Abstract

We investigate the quantum correlation dynamics in a dark-soliton qubits with special attention to quantum discord. Recently, dark-soliton qubit exhibiting appreciably long lifetime are proved to be an excellent candidate for information processing. Depending on the precise distance between the dark-soliton qubits, the decay rate of Dicke symmetric and antisymmetric state is suppressed or enhanced. With the Renyi-2 entropy, we derive a simple analytical expression for the quantum discord, and explore the generation and decay of correlation for different initial states. We believe the present work could pave the stage for a new generation of quantum discord based purely on matter-wave phononics.

Spontaneous generation of phononic entanglement in quantum dark-soliton qubits

Muzzamal Iqbal Shaukat, Eduardo V. Castro, Hugo Terças

We show that entanglement between two solitary qubits in quasi-one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensates can be spontaneously generated due to quantum fluctuations. Recently we have shown that dark solitons are an appealing platform for qubits thanks to their appreciable long lifetime. We investigate the spontaneous generation of entanglement between dark-soliton qubits in the dissipative process of spontaneous emission. By driving the qubits with the help of oscillating magnetic field gradients, we observe the formation of long distance steady-state concurrence. Our results suggest that dark-soliton qubits are good candidates for quantum information protocols based purely on matter-wave phononics.

Entanglement sudden death and revival in quantum dark-soliton qubits

Muzzamal Iqbal Shaukat, Eduardo V. Castro, Hugo Terças

We study the finite time entanglement dynamics between two dark-soliton qubits due to quantum fluctuations in quasi-one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensates. Recently, dark solitons are proved to be an appealing platform for qubits due to their appreciably long lifetime. We explore the entanglement decay for an entangled state of two phonon coherences and the qubits to be in the diagonal basis of so-called Dicke states. We observe the collapse and revival of the entanglement, depending critically on the collective damping term but independent of the qubit-qubit interaction for both initial states. The collective behavior of the dark-soliton qubits demonstrate the dependence of entanglement evolution on the interatomic distance.

Spontaneous generation of entanglement in quantum dark-soliton qubits

Muzzamal Iqbal Shaukat, Eduardo V. Castro, Hugo Terças

We show that entanglement between two solitary qubits in quasi one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensates can be spontaneously generated due to quantum fluctuations. Recently, we have shown that dark solitons are an appealing platform for qubits due to their appreciably long lifetime. We explore the creation of entanglement between dark soliton qubits by using the superposition of two maximally entangled states in the dissipative process of spontaneous emission. By driving the qubits with the help of Raman lasers, we observe the formation of long distance steady-state concurrence. Our results suggest that dark-soliton qubits are a good candidates for quantum information protocols based purely on matter-wave phononics.

Phononic phase gate with dark-soliton qubit

Muzzamal Iqbal Shaukat, Eduardo V. Castro, Hugo Terças

Abstract We investigate a single as well as two dark-soliton qubits in a quasi one-dimensional Bose–Einstein condensates, surrounded by a dilute set of impurities. The qubits are driven externally with the help of oscillating magnetic field gradient, to observe the decay of populated states. The existence of Dicke superradiance and subradiance phenomenon, resulting from phonon-mediated coupling between dark-soliton qubit, enables to build a quantum phase gate. This is the first study on quantum gates mediated by phonons in dark-soliton qubit.

Quantum discord for two-qubit X states

Mazhar Ali, A. R. P. Rau, G. Alber

Quantum discord, a kind of quantum correlation, is defined as the difference between quantum mutual information and classical correlation in a bipartite system. In general, this correlation is different from entanglement, and quantum discord may be nonzero even for certain separable states. Even in the simple case of bipartite quantum systems, this different kind of quantum correlation has interesting and significant applications in quantum information processing. So far, quantum discord has been calculated explicitly only for a rather limited set of two-qubit quantum states and expressions for more general quantum states are not known. In this article, we derive explicit expressions for quantum discord for a larger class of two-qubit states, namely, a seven-parameter family of so called $X$ states that have been of interest in a variety of contexts in the field. We also study the relation between quantum discord, classical correlation, and entanglement for a number of two-qubit states to demonstrate that they are independent measures of correlation with no simple relative ordering between them.

Dynamics of Quantum Discord in Asymmetric and Local Non-Markovian Environments

Xiang Hao, Tao Pan, Sha Jin-Qiao +1 more

The non-Markovian decoherence of quantum and classical correlations is analytically obtained when two qubits are asymmetrically subjected to the bit flip channel and phase flip channel. For one class of initial mixed states, quantum correlations quantified by quantum discord decay synchronously with classical correlations. The discovery that the decaying rates of quantum and classical correlations suddenly change at the characteristic time is physically interpreted by the distance from quantum state to the closest classical states. In a large time interval, quantum correlations are greater than classical correlations. The quantum and classical correlations can be preserved over a longer period of time via the kernel characterizing the environment memory effects.
