Abstract

Based on the time-convolutionless master-equation approach, we investigate squeezing of light field in a dissipative Jaynes–Cummings model. The results show that squeezing light can be generated when the atom transits to a ground state from an excited state, and then a collapse-revival phenomenon will occur in the squeezing of light field due to atom-cavity coupling. Enhancing the atom-cavity coupling can increase the frequency of the collapse-revival of squeezing. The stronger the non-Markovian effect is, the more obvious the collapse-revival phenomenon is. The oscillatory frequency of the squeezing is dependent on the resonant frequency of the atom-cavity.

Collapse–revival of squeezing of two atoms in dissipative cavities

Hong‐Mei Zou, Mao-Fa Fang

Based on the time-convolutionless master-equation approach, we investigate the squeezing dynamics of two atoms in dissipative cavities. We find that the atomic squeezing is related to initial atomic states, atom–cavity couplings, non-Markovian effects and resonant frequencies of an atom and its cavity. The results show that a collapse–revival phenomenon will occur in the atomic squeezing and this process is accompanied by the buildup and decay of entanglement between two atoms. Enhancing the atom–cavity coupling can increase the frequency of the collapse–revival of the atomic squeezing. The stronger the non-Markovian effect is, the more obvious the collapse–revival phenomenon is. In particular, if the atom–cavity coupling or the non-Markovian effect is very strong, the atomic squeezing will tend to a stably periodic oscillation in a long time. The oscillatory frequency of the atomic squeezing is dependent on the resonant frequency of the atom and its cavity.

Atomic and field squeezing effects in Jaynes-Cummings model with cavity dissipation

Zhang Xianhan

The field squeezing and the atomic dipole squeezing of a two-level atom in a dissipative cavity initially in vacuum are investigated.By means of exact solution of the master equation, the matrix elements of the density operator of the compound atom-field system are obtained. It is found that the cavity dissipation has an obvious influence on the atomic squeezing and the field squeezing under the resonant atom-field interaction. But the effects of the cavity dissipation on both squeezing will decrease under the off-resonance interaction condition.

Controlling nonclassical properties of the Jaynes-Cummings model by an external coherent field

Fuli Li, Shaoyan Gao

The dynamics of the driven Jaynes-Cummings model where a two-level atom is coupled to a single mode of cavity fields and is driven by an external coherent field is investigated. We find that in this model quantum collapse and revivals of the atomic population inversion and squeezing of the cavity field can be generated from a thermal photon state. We also notice that the squeezing is very sensitive to the mean number of thermal photons initially in the cavity, but the quantum collapse and revivals are not. The influence of the amplitude of the driving field and various detuning parameters on the nonclassical effects is discussed. The result shows that one can use the external field to control nonclassical effects in the Jaynes-Cummings model.

Collective effects in the collapse-revival phenomenon and squeezing in the Dicke model

Guy Z. Ramon, Constantin Brif, A. Mann

Resonant interaction of a collection of two-level atoms with a single-mode coherent cavity field is considered in the framework of the Dicke model. We focus on the role of collective atomic effects in the phenomenon of collapses and revivals of the Rabi oscillations. It is shown that the behavior of the system strongly depends on the initial atomic state. In the case of the initial half-excited Dicke state we account for a number of interesting phenomena. The correlations between the atoms result in a suppression of the revival amplitude, and the revival time is halved, compared to the uncorrelated fully excited and ground states. The phenomenon of squeezing of the radiation field in the atom-field interaction is also discussed. For the initial fully excited and ground atomic states, the field is squeezed on the short-time scale, and squeezing can be enhanced by increasing the number of atoms. Some empirical formulas are found which describe the behavior of the system in excellent agreement with numerical results. For the half-excited Dicke state, the field can be strongly squeezed on the long-time scale in the case of two atoms. This kind of squeezing is enhanced by increasing the intensity of the initial coherent field and is of the same nature as revival-time squeezing in the Jaynes-Cummings model. The appearance of this long-time squeezing can be explained using the factorization approximation for semiclassical atomic states.

Statistics and light squeezing in the dissipative two-atom Jaynes-Cummings model

Eugene K. Bashkirov, Русакова Маргарита Сергеевна

The statistical and fluctuational properties of an electromagnetic field in a nonideal cavity are studied with the help of the collective two-atom Jaynes-Cummings model taking into account losses of photons and spontaneous radiation of atoms into bath modes. For the coherent state of the field and excited initial state of atoms, the general analytical expressions for the second-order field correlation function, the second-order squeezing parameters, and the squared field amplitude are obtained by solving the master equation for the density matrix. The statistics and the degree of squeezing of the cavity field mode are studied as functions of the initial field intensity and of the coefficients of the energy dissipation of the system. It is shown that, for the two-atom dissipative model, compared to the single-atom model, the type of field statistics can be changed and the maximal degree of short-term squeezing can be increased.

Exact Solution for Phenomenon of atomic Collapse and Revival under Rotating Wave and Anti-Rotating Wave Approximation

Bang-Fu Ding, Xiaoyun Wang, Yan-Fang Tang +2 more

An accurate method to solve the Jaynes—Cummings (J—C) Hamiltonian has been investigated here. The phenomenon of atomic collapse and revival predicted by Jaynes—Cummings model is demonstrated. Solutions are consistent with the precious such as using the operator method. Furthermore, the Jaynes—Cummings Hamiltonian including the anti-rotating term is also solved precisely using this accurate way so that results agree with experiments better. Essences of the anti-rotating term are revealed. We discuss the relations of the phenomenon of atomic collapse and revival with the average photons number, the light field phase angle, the resonant frequency, and the size of coupling constant. The discussions may make one select suitable conditions to carry out experiment well and study the virtual light field effect on cavity quantum electrodynamics.
