characterizes the ground-state scattering properties in any combination of spin states.

Observation of Broad d -Wave Feshbach Resonances with a Triplet Structure

Yue Cui, Chuyang Shen, Min Deng +6 more

High partial-wave (l≥2) Feshbach resonance (FR) in an ultracold mixture of ^{85}Rb-^{87}Rb atoms is investigated experimentally aided by a partial-wave insensitive analytic multichannel quantum-defect theory. Two "broad" resonances from coupling between d waves in both the open and closed channels are observed and characterized. One of them shows a fully resolved triplet structure with a splitting ratio well explained by the perturbation to the closed channel due to interatomic spin-spin interaction. These tunable "broad" d-wave resonances, especially the one in the lowest-energy open channel, could find important applications in simulating d-wave coupling dominated many-body systems. In addition, we find that there is generally a time and temperature requirement, associated with tunneling through the angular momentum barrier, to establish and observe resonant coupling in nonzero partial waves.

Feshbach loss spectroscopy in an ultracold Na23−K40 mixture

Minjie Zhu, Huan Yang, Lan Liu +7 more

We perform Feshbach spectroscopy in an ultracold mixture of $^{23}\mathrm{Na}$ and $^{40}\mathrm{K}$ with different spin-state combinations. We observed 24 new interspecies Feshbach resonances at magnetic fields up to 350 G. A full coupled-channel calculation is performed to assign these resonances. Among them, 12 resonances are identified as $d$-wave Feshbach resonances. These $d$-wave Feshbach resonances are about 5 G systematically smaller than the predictions based on the previous model potential. Taking into account these experimental results, we improve the Born-Oppenheimer potentials between Na and K and achieve good agreement between the theory and experiment for all the observed Feshbach resonances.

Feshbach spectroscopy of ultracold mixtures of Li 6 and Dy 164 atoms

Ke Xie, Xi Li, Yu-Yang Zhou +7 more

We report on the observation of Feshbach resonances in ultracold $^{6}\mathrm{Li}\text{\ensuremath{-}}^{164}\mathrm{Dy}$ mixtures, where $^{6}\mathrm{Li}$ atoms are respectively prepared in their three lowest spin states and $^{164}\mathrm{Dy}$ atoms are prepared in their lowest-energy state. We observe 21 interspecies scattering resonances over a magnetic-field range from 0 to 702 G using atom loss spectroscopy, three of which exhibit relatively broad widths. These broad resonances provide precise control over the interspecies interaction strength, enabling the study of strongly interacting effects in $^{6}\mathrm{Li}\text{\ensuremath{-}}^{164}\mathrm{Dy}$ mixtures. Additionally, we observe a well-isolated interspecies resonance at 700.1 G, offering a unique platform to explore novel impurity physics, where heavy dipolar $^{164}\mathrm{Dy}$ atoms are immersed in a strongly interacting Fermi superfluid of $^{6}\mathrm{Li}$ atoms.
