Abstract

Information-theoretic inequalities play a fundamental role in numerous scientific and technological areas (e.g., estimation and communication theories, signal and information processing, quantum physics, …) as they generally express the impossibility to have a complete description of a system via a finite number of information measures. In particular, they gave rise to the design of various quantifiers (statistical complexity measures) of the internal complexity of a (quantum) system. In this paper, we introduce a three-parametric Fisher–Rényi complexity, named ( p , β , λ ) -Fisher–Rényi complexity, based on both a two-parametic extension of the Fisher information and the Rényi entropies of a probability density function ρ characteristic of the system. This complexity measure quantifies the combined balance of the spreading and the gradient contents of ρ , and has the three main properties of a statistical complexity: the invariance under translation and scaling transformations, and a universal bounding from below. The latter is proved by generalizing the Stam inequality, which lowerbounds the product of the Shannon entropy power and the Fisher information of a probability density function. An extension of this inequality was already proposed by Bercher and Lutwak, a particular case of the general one, where the three parameters are linked, allowing to determine the sharp lower bound and the associated probability density with minimal complexity. Using the notion of differential-escort deformation, we are able to determine the sharp bound of the complexity measure even when the three parameters are decoupled (in a certain range). We determine as well the distribution that saturates the inequality: the ( p , β , λ ) -Gaussian distribution, which involves an inverse incomplete beta function. Finally, the complexity measure is calculated for various quantum-mechanical states of the harmonic and hydrogenic systems, which are the two main prototypes of physical systems subject to a central potential.

Generalized statistical complexity and Fisher-Renyi entropy product in the $H$-atom

E. Romera, Ricardo López‐Ruiz, Jaime Sañudo A +1 more

By using the Renyi entropy, and following the same scheme that in the Fisher-Renyi entropy product case, a generalized statistical complexity is defined. Several properties of it, including inequalities and lower and upper bounds are derived. The hydrogen atom is used as a test system where to quantify these two different statistical magnitudes, the Fisher-Renyi entropy product and the generalized statistical complexity. For each level of energy, both indicators take their minimum values on the orbitals that correspond to the highest orbital angular momentum. Hence, in the same way as happens with the Fisher-Shannon and the statistical complexity, these generalized Renyi-like statistical magnitudes break the energy degeneration in the H-atom.

Fisher Information and Complexity Measure of Generalized Morse Potential Model

C. A. Onate, J. O. A. Idiodi

Abstract The spreading of the quantum-mechanical probability distribution density of the three-dimensional system is quantitatively determined by means of the local information-theoretic quantity of the Shannon information and information energy in both position and momentum spaces. The complexity measure which is equivalent to Cramer–Rao uncertainty product is determined. We have obtained the information content stored, the concentration of quantum system and complexity measure numerically for n = 0, 1, 2 and 3 respectively.

A generalized statistical complexity measure: Applications to quantum systems

Ricardo López‐Ruiz, Á. Nagy, E. Romera +1 more

A two-parameter family of complexity measures C̃(α,β) based on the Rényi entropies is introduced and characterized by a detailed study of its mathematical properties. This family is the generalization of a continuous version of the Lopez-Ruiz–Mancini–Calbet complexity, which is recovered for α=1 and β=2. These complexity measures are obtained by multiplying two quantities bringing global information on the probability distribution defining the system. When one of the parameters, α or β, goes to infinity, one of the global factors becomes a local factor. For this special case, the complexity is calculated on different quantum systems: H-atom, harmonic oscillator, and square well.

The Fisher Information: Properties and Physico-Chemical Applications

The Fisher information functional occupies a very special position among the uncertainty measures of quantum systems of any dimensionality. In contrast with (global) entropic measures of Shannon, Renyi or Tsallis types, it contitutes a local measure in the sense that it is sensitive to the oscillatory character of the probability density distribution. Moreover, the Fisher information is closely related to various macroscopic properties of the system described by different density functionals. Here, we review its main analytical properties such as, inequality-based relationships with some radial expectation values and its uncertainty relation. Tighter versions of these inequalities are shown for those systems subject to an arbitrary central potential. Moreover, the Fisher information is computed for D-dimensional hydrogenic systems explicitly in terms of the radial and angular hyperquantum numbers characterizing the quantum states of the system in both position and momentum spaces. Finally, the utility of this quantity is discussed for various physico-chemical processes of recent interest: Abstraction and nucleophilic substitution reactions.

Quantum information-entropic measures for exponential-type potential

A. N. Ikot, Gaotsiwe Joel Rampho, P. O. Amadi +3 more

The approximate solutions of the Schrödinger equation with the central generalized Hulthén and Yukawa potential are investigated within the framework of the functional method. The obtained wave function and the energy levels are used to study the Shannon entropy, Renyi entropy, Fisher information, Shannon Fisher complexity, Shannon power and Fisher-Shannon product in both position and momentum spaces for the ground and first excited states. The theoretic information theories such as Shannon entropies Sr,Sp, Fisher information Ip,Ip and Renyi entropies Rβ as well as the information entropy probability densities ρ(r),ϕ(p) are illustrated graphically. The Bialynicki-Birula – Mycielski (BBM) inequality for the Shannon entropies and the Cramer-Rao inequality for the Fisher information are satisfied for the potential model.
