Abstract

The two-dimensional hydrogen atom in an external magnetic field is considered in the context of phase space. Using the solution of the Schrödinger equation in phase space, the Wigner function related to the Zeeman effect is calculated. For this purpose, the Bohlin mapping is used to transform the Coulomb potential into a harmonic oscillator problem. Then, it is possible to solve the Schrödinger equation easier by using the perturbation theory. The negativity parameter for this system is realised.

2D Schrödinger Equation with Mixed Potential in Noncommutaive Complex space

Slimane Zaim, Hakim Guelmamene

We obtain exact solutions of the 2D Schrödinger equation for Hydrogen atom with the lenear and Harmonic Potentials in noncommutative complex space, using the Power-series expansion method. Hence we can say that the Schrödinger equation in noncommutative complex space describes to the particles with spin (1/2)in an external uniform magnitic field. Where the noncommutativity play the role of magnetic field with created the total magnetic moment of particle with spin 1/2, who in turn shifted the spectrum of energy. Such effects are similar to the Zeeman splitting in a commutative space.

Wigner phase-space distribution function for the hydrogen atom

S. Nouri

In this work we present a theoretical study of the hydrogen atom in quantum phase space. A coordinate transformation is used that maps the hydrogen atom into a four-dimensional harmonic oscillator and the Wigner distribution function for the hydrogen atom is then obtained. This exactly soluble model can shed some light on finite-size features of Wigner's distribution, which will be a vital experience for various dynamic problems.

Hydrogen atom moving across a magnetic field

Yu. E. Lozovik, S. Yu. Volkov

A hydrogen atom moving across a magnetic field is considered in a wide region of magnitudes of magnetic field and atom momentum. We solve the Schr\"odinger equation of the system numerically using an imaginary time method and find wave functions of the lowest states of atom. We calculate the energy and the mean electron-nucleus separation as a function of atom momentum and magnetic field. All the results obtained could be summarized as a phase diagram on the ``atom-momentum -- magnetic-field'' plane. There are transformations of wave-function structure at critical values of atom momentum and magnetic field that result in a specific behavior of dependencies of energy and mean interparticle separation on the atom momentum $P.$ We discuss a transition from the Zeeman regime to the high magnetic field regime. A qualitative analysis of the complicated behavior of wave functions vs $P$ based on the effective potential examination is given. We analyze a sharp transition at the critical momentum from a Coulomb-type state polarized due to atom motion to a strongly decentered (Landau-type) state at low magnetic fields. A crossover occurring at intermediate magnetic fields is also studied.

Exact analytical solutions of a two-dimensional hydrogen atom in a constant magnetic field

Dai-Nam Le, Ngoc-Tram D. Hoang, Van-Hoang Le

A hydrogen atom in a constant magnetic field is a problem whose Schrödinger equation has been considered to be analytically unsolvable. However, it has been found for the case of two-dimensional space some specific values of the magnetic field for which the problem has analytical solutions. In this paper, we give a full theory for these analytical solutions. First, we construct an equation to calculate of exact-solution-points, the values of magnetic field which allow exact solutions for the Schrödinger equation. The explicit forms of the wave functions corresponding to these analytical solutions are also given. Second, we analyse the exact-solution-points and discover some important rules. (i) There exist (n − 1)2 different values of the magnetic field so that the Schrödinger equation of a two-dimensional hydrogen atom in such field has exact analytical solutions with the principal quantum number n. (ii) For more details, among these (n − 1)2 exact analytical solutions, there are nr=n−|m|−1 solutions with the same magnetic quantum number m. Both properties are also proved mathematically in this paper. For illustration, some concrete values are shown for the cases of quantum number n up to 8.

Wave mechanics in quantum phase space: hydrogen atom

Jun Lu

The rigorous solutions of the stationary Schrodinger equation for hydrogen atom are solved with the wave-mechanics method within the framework of the quantum phase-space representation established by Torres-Vega and Frederick. The Fourier-like projection transformations of wave function from the phase space to position and momentum spaces are extended to three-dimensional systems. The eigenfunctions in general position and momentum spaces could be obtained through the transformations from eigenfunction in the phase space.

Hydrogen atom as a four-dimensional oscillator

Augustine C. Chen

A coordinate transformation which exhibits the rotational invariance of the hydrogen atom in four-dimensional Hilbert space is introduced. The coordinates are shown to be directly related to the spherical polar and parabolic coordinates in position space. With the use of the transformation, the Schr\"odinger equation for the hydrogen atom left-multiplied by $4r$ is transformed into one for a four-dimensional harmonic oscillator. Solutions are obtained and related to the hydrogenic wave functions. Group-theoretical implications of the transformation and its application to the hydrogen Stark problem are briefly discussed.
