Abstract

We derive a new time-dependent Schrödinger equation(TDSE) for quantum models with non-hermitian Hamiltonian. Within our theory, the TDSE is symmetric in the two Hilbert spaces spanned by the left and the right eigenstates, respectively. The physical quantities are also identical in these two spaces. Based on this TDSE, we show that exchanging two quasi-particles in a non-hermitian model can generate arbitrary geometric phase. The system can also violate the Lieb-Robinson bound in non-relativistic quantum mechanics so that an action in one place will immediately cause a change in the distance. We show that the above two surprising behaviors can also appear in anyonic model, which makes us propose that the non-hermitian single particle model may possess many common features with anyonic model.

Quantum Evolution of the Time-Dependent Non-Hermitian Hamiltonians: Real Phases

Explicitly time-dependent pseudo-Hermitian (TDPH) invariants theory systems, with a time-dependent (TD) metric, is developed for a time-dependent non Hermitian (TDNH) quantum systems. We derive a simple relation between the eigenstates of this pseudo-Hermitien (PH) invariant and the solutions of the Schrodinger equation. A physical system is treated in detail: the TD Swanson model, where an explicitly TDPH invariant is derived for this system, the eigenvalues and eigenstates of the invariant are calculated explicitly.

Solving Time-Dependent Schödinger Equation for Some PT-Symmetric Quantum Mechanical Problems

Tsin-Fu Jiang

Using a high-precision code, we generate the eigenstates of a PT-symmetric Hamiltonian. We solve the time-dependent Schrödinger equation (TDSE) of the non-Hermitian system based on the eigenset. Since the formulation is relatively new and the observables are calculated differently than conventional quantum mechanics, we justify it with a paradigmatic case in Hermitian quantum mechanics. We present the harmonic generation spectra on some model PT-Hamiltonians driven by an electric pulse. We discuss the physical differences with the harmonic spectra of a pulse-driven atom.

Review of Mathematical Modelling of the Time Dependent Schrodinger Wave Equation using Different methods

Jonathan Osang, Isaac Oludayo Adedokun, Chigozie Israel-Cookey +4 more

This paper focuses on the principle of time dependent Schrodinger equation (TDSE) which simplified so many reviewed ideas, class room teaching, research ideologies and personal study meant for advanced knowledge. In this research work,  the enlightenment of the basic concept of Schrodinger wave equation to improve knowledge about simple ways for mathematical understanding in deriving TDSE using different technique in more comprehensive approach. The research shows clearly that TDSE can be derived using time independent equation, wave mechanics, classical & Hamilton-Jacobi’s equations. Different methods and ways by different researchers/scholars have been used in the past. In this paper, we review the quantum field theoretic route to the Schrodinger wave equation which treats time and space as parameters, not operators. Furthermore, we recall that a classical (nonlinear) wave equation can be derived from the classical action via Hamiltonian-Jacobi theory. By requiring the wave equation to be linear we again arrive at the Schrodinger equation, without postulating operator relations. The underlying philosophy is operational. Surely, a particle is what a particle detector detects. This leads us to a useful physical picture combining the wave (field) and particle paradigms which points the way to the time-dependent Schrodinger equation. However, the result provides a comprehensive well derived derivation, derived using various approaches, which would make this research a unique one from different areas of specializations.

The derivation of time-dependent Schrödinger equations

J S Briggs, Sutee Boonchui, Supitch Khemmani

Beginning with an entangled state of a time-independent (TI) quantum system coupled to its TI quantum environment, we show that a time-dependent Schrödinger equation (TDSE) for the quantum system alone can be derived in the limit that one of the environment variables becomes a classical variable. In the same limit the TI amplitude of the environment wavefunction becomes the TD amplitude of an eigenfunction expansion of the system TD wavefunction. Similarly, the phase of the TI environment wavefunction goes over into the TD phase of the system amplitude. By considering that more and more environment variables become successively classical, each provides a classical clock to give a multiple-time TDSE for the quantum system. Two examples of two-time TDSE given in the literature are derived. When all clocks are synchronized the multiple-time TDSE reduces to the usual one-time TDSE.

Non-Hermitian Hamiltonian beyond PT symmetry for time-dependent S U ( 1 , 1 ) and S U ( 2 ) systems — Exact solution and geometric phase in pseudo-invariant theory

Nadjat Amaouche, Maroua Sekhri, Rahma Zerimeche +2 more

In this paper we investigate time-dependent non-Hermitian Hamiltonians, which consist of SU(1,1) and SU(2) generators. The former Hamiltonian is PT symmetric but the latter one is not. A time-dependent non-unitary operator is proposed to construct the non-Hermitian invariant, which is verified as pseudo-Hermitian with real eigenvalues. The exact solutions are obtained in terms of the eigenstates of the pseudo-Hermitian invariant operator for both the SU(1,1) and SU(2) systems in a unified manner. Then, we derive the Lewis–Riesenfeld (LR) phase, which can be separated into the dynamic and the geometrical phases. The analytical results are well consistent with those of the corresponding Hermitian Hamiltonians reported in the literature.

On the η pseudo PT symmetry theory for non-Hermitian Hamiltonians: time-dependent systems

Mustapha Maamache

In the context of non-Hermitian quantum mechanics, many systems are known to possess a pseudo PT symmetry , i.e. the non-Hermitian Hamiltonian H is related to its adjoint H^{†} via the relation, H^{†}=PTHPT . We propose a derivation of pseudo PT symmetry and η -pseudo-Hermiticity simultaneously for the time dependent non-Hermitian Hamiltonians by intoducing a new metric η(t)=PTη(t) that not satisfy the time-dependent quasi-Hermiticity relation but obeys the Heisenberg evolution equation. Here, we solve the SU(1,1) time-dependent non-Hermitian Hamiltonian and we construct a time-dependent solutions by employing this new metric and discuss a concrete physical applications of our results.
