Abstract

Abstract We consider the minimal area of the entanglement wedge cross section (EWCS) in Einstein gravity. In the context of holography, it is proposed that this quantity is dual to different information measures, e.g., entanglement of purification, logarithmic negativity and reflected entropy. Motivated by these proposals, we examine in detail the low and high temperature corrections to this quantity and show that it obeys the area law even in the finite temperature. We also study EWCS in nonrelativistic field theories with nontrivial Lifshitz and hyperscaling violating exponents. The resultant EWCS is an increasing function of the dynamical exponent due to the enhancement of spatial correlations between subregions for larger values of z. We find that EWCS is monotonically decreasing as the hyperscaling violating exponent increases. We also obtain this quantity for an entangling region with singular boundary in a three dimensional field theory and find a universal contribution where the coefficient depends on the central charge. Finally, we verify that for higher dimensional singular regions the corresponding EWCS obeys the area law.

Entanglement wedge cross section growth during thermalization

Komeil Babaei Velni, M. Reza Mohammadi Mozaffar, Mohammad Hassan Vahidinia

Motivated by exploring the thermalization process in relativistic and nonrelativistic holographic field theories after a nonlocal quench, we investigate some features in the time evolution of the entanglement wedge cross section (EWCS). This quantity is a possible holographic dual to some nonlocal information measures such as entanglement of purification. In particular, we focus on the time dependence of the EWCS during black hole formation in ($D+2$)-dimensional anti--de Sitter spacetime as well as geometries with Lifshitz and hyperscaling-violating exponents. A combination of analytic and numerical results for large symmetric strip shaped boundary subregions shows that the scaling of the EWCS at early times only depends on the Lifshitz exponent. In addition, this early-growth regime is followed by a linear-growth regime whose velocity depends on the dimensions of spacetime, the Lifshitz exponent, and the hyperscaling parameter. This velocity is the same as the entanglement velocity and for nontrivial dynamical exponent depends on the temperature of the final equilibrium state.

Entanglement wedge cross section in holographic excited states

Mohammad Sahraei, Mohammad Javad Vasli, M. Reza Mohammadi Mozaffar +1 more

Abstract We evaluate the entanglement wedge cross section (EWCS) in asymptotically AdS geometries which are dual to boundary excited states. We carry out a perturbative analysis for calculating EWCS between the vacuum and other states for a symmetric configuration consisting of two disjoint strips and obtain analytical results in the specific regimes of the parameter space. In particular, when the states described by purely gravitational excitations in the bulk we find that the leading correction to EWCS is negative and hence the correlation between the boundary subregions decreases. We also study other types of excitations upon adding the extra matter fields including current and scalar condensate. Our study reveals some generic properties of boundary information measures dual to EWCS, e.g., entanglement of purification, logarithmic negativity and reflected entropy. Finally, we discuss how these results are consistent with the behavior of other correlation measures including the holographic mutual information.

Evolution of entanglement wedge cross section following a global quench

Komeil Babaei Velni, M. Reza Mohammadi Mozaffar, Mohammad Hassan Vahidinia

Abstract We study the evolution of entanglement wedge cross section (EWCS) in the Vaidya geometry describing a thin shell of null matter collapsing into the AdS vacuum to form a black brane. In the holographic context, it is proposed that this quantity is dual to different information measures including entanglement of purification, reflected entropy, odd entropy and logarithmic negativity. In 2 + 1 dimensions, we present a combination of numerical and analytic results on the evolution and scaling of EWCS for strip shaped boundary subregions after a thermal quench. In the limit of large subregions, we find that the time evolution of EWCS is characterized by three different scaling regimes: an early time quadratic growth, an intermediate linear growth and a late time saturation. Further, in 3 + 1 dimensions, we examine the scaling behavior by considering thermal and electromagnetic quenches. In the case of a thermal quench, our numerical analysis supply results similar to observations made for the lower dimension. On the other hand, for electromagnetic quenches at zero temperature, an interesting feature is a departure from the linear behavior of the evolution to logarithmic growth.

On Minimal Entanglement Wedge Cross Section for Holographic Entanglement Negativity

Jaydeep Kumar Basak, Vinay Malvimat, Himanshu Parihar +2 more

We demonstrate the equivalence of two different conjectures in the literature for the holographic entanglement negativity in AdS3/CFT2, modulo certain constants. These proposals involve certain algebraic sums of bulk geodesics homologous to specific combinations of subsystems, and the entanglement wedge cross section (EWCS) backreacted by a cosmic brane for the conical defect geometry in the bulk gravitational path integral. It is observed that the former conjectures reproduce the field theory replica technique results in the large central charge limit whereas the latter involves constants related to the Markov gap. In this context, we establish an alternative construction for the EWCS of a single interval in a CFT2 at a finite temperature to resolve an issue for the latter proposal involving thermal entropy elimination for holographic entanglement negativity. Our construction for the EWCS correctly reproduces the corresponding field theory results modulo the Markov gap constant in the large central charge limit.

Entanglement negativity and minimal entanglement wedge cross sections in holographic theories

Jonah Kudler-Flam, Shinsei Ryu

We calculate logarithmic negativity, a quantum entanglement measure for mixed quantum states, in quantum error-correcting codes and find it to equal the minimal cross sectional area of the entanglement wedge in holographic codes with a quantum correction term equal to the logarithmic negativity between the bulk degrees of freedom on either side of the entanglement wedge cross section. This leads us to conjecture a holographic dual for logarithmic negativity that is related to the area of a cosmic brane with tension in the entanglement wedge plus a quantum correction term. This is closely related to (though distinct from) the holographic proposal for entanglement of purification. We check this relation for various configurations of subregions in ${\mathrm{AdS}}_{3}/{\mathrm{CFT}}_{2}$. These are disjoint intervals at zero temperature, as well as a single interval and adjacent intervals at finite temperature. We also find this prescription to effectively characterize the thermofield double state. We discuss how a deformation of a spherical entangling region complicates calculations and speculate how to generalize to a covariant description.
