The Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality in the context of a broad random variable

Abstract

In this work we aim to analyze the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt CHSH inequality strictly in the context of probability theory. In the course of assembling inequality we have to take care not to produce assumptions a priori, that is, physically or intuitively accepted suppositions. Of course, this does not mean that after these considerations, we put the adequate physical conditions suitable and generally accepted in these contexts. This allows us to clearly visualize the possibility of finding a greater inequality than that of CHSH in which it is included. This inequality does not contradict the CHSH inequality. This result is suported by using a robust computational simulation, showing the possibility for obtaining an inequality for quantum mechanics that is not violated and allows random hidden variables without any conflict with Bell's inequality.

Hidden variable model for the Bell-Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt test based on the Bell-Kochen-Specker model for a qubit

F. De Zela

The validity of the Bell-Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (Bell-CHSH) inequality for hidden-variable models of the Bell type and the quantum prediction that said inequality can be violated are two indisputable assertions. However, one can prove wrong the assertion that no hidden-variable model is able to reproduce quantum predictions about the Bell-CHSH test. Here, we reproduce all quantum predictions of Bell-CHSH tests by means of the Bell-Kochen-Specker hidden-variable model for a qubit plus Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen “criterion of physical reality”.

Violation of probabilistic inequality Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt in Quantum Mechanics

Felipe Andrade Velozo, Diogo Francisco Rossoni, José A. C. Nogales +2 more

In 1982, Alain Aspect, and collaborators performed an experiment, in order to observe the violation of the inequality of Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt. After the experiment, they used the data in the inequality and concluded that the inequality, obtained through probabilistic arguments, was violated confirming the conclusions obtained by John S. Bell that was not possible a theory of hidden variables in the conditions suggested by Einstein, Podolsky and Rosen. The aim of this work is to verify the validity of the inequalities in the conditions of the probabilistic theory, in order to hold with the axioms of the probability.

CHSH Inequality on a single probability space

CHRISTOPHER M. CARE

A number of papers have suggested that it is inappropriate to combine data from different experiments when undertaking experimental tests of Bell's inequalities. It has been suggested that a correct analysis, using a single probability space, leads to inequalities which are not violated by experiment. If correct, this would be contrary to the normal interpretation of such experimental data. However, in this note, a generalised Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) inequality is derived for a system of four experiments constructed on a single probability space which combines the data from the four experiments. It is shown that this leads to the standard CHSH inequality which is normally used to interpret experimental data. Thus the commonly accepted conclusion that experimental violations of Bell's inequality imply that local realistic models are inconsistent with the predictions of quantum mechanics has not been challenged.

HAS CHSH-INEQUALITY ANY RELATION TO EPR-ARGUMENT?

Andrei Yu. Khrennikov

We emphasize the role of the precise correlations loophole in attempting to connect the CHSH type inequalities with the EPR-argument. The possibility to test theories with hidden variables experimentally by using such inequalities is questioned. The role of the original Bell inequality is highlighted. The interpretation of the CHSH inequality in the spirit of Bohr, as a new test of incompatibility, is presented. The positions of Bohr, Einstein, Podolsky, Rosen, Bell, Clauser, Horne, Shimony, Holt, De Broglie, Hertz, and Boltzmann on interrelation of theory and experiment are enlightened.

Feynman path integral formulation of the Bell-Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality in quantum field theory

G. Peruzzo, Silvio Paolo sorella

By employing a free scalar quantum field theory model previously introduced [G. Peruzzo and S. P. Sorella, Phys. Rev. D 106, 125020 (2022)], we attempt to formulate the Bell-Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (Bell-CHSH) inequality within the Feynman path integral. This possibility relies on the observation that the Bell-CHSH inequality exhibits a natural extension to quantum field theory in such a way that it is compatible with the time ordering $T$. By treating the Feynman propagator as a distribution and by introducing a suitable localizing set of compact support smooth test functions, we work out the path integral setup for the Bell-CHSH inequality, recovering the same results of the canonical quantization.

Possible Vulnerability of Bell-Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt Tests used for Quantum Certification

F. De Zela

A hidden variables (HVs) model is reported, which reproduces quantum predictions for Bell-Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (Bell-CHSH) tests. The existence of such a model poses some limitations to quantum certifications that rely on Bell-CHSH inequality violations. The reported model does not prove wrong Bell's theorem. The latter assumes the factorability of the probability density $p_{AB}$, which rules the stochastic behavior of the HVs. The reported HVs model is based on an extended form of $p_{AB}$, which is suggested by Lebesgue's decomposition theorem for bounded functions. The considered $p_{AB}$ complies with locality and realism, and also with measurement independence, parameter independence and outcome independence.
