AN ALGEBRAIC STRUCTURE FOR ONE-DIMENSIONAL QUANTUM WALKS AND A NEW PROOF OF THE WEAK LIMIT THEOREM

TATSUYA TATE

An algebraic structure for one-dimensional quantum walks is introduced. This structure characterizes, in some sense, one-dimensional quantum walks. A natural computation using this algebraic structure leads us to obtain an effective formula for the characteristic function of the transition probability. Then, the weak limit theorem for the transition probability of quantum walks is deduced by using simple properties of the Chebyshev polynomials.

Limit Theorems for the Fibonacci Quantum Walk

Clement Boateng Ampadu

We study the discrete-time quantum walk in one-dimension governed by the Fibonacci transformation .We show localization does not occur for the Fibonacci quantum walk by investigating the stationary distribution of the walk, in addition, we obtain the weak limit theorem.

Weak limits for quantum random walks

Geoffrey Grimmett, Svante Janson, Petra F. Scudo

We formulate and prove a general weak limit theorem for quantum random walks in one and more dimensions. With X(n) denoting position at time n, we show that X(n)/n converges weakly as n--> infinity to a certain distribution which is absolutely continuous and of bounded support. The proof is rigorous and makes use of Fourier transform methods. This approach simplifies and extends certain preceding derivations valid in one dimension that make use of combinatorial and path integral methods.
