Quantum Correlations and Bell Inequality Violation under Decoherence

Abstract

Quantum Correlations are studied extensively in quantum information domain. Entanglement Measures and Quantum Discord are good examples of these actively studied correlations. Detection of violation in Bell inequalities is also a widely active area in quantum information theory world. In this work, we revisit the problem of analyzing the behavior of quantum correlations and violation of Bell inequalities in noisy channels. We extend the problem defined in [1] by observing the changes in negativity measure, quantum discord and a modified version of Horodecki measure for violation of Bell inequalities under amplitude damping, phase damping and depolarizing channels. We report different interesting results for each of these correlations and measures. All these correlations and measures decrease under decoherence channels, but some changes are very dramatical comparing to others. We investigate also separability conditions of example studied states.

A study of Quantum Correlation for Three Qubit States under the effect of Quantum Noisy Channels

Pratik K. Sarangi, Indranil Chakrabarty

We study the dynamics of quantum dissension for three qubit states in various dissipative channels such as amplitude damping, dephasing and depolarizing. Our study is solely based on Markovian environments where quantum channels are without memory and each qubit is coupled to its own environment. We start with mixed GHZ, mixed W, mixture of separable states, a mixed biseparable state, as the initial states and mostly observe that the decay of quantum dissension is asymptotic in contrast to sudden death of quantum entanglement in similar environments. This is a clear indication of the fact that quantum correlation in general is more robust against the effect of noise. However, for a given class of initial mixed states we find a temporary leap in quantum dissension for a certain interval of time. More precisely, we observe the revival of quantum correlation to happen for certain time period. This signifies that the measure of quantum correlation such as quantum discord, quantum dissension, defined from the information theoretic perspective is different from the correlation defined from the entanglement-separability paradigm and can increase under the effect of the local noise. We also study the effects of these channels on the monogamy score of each of these initial states. Interestingly, we find that for certain class of states and channels, there is change from negative values to positive values of the monogamy score with classical randomness as well as with time. This gives us an important insight in obtaining states which are freely sharable (polygamous state) from the states which are not freely sharable (monogamous). This is indeed a remarkable feature, as we can create monogamous states from polygamous states Monogamous states are considered to have more signatures of quantum ness and can be used for security purpose.

Quantum discord of Bell cat-states under amplitude damping

Mohammed Daoud A, R. Ahl Laamarab

The evolution of pairwise quantum correlations of Bell cat-states under amplitude damping is examined using the concept of quantum discord which goes beyond entanglement. A closed expression of the quantum discord is explicitly derived. We used of the Koashi-Winter relation. A relation which facilitates the optimization process of the conditional entropy. We also discuss the temporal evolution of bipartite quantum correlations under a dephasing channel and compare the behaviors of quantum discord and entanglement whose properties are characterized through the concurrence.

Bounds on quantum correlations in Bell-inequality experiments

Yeong-Cherng Liang, Andrew C. Doherty

Bell-inequality violation is one of the most widely known manifestations of entanglement in quantum mechanics; indicating that experiments on physically separated quantum mechanical systems cannot be given a local realistic description. However, despite the importance of Bell inequalities, it is not known in general how to determine whether a given entangled state will violate a Bell inequality. This is because one can choose to make many different measurements on a quantum system to test any given Bell inequality and the optimization over measurements is a high-dimensional variational problem. In order to better understand this problem we present algorithms that provide, for a given quantum state and Bell inequality, both a lower bound and an upper bound on the maximal violation of the inequality. In many cases these bounds determine measurements that would demonstrate violation of the Bell inequality or provide a bound that rules out the possibility of a violation. Both bounds apply techniques from convex optimization and the methodology for creating upper bounds allows them to be systematically improved. Examples are given to illustrate how these algorithms can be used to conclude definitively if some quantum states violate a given Bell inequality.

Maximal Violation of Bell Inequality and Correlations for Werner State

Song Shi-xue

The maximal violation of Bell inequality and correlations measured by mutual information and relative entropy for the Werner state are calculated. It is found that the measurements that result in the maximal violation of Bell inequality can extract the most information from the Werner state;in the two kinds of measures of correlation, quantum discord is all greater than classical correlation, whereas entanglement does not necessarily greater than classical correlation even in the case of the maximal violation of Bell inequality, which means that quantum discord can describe the nonlocality of correlation much better than entanglement so that makes it have wider application in quantum communication and quantum computation.
