Quantum entanglement of a harmonic oscillator with an electromagnetic field

Abstract

At present, there are many methods for obtaining quantum entanglement of particles with an electromagnetic field. Most methods have a low probability of quantum entanglement and not an exact theoretical apparatus based on an approximate solution of the Schrodinger equation. There is a need for new methods for obtaining quantum-entangled particles and mathematically accurate studies of such methods. In this paper, a quantum harmonic oscillator (for example, an electron in a magnetic field) interacting with a quantized electromagnetic field is considered. Based on the exact solution of the Schrodinger equation for this system, it is shown that for certain parameters there can be a large quantum entanglement between the electron and the electromagnetic field. Quantum entanglement is analyzed on the basis of a mathematically exact expression for the Schmidt modes and the Von Neumann entropy.

Coupled harmonic oscillators and their quantum entanglement

Dmitry N. Makarov

A system of two coupled quantum harmonic oscillators with the Hamiltonian $\stackrel{\ifmmode \hat{}\else \^{}\fi{}}{H}=\frac{1}{2}(\frac{1}{{m}_{1}}{\stackrel{\ifmmode \hat{}\else \^{}\fi{}}{p}}_{1}^{2}+\frac{1}{{m}_{2}}{\stackrel{\ifmmode \hat{}\else \^{}\fi{}}{p}}_{2}^{2}+A{x}_{1}^{2}+B{x}_{2}^{2}+C{x}_{1}{x}_{2})$ can be found in many applications of quantum and nonlinear physics, molecular chemistry, and biophysics. The stationary wave function of such a system is known, but its use for the analysis of quantum entanglement is complicated because of the complexity of computing the Schmidt modes. Moreover, there is no exact analytical solution to the nonstationary Schrodinger equation $\stackrel{\ifmmode \hat{}\else \^{}\fi{}}{H}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Psi}}=i\ensuremath{\hbar}\frac{\ensuremath{\partial}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Psi}}}{\ensuremath{\partial}t}$ and Schmidt modes for such a dynamic system. In this paper we find a solution to the nonstationary Schrodinger equation; we also find in an analytical form a solution to the Schmidt mode for both stationary and dynamic problems. On the basis of the Schmidt modes, the quantum entanglement of the system under consideration is analyzed. It is shown that for certain parameters of the system, quantum entanglement can be very large.

Coupled Harmonic Oscillator in a System of Free Particles

Dmitry N. Makarov

The coupled quantum harmonic oscillator is one of the most researched and important model systems in quantum optics and quantum informatics. This system is often investigated for quantum entanglement in the environment. As a result, such studies are complex and can only be carried out using numerical methods that do not reveal the general pattern of such systems. In this work, the external environment is considered to be two independent particles interacting with coupled harmonic oscillators. It is shown that such a system has an exact analytical solution to the dynamic Schrödinger equation. The analysis of this solution is carried out, and the main parameters of this system are revealed. The solutions obtained can be used to study more complex systems and their quantum entanglement.

The Thermo-field Dynamics Method for Electron with Two-mode Electromagnetic Field

Ahlem Abidi

The quick progress in quantum entanglement research allows us not one to study quantum systems down to N-bodies but also to take a new look at these systems in different branches of physics; particularly the statistical thermodynamics where the application of the thermo-field dynamics (TFD) method to the investigation of entanglement is fruitful. Because the traditional methods based on the identification of a specific parameter show their limit. The process using (TFD) facilitates the understanding of entanglement because it focuses directly on the eigenstate of the system and it is useful in the equilibrium and the non-equilibrium states also. In this context, the (TFD) method is used in this paper to analyze entanglement of an electron interacting with a two-mode electromagnetic field assimilated to an electron with two harmonic oscillators. Entanglement entropies are derived between concerned, not concerned harmonic oscillator and electron compute when the system is in a thermodynamic equilibrium and non-equilibrium state. For the equilibrium case, an increase in the number of particles per unit volume increases the quantum entanglement consequently entanglement appears more important for the couple oscillator-electron than the one electron, this trend is reversed for the non-equilibrium case. By respecting the entanglement parameters, such results allow us to know the relative equilibrium state of the overall system.

Entanglement of two-qubit photon beam by magnetic field

Aleksandr D. Levin, Dmitri M Gitman, Ricardo A. Castro

We study the possibility of affecting the entanglement in a two-qubit system consisting of two photons with different fixed frequencies but with two arbitrary linear polarizations, moving in the same direction, with the help of an applied external magnetic field. The interaction between the magnetic field and the photons in our model is achieved through intermediate electrons that interact both with the photons and the magnetic field. The possibility of an exact theoretical analysis of this scheme is based on well-known exact solutions that describe the interaction of an electron subjected to an external magnetic field (or a medium of electrons not interacting with each other) with a quantized field of two photons. We adapt these exact solutions to the case under consideration. Using explicit wave functions for the resulting electromagnetic field, we calculate the entanglement measures (the information and the Schmidt ones) of the photon beam as functions of the applied magnetic field and the parameters of the electron medium.

Entanglement Entropies of Coupled Harmonic Oscillators

中川, 弘一, Koichi Nakagawa

We study the quantum entanglement of systems of coupled harmonic oscillators on the basis of thermo-field dynamics (TFD).For coupled harmonic oscillators at equilibrium, the extended entanglement entropy is derived using the TFD method, and it is demonstrated to be controlled by temperature and coupling parameters. For non-equilibrium systems, in addition to temperature and coupling parameters, the time dependence of the extended entanglement entropy is calculated in accordance with the dissipative von Neumann equation, and the dissipative dynamics of the systems of coupled harmonic oscillators is discussed.Consequently, based on TFD, the physical parametrization of the entanglement entropies is confirmed in both the equilibrium and nonequilibrium cases of harmonic oscillator systems by means of the laws of thermodynamics.
