All bipartitions of arbitrary Dicke states

Abstract

By exploiting the permutation symmetry of Dick states, we derive closed analytical expressions of Schmidt decompositions for {\it all} possible bipartitions of a system described by this kind of state. This allows us to exhaustively compute the entropy of entanglement of the bipartitions and, thus, compare the their entanglement extent. We also address the multipartite character of Dicke states by calculating the purity of balanced bipartitions to determine the potential of multipartite entanglement (the average purity). In particular, we found that the entanglement of $W$ states remains constant as the number of qubits is increased. As a final application we define a family of multipartite entanglement witnesses and compute their resistance against random and systematic imperfections. It is shown that in some circumstances, for a fixed white noise fraction, the entanglement becomes detectable only if one {\it increases} the amount of systematic imperfection in the state.

Observable measures of multipartite entanglement

Francois Payn, Davide Girolami

Multipartite entanglement is the premier resource for quantum technologies. Yet, its exact quantification in the laboratory is notoriously challenging, typically requiring the full knowledge of high dimensional quantum states. Here, we construct observable bounds to multipartite entanglement for systems of arbitrary size, which are functions of the local and global state purities, and correlation functions. First, we derive experimentally accessible upper and lower limits to both the bipartite entanglement of formation and the squashed entanglement of bipartite systems, by leveraging cornerstone results of quantum information theory: the entropy strong subadditivity inequality and the Koashi-Winter monogamy relation. Then, we convert them into bounds to the entanglement up to degree k for arbitrary states, and to the genuine k-partite entanglement, by employing a recently proposed method. Finally, we analytically and numerically test these results, by bounding the multipartite entanglement of several relevant states and mixtures, including the important classes of GHZ, Dicke, W states, and random pure states.

Multipartite entanglement in qubit systems

Paolo Facchi

We introduce a potential of multipartite entanglement for a system of n qubits, as the average over all balanced bipartitions of a bipartite entanglement measure, the purity. We study in detail its expression and look for its minimizers, the maximally multipartite entangled states. They have a bipartite entanglement that does not depend on the bipartition and is maximal for all possible bipartitions. We investigate their structure and consider several examples for small n.

Analytical construction of non local operator for n-qubit Dicke state

Sutapa Saha, Some Sankar Bhattacharya, Arup Roy +2 more

Entanglement in multipartite quantum systems is much more elusive than its bipartite counterpart. In recent past the usefulness of multipartite entangled states in several information theoretic tasks have been demonstrated. Being a resource, the detection of multipartite entanglement is an imperative necessity. Among the different classes of multipartite entangled states the Dicke state has found importance in several tasks due to its permutation symmetric nature. In this work we propose a simple and elegant way of detecting n qubit Dicke states using permutation symmetric Bell operators. We conjecture that maximal expectation value of the operator corresponds to the detection of Dicke states.

Detection of many-body entanglement partitions in a quantum computer

Albert Rico, Dmitry Grinko, Robin Krebs +1 more

We present a method to detect entanglement partitions of multipartite quantum systems, by exploiting their inherent symmetries. Structures like genuinely multipartite entanglement, $m$-separability and entanglement depth are detected as very special cases. This formulation enables us to characterize all the entanglement partitions of all three- and four- partite states and witnesses with unitary and permutation symmetry. In particular, we find and parametrize a complete set of bound entangled states therein. For larger systems, we provide a large family of analytical witnesses detecting many-body states of arbitrary size where none of the parties is separable from the rest. This method relies on weak Schur sampling with projective measurements, and thus can be implemented in a quantum computer. Beyond physics, our results extend to the mathematical literature: we establish new inequalities between matrix immanants, and characterize the set of such inequalities for matrices of size three and four.

Experimentally feasible set of criteria detecting genuine multipartite entanglement in n -qubit Dicke states and in higher-dimensional systems

Marcus Huber, Paul Erker, Hans Schimpf +2 more

We construct a set of criteria detecting genuine multipartite entanglement in arbitrary dimensional multipartite systems. These criteria are optimally suited for detecting multipartite entanglement in $n$-qubit Dicke states with $m$ excitations, as shown in exemplary cases. Furthermore, they can be employed to detect multipartite entanglement in different states related to quantum cloning, decoherence-free communication, and quantum secret sharing. In a detailed analysis, we show that the criteria are also more robust to noise than any other criterion known so far, especially with increasing system size. Furthermore, it is shown that the number of required local observables scales only polynomially with size, thus making the criteria experimentally feasible.
