Bounds on skew information and local quantum uncertainty for state conversion

Abstract

We establish strict upper bounds on local quantum uncertainty (LQU) and skew information associated with state conversion via certain quantum channels. Specifically, we obtain a bound on the achievable LQU for bipartite channels whose Kraus operators commute with nondegenerate von Neumann measurements on the first subsystem, and this LQU bound is expressed in terms of the skew information for the first subsystem. Furthermore, we establish a bound on the skew information of one subsystem obtained from any initial bipartite state subject to any quantum steering channel, and this bound is expressed in terms of the LQU for the initial joint-system state. Our two claims show that state conversion has fundamental limitations relating LQU with skew information.

Measuring non-Markovianity based on local quantum uncertainty

Zhi He, Chunmei Yao, Qiong Wang +1 more

We introduce an alternative method based on local quantum uncertainty to measure non-Markovianity for an open quantum system. The local quantum uncertainty proposed by Girolami $et al$. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 110, 240402 (2013)] is defined by the minimum skew information from a local measurement perspective. The measure effectively captures the characteristics of non-Markovianity and has a clearly physical interpretation: in correlated bipartite systems, the non-Markovian (Markovian) process of a considered open subsystem corresponds to the increase (decrease) of quantum uncertainty of local observables of another measured free subsystem. Then the local quantum uncertainty is further discussed by carefully handling the square root of the density operator for the bipartite $2\ensuremath{\bigotimes}d$ systems. Specifically, for a two-qubit system we give an explicit expression of the local quantum uncertainty. Furthermore, by applying the measure to three typical non-Markovian noise channels, we find that the conditions of detecting the non-Markovianity are consistent with the results of existing measures for non-Markovianity, i.e., information backflow and divisibility.

Enhancing the estimation precision of an unknown phase shift in multipartite Glauber coherent states via skew information correlations and local quantum Fisher information

Mehdi El Bakraoui, Abdallah Slaoui, Hanane El Hadfi +1 more

Local quantum uncertainty (LQU) and local quantum Fisher information (LQFI) are both tools used to capture purely quantum correlations in multipartite quantum systems. In this paper, we study these quantifiers in the case of multipartite Glauber coherent states, which include the Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger and Werner states. We perform a comparative study between LQFI and LQU in an isolated system. By using the Kraus operator representation, we study the behavior of these quantifiers on the dephasing channel to investigate their performances under the decoherence effect. In addition, the robustness to the decoherence effect of these two quantifiers is studied. We further examine the situation involving the multipartite Glauber coherent state to decide the sensitivity of the probe state as a resource for quantum estimation protocols.

SU(N)-Driven Local Quantum Uncertainty for Quantum Computers

Hui Li, Jian-Nan Hu, Ruo-Yu Ma +1 more

We extend local quantum uncertainty (LQU) from qubits to arbitrary dimensions by constructing an SU(N) generator basis. A closed-form expression valid for any bipartite system with local dimension N ≥ 2 is derived and evaluated for the three-dimensional Werner state. Optimizing over all local von Neumann measurements yields LQU, which monotonically decreases from maximal entanglement to separability and serves as an efficient metric for high-dimensional quantum correlations.

Steerability Of Local Quantum Coherence

Debasis Mondal, Tanumoy Pramanik, Arun Kumar Pati

The bipartite state is said to be steerable iff it does not have single system description, i.e., the bipartite state can not be explained by local hidden state model [Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 98}, 140402 (2007)]. Several steering inequalities have been derived using different local uncertainty relations to verify the control on the state of one subsystem by other. Here, we derive complementarity kind of relations between coherences measured on mutually unbiased bases using various coherence measures like the $l_1$-norm, relative entropy and skew information. Using these relations, we formulate steering inequalities to check whether one subsystem has control to the coherence of the other entangled subsystem. According to our results, all pure entangled states are maximally steerable but for mixed entangled states, coherence steerability needs stronger non-local correlation than the existing state steering inequalities. We also show that our steering criteria is monogamous.

Uncertainty relation of successive measurements based on Wigner–Yanase skew information

Jun Zhang, Wei Jia-ning, Zhoubo Duan +2 more

Abstract Wigner–Yanase skew information could quantify the quantum uncertainty of the observables that are not commuting with a conserved quantity. We present the uncertainty principle for two successive projective measurements in terms of Wigner–Yanase skew information based on a single quantum system. It could capture the incompatibility of the observables, i.e. the lower bound can be nontrivial for the observables that are incompatible with the state of the quantum system. Furthermore, the lower bound is also constrained by the quantum Fisher information. In addition, we find the complementarity relation between the uncertainties of the observable which operated on the quantum state and the other observable that performed on the post-measured quantum state and the uncertainties formed by the non-degenerate quantum observables performed on the quantum state, respectively.

The quantum uncertainty relation for skew information of coherence

Ming‐Jing Zhao, Jie Cui, Yuan Sun

Abstract The quantum uncertainty relation characterizes the restriction of the quantum coherence on different measurement bases. The skew information of coherence is a coherence measure both operationally and informatically. We study the quantum uncertainty relation for the skew information of coherence under any two orthonormal bases. In qubit and qutrit systems, we derive the quantum uncertainty relations with the lower bounds in the factorized forms by the purity of quantum states and the incompatibility between two orthonormal bases. Especially the lower bound in qubit systems is strictly positive for non-maximally mixed states and incompatible orthonormal bases. These quantum uncertainty relations reveal the intrinsic relation among the coherence, the purity and the incompatibility between two orthonormal bases quantitatively. The advantages of these quantum uncertainty relations are illustrated by some specific examples. This method we developed here is beneficial to some other quantum uncertainty relations.
