Abstract

Abstract We develop an efficient method to compute the torus partition function of the six-vertex model exactly for finite lattice size. The method is based on the algebro-geometric approach to the resolution of Bethe ansatz equations initiated in a previous work, and on further ingredients introduced in the present paper. The latter include rational Q-system, primary decomposition, algebraic extension and Galois theory. Using this approach, we probe new structures in the solution space of the Bethe ansatz equations which enable us to boost the efficiency of the computation. As an application, we study the zeros of the partition function in a partial thermodynamic limit of M × N tori with N ≫ M. We observe that for N → ∞ the zeros accumulate on some curves and give a numerical method to generate the curves of accumulation points.

Cylinder partition function of the 6-vertex model from algebraic geometry

Zoltán Bajnok, Jesper Lykke Jacobsen, Yunfeng Jiang +2 more

Abstract We compute the exact partition function of the isotropic 6-vertex model on a cylinder geometry with free boundary conditions, for lattices of intermediate size, using Bethe ansatz and algebraic geometry. We perform the computations in both the open and closed channels. We also consider the partial thermodynamic limits, whereby in the open (closed) channel, the open (closed) direction is kept small while the other direction becomes large. We compute the zeros of the partition function in the two partial thermodynamic limits, and compare with the condensation curves.

Geometric algebra and algebraic geometry of loop and Potts models

Janko Böhm, Jesper Lykke Jacobsen, Yunfeng Jiang +1 more

Abstract We uncover a connection between two seemingly separate subjects in integrable models: the representation theory of the affine Temperley-Lieb algebra, and the algebraic structure of solutions to the Bethe equations of the XXZ spin chain. We study the solution of Bethe equations analytically by computational algebraic geometry, and find that the solution space encodes rich information about the representation theory of Temperley-Lieb algebra. Using these connections, we compute the partition function of the completely-packed loop model and of the closely related random-cluster Potts model, on medium-size lattices with toroidal boundary conditions, by two quite different methods. We consider the partial thermodynamic limit of infinitely long tori and analyze the corresponding condensation curves of the zeros of the partition functions. Two components of these curves are obtained analytically in the full thermodynamic limit.

On the Six-Vertex Model’s Free Energy

Hugo Duminil‐Copin, Karol Kajetan Kozlowski, Dmitry Krachun +2 more

Abstract In this paper, we provide new proofs of the existence and the condensation of Bethe roots for the Bethe Ansatz equation associated with the six-vertex model with periodic boundary conditions and an arbitrary density of up arrows (per line) in the regime $$\Delta <1$$ Δ<1 . As an application, we provide a short, fully rigorous computation of the free energy of the six-vertex model on the torus, as well as an asymptotic expansion of the six-vertex partition functions when the density of up arrows approaches 1/2. This latter result is at the base of a number of recent results, in particular the rigorous proof of continuity/discontinuity of the phase transition of the random-cluster model, the localization/delocalization behaviour of the six-vertex height function when $$a=b=1$$ a=b=1 and $$c\ge 1$$ c≥1 , and the rotational invariance of the six-vertex model and the Fortuin–Kasteleyn percolation.

An introduction to the algebraic Bethe ansatz

James Plunkett, Omar E. Foda

The algebraic Bethe ansatz is one of the main approaches to solving integrable models in statistical mechanics. This thesis is a detailed introduction to aspects of this technique. In chapter 1, following Takhtajan1, we fully explain all preliminaries that are required by this technique in the context of the 8-vertex model, including the solution of the Yang-Baxter equations in terms of Boltzmann weights that are parameterized by elliptic function. In chapter 2, also following Takhtajan, we restrict our attention to the special case of the 6-vertex model, with Boltzmann weights parameterized by hyperbolic trigonometric functions, formulate the model in detail on a finite lattice with periodic boundary conditions, and show how the algebraic Bethe ansatz can be used to characterize the eigenvectors and eigenvalues, in the homogeneous case (all vertical rapidities are equal, and all horizontal rapidities are also equal). In chapter 3, following Bogoliubov et al2, we consider the 6-vertex model in inhomogeneous case (all rapidities are now independenti variables) but with domain wall boundary conditions. Using the algebraic Bethe ansatz, and Izergin’s result for the partition function, we calculate boundary 1-point functions of the six-vertex model on a finite lattice and represent them in determinant form. Boundary perimeter Bethe ansatz

Rouven Frassek

Abstract We study the partition function of the six-vertex model in the rational limit on arbitrary Baxter lattices with reflecting boundary. Every such lattice is interpreted as an invariant of the twisted Yangian. This identification allows us to relate the partition function of the vertex model to the Bethe wave function of an open spin chain. We obtain the partition function in terms of creation operators on a reference state from the algebraic Bethe ansatz and as a sum of permutations and reflections from the coordinate Bethe ansatz.

Rational Q-systems at root of unity I. Closed chains

Jue Hou, Yunfeng Jiang, Yuan Miao

The solution of Bethe Ansatz equations for XXZ spin chain with the parameter q being a root of unity is infamously subtle. In this work, we develop the rational Q-system for this case, which offers a systematic way to find all physical solutions of the Bethe Ansatz equations at root of unity. The construction contains two parts. In the first part, we impose additional constraints to the rational Q-system. These constraints eliminate the so-called Fabricius-McCoy (FM) string solutions, yielding all primitive solutions. In the second part, we give a simple procedure to construct the descendant tower of any given primitive state. The primitive solutions together with their descendant towers constitute the complete Hilbert space. We test our proposal by extensive numerical checks and apply it to compute the torus partition function of the 6-vertex model at root of unity.
