Abstract

Genuine multipartite entanglement has been found in some spin chain systems. However, genuine multipartite nonlocality is much rarer than genuine multipartite entanglement. Here we present genuine multipartite nonlocality in a spin chain system. After introducing the definition of genuine multipartite nonlocality and a multipartite Bell-type inequality, we construct a group of joint measurements for the inequality in a one-dimensional ferromagnetic $N$-qubit chain with nearest-neighbor $XXZ$ interaction, and many violations to the inequality have been found. The violations do indicate that genuine multipartite nonlocality exists in this ferromagnetic spin-1/2 chain system. Last but not least, we also calculate genuine multipartite entanglement concurrence in the same spin chain to demonstrate the difference and relationship between genuine multipartite nonlocality and genuine multipartite entanglement.

Test of Genuine Multipartite Nonlocality without Inequalities

Qing Chen, Sixia Yu, Chengjie Zhang +2 more

In this Letter we propose a set of conditions on the joint probabilities as a test of genuine multipartite nonlocality without inequality. Our test is failed by all nonsignaling local models in which even nonlocal correlations among some observables (not all) are allowed as long as these correlations respect the nonsignaling principle. A pass of our test by a state therefore indicates that this state cannot be simulated by any nonsignaling local models; i.e., the state exhibits genuine multipartite nonlocality. It turns out that all entangled symmetric n-qubit (n≥3) states pass our test and therefore are n-way nonlocal. Also we construct two Bell-type inequalities from our proposed test whose violations indicate genuine multipartite nonlocal correlations.

Long-distance genuine multipartite entanglement between magnetic defects in spin chains

Mirko Consiglio, Jovan Odavić, Riccarda Bonsignori +5 more

We investigate the emergence and properties of long-distance genuine multipartite entanglement, induced via three localized magnetic defects, in a one-dimensional transverse-field $XX$ spin-$1/2$ chain. Using both analytical and numerical techniques, we determine the conditions for the existence of bound states localized at the defects. We find that the reduced density matrix (RDM) of the defects exhibits long-distance genuine multipartite entanglement (GME) across the whole range of the Hamiltonian parameter space, including regions where the two-qubit concurrence is zero. We quantify the entanglement by using numerical lower bounds for the GME concurrence, as well as by analytically deriving the GME concurrence in regions where the RDM is of rank 2. Our work provides insights into generating multipartite entanglement in many-body quantum systems via local control techniques.

Detecting Genuine Multipartite Quantum Nonlocality: A Simple Approach and Generalization to Arbitrary Dimensions

Jean-Daniel Bancal, Nicolas Brunner, Nicolas Gisin +1 more

The structure of Bell-type inequalities detecting genuine multipartite nonlocality, and hence detecting genuine multipartite entanglement, is investigated. We first present a simple and intuitive approach to Svetlichny's original inequality, which provides a clear understanding of its structure and of its violation in quantum mechanics. Based on this approach, we then derive a family of Bell-type inequalities for detecting genuine multipartite nonlocality in scenarios involving an arbitrary number of parties and systems of arbitrary dimension. Finally, we discuss the tightness and quantum mechanical violations of these inequalities.

Multipartite quantum nonlocality and Bell-type inequalities in an infinite-order quantum phase transition of the one-dimensional spin-1/2 XXZ chain

Zhao‐Yu Sun, Shuang Liu, Hailin Huang +7 more

In this paper, using the infinite time-evolving block decimation (iTEBD) algorithm and Bell-type inequalities, we investigate multipartite quantum nonlocality in an infinite one-dimensional quantum spin-$\frac{1}{2} XXZ$ system. High hierarchy of multipartite nonlocality can be observed in the gapless phase of the model, while only the lowest hierarchy of multipartite nonlocality is observed in most regions of the gapped antiferromagnetic phase. Thereby, Bell-type inequalities disclose different correlation structures in the two phases of the system. Furthermore, at the infinite-order quantum phase transition (QPT, or Kosterlitz-Thouless QPT) point of the model, the correlation measures always show a local minimum value, regardless of the length of the subchains. It indicates that relatively low hierarchy of multipartite nonlocality would be observed at the infinite-order QPT point in a Bell-type experiment. The result is in contrast to the existing results of the second-order QPT in the one-dimensional $XY$ model, where multipartite nonlocality with the highest hierarchy has been observed. Thus, multipartite nonlocality provides an alternative perspective to distinguish between these two kinds of QPTs. Reliable clues for the existence of tripartite quantum entanglement have also been found.

Single Bell inequality to detect genuine nonlocality in three-qubit pure genuinely entangled states

Ignacy Stachura, Owidiusz Makuta, Remigiusz Augusiak

Abstract It remains an open question whether every pure multipartite state that is genuinely entangled is also genuinely nonlocal. Recently, a new general construction of Bell inequalities allowing the detection of genuine multipartite nonlocality (GMNL) in quantum states was proposed in Curchod et al (2019 New J. Phys. 21 023016) with the aim of addressing the above problem. Here we show how, in a simple manner, one can improve this construction to deliver finer Bell inequalities for detection of GMNL. Remarkably, we then prove one of the improved Bell inequalities to be powerful enough to detect GMNL in every three-qubit genuinely entangled state. We also generalize some of these inequalities to detect not only GMNL but also nonlocality depth in multipartite states and we present a possible way of generalizing them to the case of more outcomes.

Multipartite entanglement versus nonlocality for two families of N − qubit states

Sanchit Srivastava, Shohini Ghose

Entangled states of multiple qubits can violate Bell-type inequalities indicating nonlocal behavior of multiqubit quantum correlations. We analyze the relation between multipartite entanglement and genuine multipartite nonlocality, characterized by Svetlichny inequality violations, for two families of N − qubit states. We show that for the generalized Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger family of states, Svetlichny inequality is not violated when the n − tangle is less than 1 / 2 for any even number of qubits. On the other hand, the maximal slice states always violate the Svetlichny inequality when n − tangle is nonzero, and the violation increases monotonically with tangle. Our work generalizes the relations between tangle and Svetlichny inequality violations previously derived for three qubits.
