Floquet dynamical quantum phase transitions under synchronized periodic driving

Rouhollah Jafari, Alireza Akbari, Utkarsh Mishra +1 more

We study a generic class of fermionic two-band models under synchronized periodic driving, i.e., with the different terms in a Hamiltonian subject to periodic drives with the same frequency and phase. With all modes initially in a maximally mixed state, the synchronized drive is found to produce nonperiodic patterns of dynamical quantum phase transitions, with their appearance determined by an interplay of the band structure and the frequency of the drive. A case study of the anisotropic XY chain in a transverse magnetic field, transcribed to an effective two-band model, shows that the modes come with quantized geometric phases, allowing for the construction of an effective dynamical order parameter. Numerical studies in the limit of a strong magnetic field reveal distinct signals of precursors of dynamical quantum phase transitions also when the initial state of the XY chain is perturbed slightly away from maximal mixing, suggesting that the transitions may be accessible experimentally. A blueprint for an experiment built around laser-trapped circular Rydberg atoms is proposed.

Exact diagonalization of the XY-Hamiltonian of open linear chains with periodic coupling constants and its application

K. E. Feldman

A new method of diagonalization of the XY-Hamiltonian of inhomogeneous open linear chains with periodic (in space) changing Larmor frequencies and coupling constants is developed. As an example of application, multiple-quantum dynamics of an inhomogeneous chain consisting of 1001 spins is investigated. Intensities of multiple-quantum coherences are calculated for arbitrary inhomogeneous chains in the approximation of the next-nearest interactions.

Dynamical properties of phonons in the XY spin chain coupled with lattices

Fei Ye, Guo-Hui Ding, Bo-Wei Xu

We study the dynamical properties of the phonons in the $\mathrm{XY}$ spin chain coupled with lattices subjected to the applied magnetic field with the path-integral approach. Dynamical structure factor is calculated in the presence of the magnetic field. A critical value of the bare \ensuremath{\pi}-mode phonon frequency ${\ensuremath{\Omega}}_{\ensuremath{\pi},c}$ is given such that for ${\ensuremath{\Omega}}_{\ensuremath{\pi}}<{\ensuremath{\Omega}}_{\ensuremath{\pi},c}$ the spin-Peierls transition is in the soft-mode regime and for ${\ensuremath{\Omega}}_{\ensuremath{\pi}}>{\ensuremath{\Omega}}_{\ensuremath{\pi},c}$ it is in the central-peak regime. We find that ${\ensuremath{\Omega}}_{\ensuremath{\pi},c}$ depends on the magnitude of the applied magnetic field.
