Abstract

Abstract We propose a scheme for a programmable quantum motherboard based on a system of three interacting high-Q resonators coupled with two-level atoms. By using algebraic methods, we found that the investigated atomic-resonator platform can possess an equidistant spectrum of eigenfrequencies at which the simple reversible dynamics of single photon excitation becomes possible. It was shown that such a multiresonator quantum motherboard scheme allows us to achieve an efficient and programmable quantum state transfer between distributed atoms and generate logical qubits and qutrits. The use of the studied circuit in quantum processing is proposed.

Quantum computer with atomic logical qubits encoded on macroscopic three-level systems in common quantum electrodynamic cavity

Farid Mansurovich Ablayev, S. N. Andrianov, Sergey A. Moiseev +1 more

We propose an effective realization of the universal set of elementary quantum gates in solid state quantum computer based on macroscopic (or mesoscopic) resonance systems — multiatomic coherent ensembles, squids or quantum dots in quantum electrodynamic cavity. We exploit an encoding of logical qubits by the pairs of the macroscopic two- or three-level atoms that is working in a Hilbert subspace of all states inherent to these atomic systems. In this subspace, logical single qubit gates are realized by the controlled reversible transfer of single atomic excitation in the pair via the exchange of virtual photons and by the frequency shift of one of the atomic ensembles in a pair. In the case of two-level systems, the logical two-qubit gates are performed by the controlling of Lamb shift magnitude in one atomic ensemble, allowing/blocking the excitation transfer in a pair, respectively, that is controlled by the third atomic system of another pair. When using three-level systems, we describe the NOT-gate in the atomic pair controlled by the transfer of working atomic excitation to the additional third level caused by direct impact of the control pair excitation. Finally, we discuss advantages of the proposed physical system for accelerated computation of some useful quantum gates.

Quantum computer based on triangular atom-photon molecule

Alexander Vasiliev, Sergey A. Moiseev, Farid Mansurovich Ablayev +1 more

Configuration of three resonators connected located in triangular scheme is considered for implementation of single and two-qubit gates. Each of the resonators can be coupled with its three-level atom and with neighbor resonator in defined moment of time. The regimes for coherent control of atom-photonic molecule states in the studied scheme and realization of single- and two qubit gates on this basis are theoretically investigated. The two qubit gate is considered in two various regimes: at the sequential switching on the interactions with step by step transfer of excitation and when central resonator is coupled simultaneously with two side resonators and excitation is transferring in the course of single process. Comparison of these two approaches is performed and recommendations for the construction of quantum computers on the atom-photon molecular states are presented.

Multiresonator Quantum Memory with Switcher

Sergey A. Moiseev, Nikolay Sergeevich Perminov

A scheme of multiresonator quantum memory based on a system of four interacting resonators connected through a common resonator to an external carrier by means of switchable coupling has been studied. The parameters of the resonators and the frequency spectrum of the system under study have been optimized using algebraic methods. It has been shown that these parameters allow efficient controlled reversible transfer of information into quantum memory with arbitrarily long storage. Possible applications of the developed scheme for quantum processing have been discussed.

Quantum memory on multi atom-resonator system

Sergey A. Moiseev, Nikolay Sergeevich Perminov, A. M. Zheltikov

We propose a composite frequency-scalable quantum memory (QM) scheme based on a system of coupled resonators with single atoms capable of efficient storage of the quantum states of broadband single-photon fields having an arbitrary time form. The analyzed QM consists of 8 high-Q miniresonators coupled to a common resonator that is connected to the external waveguide, where each miniresonator contains a single atom. Based on the methods of optimization of the transfer function, we found the optimal parameters of the QM scheme at which an efficient transfer of a photon wave packet from an external waveguide to the atoms is possible for efficient long-term storage in long-lived atomic states. Various functional modes of using the memory circuit are described and ways to increase efficiency for its use in quantum processing are discussed.

Quantum memory based on a system of resonators each containing one atom and connected to an external waveguide through a common resonator has been proposed. The parameters of the resonators and atoms interacting with them at which the effective transfer of a single-photon signal wave packet from the external waveguide to atomic states for long-term storage of the quantum state of the photon have been determined using reversible properties of the dynamics of the system under study and optimization methods. The advantages of quantum memory under consideration, as well as experimental possibilities of its implementation, have been discussed.

Integrated quantum memory with a single atom in a system of two resonators

Nikolay Sergeevich Perminov, Sergey A. Moiseev

A quantum memory scheme based on an atom in a resonator is proposed. The resonator is coupled to an external waveguide via an additional (buffer) resonator. This setup enables strong interactions between the resonators, expanding the operating spectral range of the quantum memory and improving its dynamic properties. The spectral characteristics of the memory are simulated, depending on tuning parameters near the degeneracy points of the system, and the transfer function of photon loading onto atomic states is optimized. The studied scheme increases the efficiency and quality of loading broadband single-photon states, simplifying control methods compared to the standard single-resonator scheme. Possible implementations of the proposed quantum memory in an integrated circuit are discussed.
