On Gaussian coherence breaking channels

Dahong Wei, Kan He, Jinchuan Hou

In the paper, we give a characterization of arbitrary $n$-mode Gaussian coherence breaking channels (GCBCs) and show the tensor product of a GCBC and arbitrary a Gaussian channel maps all input states into product states. The inclusion relation among GCBCs, Gaussian positive partial transpose channels (GPPTC), entanglement breaking channels (GEBC) and Gaussian classical-quantum channels (GCQC) is displayed. Finally, we prove that Gaussian classical ($\chi$-) capacity for the tensor products of GCBCs and arbitrary Gaussian channels is additive.

Gaussian channel in a quantum information network

Liu Guo, Bi Qiao, Harry E. Ruda

Starting from the quantum Fokker–Planck equation, a viable quantum Gaussian channel is constructed in a quantum information network. It is shown that the solution of this equation satisfies a Gaussian distribution channel. Transforming the solution of the Fokker–Planck equation and substituting it into the information formula, a quantum dynamical mutual information equation is obtained in the coherent state representation. On the basis of this equation, a new scheme is proposed to implement parallel quantum information processing in the quantum Gaussian channel. The proposed scheme takes the coefficients related to the encryption states of photons as the signal, and encodes the information that will be passed in the quantum Gaussian channel from the input terminal. Information is then accessed by extracting and decoding the coefficients from the output terminal. Compared with a classical Gaussian channel, this approach offers the advantage of quantum parallelism.

Cohering and decohering power of Gaussian channels

Huazhen Yao, Jianwen Zhang, Yangyang Wang

In this paper, we generalized the concepts of the cohering power and decohering power to Gaussian channels for continuous-variable systems with respect to coherence measures based on the relative entropy and obtained some basic properties. In addition, the cohering power and decohering power of classical noise channels, thermal noise channels and amplifier channels are calculated.

Probing parameters estimation with Gaussian non-commutative measurements

Alice P. G. Hall, Carlos H. S. Vieira, Jonas F. G. Santos

Gaussian quantum states and channels are pivotal across many branches of quantum science and their applications, including the processing and storage of quantum information, the investigation of thermodynamics in the quantum regime, and quantum computation. The great advantage is that Gaussian states are experimentally accessible via their first and second statistical moments. In this work, we investigate parameter estimation for Gaussian states, in which the probe-state preparation stage involves two noncommutative Gaussian measurements on the position and momentum observables, introducing tunable parameters. The influence of these noncommutative Gaussian measurements is investigated through the quantum Fisher information (QFI). We showed that the QFI for characterizing Gaussian channels can be increased by adjusting the uncertainty parameters in the preparation of the probe state. Furthermore, if the probe is initially in a thermal state, probe-state preparation may generate quantum coherence in its energy basis. We showed that not only does the amount of coherence affect the improvement of the QFI, but also the rate of change of the coherence with respect to the parameter to be estimated. The proposed probe-state protocol is applied to two paradigmatic single-mode Gaussian channels, the attenuator and amplification channels, which are building blocks of Gaussian quantum information. Our results contribute to the use of coherence in quantum metrology and are experimentally feasible in quantum-optical devices.
